I think both Steed and Lennon would play much better through the middle, but especially Steed - it's obvious to all and sundry that he prefers to get onto his right foot and cut inside, and that's fine with Lee on such fine form to overlap, but i wouldn't be so confident with someone like BAE behind him - he doesn't have the same ability to read a game like Lee does, which could easily leave us exposed if he makes a rash charge forward.Does anyone else really want to see Steed played in the middle? He's easily our most creative player at the moment and has shown he's not afraid of putting a tackle in. I know we don't have any other options on the left for now so he's got to play there, but if/when Bale gets back or if/when we sign a left sided player in January I'd love to see what Steed can do in the middle. Put him alongside JJ and I think he'd be superb.
So, not only does he look more suited to playing in the middle, it makes more sense to play Bale/pick up another player for out on the wing and shift Steed into the attacking midfield role, in front of either Zokora or Huddlestone, depending on what we need.
Jenas playing down the right has apparently not been a popular option from both Martin and Wendy, so far. Considering his pace and the fact his crossing, whilst not amazing, eclipses Lennons, i would love to see him given even just 45 minutes runnin the line, even if it's to find out the he can't play there, but JJ's first touch is dire right now, so i would predict a few more frustrating goal kicks than would be necessary...
i dunno, i'm talking myself in circles now...
