Son has told Spurs’ interim boss how he can get him firing again in pursuit of a top-four finish

Heung-min Son’s 100th Premier League goal could hardly have been a more trademark finish, the Korean creating a pocket of space from 25 yards and bending a magnificent effort into the top corner to open the scoring in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Brighton last weekend.

Interesting that he had his highest scoring season under Conte, then has struggled to impact games this season while playing in the same system.

It is odd. But maybe because it was always the same rigid system, this season teams have learnt how to nullify him / that part of the system while he is still having to play the same way.

And it doesn't work as well with Perisic imo.

I think Conte didn't fully implement his system. Since he joined mid season he used what worked and tried to get it working better. Then when preseason came he started from scratch and tried to implement his way fully but broke what didn't need fixing

Presumably if it is Conte's fault that Son isn't having such a good season then Conte also gets the credit for Kane having his best scoring season for 5 years (8 more goals and it's his best ever)?

Son's two best Prem scoring seasons for us were while Jose, Nuno and Conte (the negative, boring ones) were in charge. So there is a case for arguing that they got more out of him than the super entertaining Poch did.

I don't buy that Conte / his system is all to blame for Sonny's poor form this season or that Jose/Nuno/Conte are the only reason he has done well in the previous two season.

Perhaps we just have to stop looking for someone /system to blame and accept the fact that footballers typically have good, bad and indifferent periods in their careers.
