Cristian Stellini has responded after being asked whether he would be willing to use Davinson Sanchez when Tottenham Hotspur face Manchester United in their next home game.

“If we need, yes,” he said.
“He’s a professional player. We need to go strong for the team. But I repeat, if the team pushed more when we scored the first goal, we are here to speak about a different situation. It’s the mindset that needs to change, not only Davinson, it’s the whole team that can help, every player that came onto the pitch.”

Haven’t seen the game or highlights- was Sanchez on the left of the back 3? If he was it’s hardly his fault as Everyman and his dog knows he’s only effective on the right

Given the current form of some of the players and the unavailable injured, it doesn’t seem decent to play a back three currently.

So is it really the players who are deciding to sit back? That doesn't sound right.

“If the team pushed more”………it’s your job to determine the tactic, Stellini. Leglets injury was the perfect opportunity to go 4 at the back and put in another midfielder and go for it. Instead you persist with the negative tactics.

It's utter horse shit. If you cant get the players to stop doing that when you're allegedly telling them not to do it then you're clearly not a very good coach.

Five at the back at home to Bournemouth? We are in dire need of a shake up.

That only works if they're listening, seems pretty obvious they're not. Personally I'd love for him and Mason to just say "fuck it" and start using young players who'll follow instructions rather than the usual suspects, but imagine that's unlikely.

On the flip side of that, it's been clear since even last season that Sanchez isn't just not suited to the formation but actively struggles with it, bringing him on is on Stellini.

Is there a choice ? Neither Porro nor Perisic can defend and are not capable of playing in back 4. Now Lenglet is out too. Everyone else is înjured. In midfield we could bring in Saar. Hjojberg haș nothing left in the tank. Our Only options are 3-4-3 Or 3-5-2. Tanganga at LCB. Porro haș had a nightmare in the games where he doesn‘t have Romero to help him out.
i would go
Forster
Romero Dier Tanganga
Porro Skipp Saar Perisic
Son Kane Danjuma
Not an excUse but no manager could get uș top 4 with our fixture list and players left available. The realistic target is Europa League Rather have nothing than Conference League.

Bentancur such a huge miss.

Big mistake to appoint Stellini . Should have either brought back Poch or just leave Mason in until summer.

I agree with all that, but I’d look to the youth for a left back, none of our recent managers seem to care about them, but I’d prefer we gave one a chance.

He played on the right, Romero on the left.

Romero is no where near as effective on the left, and Porro was very poor as well.

Porro was as much to blame as Sanchez for 2 of the goals, and PEH was to blame as well.

Stellini is right - if we attacked more after the first goal we wouldn’t be in this position. But if has to find a way to change the setup to allow the team to do that.

He also said after the game that it wasn’t right to change formation, to add more numbers in midfield whilst we were still winning.

Completely contradicts himself. What kind of manager only changes things up once you are losing, instead of doing so whilst we are still in the lead but under pressure.

The management of Sanchez has been dreadful.

He gets brought on versus Everton at left-centre back in a back 3. The player who plays that role needs to be comfortable on the ball, carry the ball out but most importantly, be comfortable on his left.

It's not like playing left centre-back in a back 4 and we all know Sanchez technical ability is lacking.

So he comes on and cannot adjust, we lose the points and Sanchez certainly loses confidence from it.

He then gets thrown in again with unsuited conditions and due to a mix of low confidence and poor system, he makes more errors

I felt awful for Sanchez when he was booed as he came on and then cheered as he was subbed off just 23 minutes later. No one deserves that.

But the fact remains that he has been a terrible signing for us. He can’t control a football and always, always has a costly mistake in him.

If I know this, then any manager worth their salt should also be aware of this.

The decision to put him on on Saturday afternoon was really poor and that is all on Stellini. It did no one any favours, especially Sanchez himself who was already short on confidence.

Not sure I want to see him wear the shirt again but if he does, I hope he plays a blinder!!
