Well I think it was a pen as they have pointed out on match of the day however the reason players like Sterling don't get the decisions is because of the couple of dozen times they have gone down cheaply looking for a pen when it wasn't one.

It's all very well saying the ref has got a decision wrong but they also have to put up with clear cheating and in some players cases it's more likely than others.

Not saying that because we benefited from it today or that some of our players haven't been known to do it, that's a just the case in nearly every game played these days. Imo

Yeah it was.

But that's how the cookie crumbles.

Like how Sane's "ball to hand" (Shearer's opinion) should have been given against him, since he brought the ball down with his hand. As his hand moved forwards and outwards.

But good on Pochettino for supporting his players either way. I like the mentality.

if that happened in the middle of the park then the ref would give it 50/50 so it should be no different in the penalty box. And Poch has a point that if the ref can't see it he can't give it as in the handball decision.

If that had been a City defender on Kane or Dele we'd be screaming for a pen. My first reaction was pen and no amount of repays has changed my mind. As for the handball, very difficult to give. Again if roles were reversed and the ref had blown for it I'd be screwing. Saying all that I think the officials had a stinker today.

I just think it's ironic that the one time Sterling should have gone down he stayed on his feet and got the shot away. That cost him getting the penalty. The boy that cried wolf springs to mind.

Overall we got away with that performance. Even without the likely penalty we were lucky to draw. I've seen enough games where we didn't get all we deserved so I don't mind if now and then it evens itself out.

It didn't deny Sterling a goal scoring opportunity. The ref had to factor in just how shit Sterling is in those situations and he did what he normally does and got a rubbish shot in straight at the keeper.

It was a pen, but their 1st goal was hand ball.

The overall result was not changed by the two bad decisions.

Who deserved to win? City did on balance, but hey that's not how this works.

B4 kick off, every Yiddo I spoke with said they'd take the draw.

From 2 nil down, I'm happy with a point.

Man U fluffed their lines, as well as Liverpool.

Let's see what happens on Sunday.

How times have changed.
A few seasons ago, we would be the ones who were pushed and get nothing for it, and the opposition would score against us (Barlotelli stomping on Parker, and then scored, remember?) Now, what goes around comes around.

All he said was that if the first goal wasn't a handball then this wasn't a penalty. The ball was controlled by Sane as he made a movement towards it, but the ref couldn't have seen it. The fact that they should have been given a penalty makes it all the sweeter; then again, he was offside in the first place. We were mauled, because the set was wrong from the start and then we lost a lot of momentum. Had it not been for those goalkeeping mistakes, I think we would have won the match, because we had weathered their storm.

Sterling consistently goes down under completely legitimate tackles and cries penalty, as he did in this match several times... Ref says Not a pen then it serves him right.

also a shout out to Kyle Walker - I think he knew that if he tried to pull Sterling back then he would give the ref no choice but by giving him a slight push to put him off balance then he had a chance of getting away with it

It was one of the most powerful, cleanly hit shots I've ever seen Sterling take, without that push he'd have sliced it and it would've bobbled wide...Sterling should be texting Kyle thanks this morning IMO.
