I see this only as a plan D,E,F kind of signing. Unable to believe we will be willing to spend 35m on a winger. His compilations looks good on Youtube. But then, if we look closely, there is God awful defending in their league

Are any of them wingers? Moura I guess you could argue but Lamela and Lo Celso certainly aren't.
oh ffs you know what I meant:

For positions behind the striker we have:

Son
Lamela
Dele
Moura
Eriksen

We are strongly linked with all of

Sess
Clarke
Bergwijn
Brooks/Bale

But Eriksen could be off and Lamela’s body falls apart when someone in Crouch End farts loudly

So do other people say 'wingers' - including JJ - don't see you picking up on him using the term 'wingers' - what would you prefer, 'inside forwards'?

"How many wingers do we need as MP prefers EL over LM !!"

oh ffs you know what I meant:

For positions behind the striker we have:

Son - Also backup ST
Lamela - Made of biscuits, used to being a squad player
Dele - Can play deeper if needed, and possibly false 9
Moura - Also backup ST
Eriksen - Often plays deeper, probably leaving

We are strongly linked with all of

Sess - Can also play LB/LWB, probably the long term plan
Clarke - Young potential signing
Bergwijn/Brooks/Bale - Likely one of these at most

Added some notes to the above. Assuming Llorente, Janssen and Nkoudou are off, is ~8 players for 4 positions (3AM, 1 ST) not the right kind of squad depth? Especially considering Sessegnon, Dele and Eriksen (or say Lo Celso) can play other roles?

(Edit) For me that's what we need.

People neeed to get away from the idea that we have wingers, inside fiestas, number tens, etc. Apart from Kane/ Llorente being a focal point when they play, we essentially play with four attackers who are positionslly flexible. Ergo, we need to have 8 attackers to choose from. Currently it looks like:
Kane Llorente Son Dele Eriksen Lamela Lucas.

Based on rumours, next season it could well look like Kane Lucas Son Dele Lamela Lo-Celso Bergwyn Brooks.

The important thing isn’t so much that we have defined positions, but that we have defined roles, I.e. players who can pick a pass, players with pace, players with dribbling ability, players who can hold it up, players who score goals, players who are good in the air, players who can graft, etc etc. And as long as in each category there’s at least a couple of players capable of doing that job, we have depth for the front four.

Exactly this. But I don’t think we’ll move for Begwijn unless Eriksen goes, pretty much for the reasons you’ve outlined above

IMO he'd push Lucas and Son to keep their game at 100% and if they didn't he'd be a quality option. This is the sort of squad depth we've been lacking so badly. Of course, it's all down to finances and HG qoutas but if you look past that he'd be a great addition IMO.

People keep mentioning Brooks, where have we been strongly linked? Am I missing something?

Bit late to this conversation but if we were to sign a winger I think you'd see Lamela moved inside to be the backup to Eriksen or the Eriksen replacement, then you'd have Son, Lucas, and the new winger playing off the left and right with Dele being lined up anywhere in attack and given a free role.

To be fair when I originally read the post I thought it was just BBLG using his posh tongue again (he’d already written ergo, which is jolly posh) and an inside fiesta was an actual football term from somewhere!:LOL:
