Great player - I'm a big fan... but surely his age and price tag don't fit our model.

those saying he's rubbish are really just highlighting a stunning lack of knowledge. Been one of the best players outside the top three in La Liga and the foundation for Seville's success. Another classic case of Spurs fans preferring the exotic over the functional.

He'd be a great buy for us, in his prime and would provide great competition for both Wanyama and Dembele.

Assuming we stick with a back 3, we need more bodies in central midfield.
Aged 29 and at that price?

No.

Again, good grief.

The last position we need to fill is another combative DM. Hopefully this can be filed under "bullshit".

This is a general comment by it's somewhat annoying that a player's age automatically means he's not an option.

I'm actually convinced our first transfer in this window, if we bring in anyone at all, will be a player 25+ years old.

Didn't he play for Stoke, so he even has PL experience? He also had a great CL campaign last season. Crazy tall for a midfielder, too, and slim and lean just like Pochettino wants them. And he'd win plenty of arial duels. Could be a good buy actually.
