Come on you spurssssssssss... I don't want to be negative, we are not a one man team and if palacios is 50% fit or less then I would rather play with 100% fit kaboul we can't risk anymore injuries as it is..

And then go into the Fulham game with just Modric s a fit CM?

o. didnt realise we had pompey and sunderland after that. thought it was pompey then a big4 game.

def needs his booking against fulham then.

Finally redknapp has read my post. This was a game for kaboul to start especially as he is cup tied for fulham

I'm going to second-guess Harry here and think it's more than just aiming for the FA Cup.

I think he knows TP (his good mate) got one over him at WHL so wanted to trick him somehow. This move is not like-for-like. It's changing us to more of a diamond. Palacios chases and presses. I don't see Kaboul doing that. He'll more likely sit.

That puts Modric further forward as well, something plenty of us have been asking for for a long time.

Anyway, I think this could be interesting. I also think that no Shawcross might be a bigger story than no Palacios. But then, that's me.

On the Wilson situation, Stoke are not known for playing through midfield so we may not miss him quite as much as people think, high balls in the box are more Kaboul's end of the business.

Yeah, back to the Ossie days of 5-0-5 formations, eh? Albeit for one afternoon.

while I can see why he was picked, myself I saw this game as a perfect opportunity to see Livermore, wasn't it the Posh fans who said he was the only player to get stuck in

he also wouldn't be playing out of postion

but here's to Kaboul getting on the scoresheet for us

I can see the point in putting Kaboul in for this game to add height and physical presence against Stoke, but I also wish it was not at the expense of Palacios.
Kaboul is far less mobile than Palacios and far less solid as a DM. I hope he can give us a pleasant surprise today - we'll see.

It also looks to me as if Harry is showing here that he sees FA Cup as more realistic target than CL place. That may well be the case, but I would not expect the team manager to make it look like that at this stage. He seems to be prepared for Palacios to get booked v Fulham and then miss 2 league games, rather than get booked today and then miss 1 FA Cup game and 1 league game (home v Portsmouth).

Edit: if Kaboul is cup-tied v Fulham, playing him today i/o WP makes more sense now. Plus, I agree with Bill_Oddie in that hopefully that will surprise Pulis and Stoke enough to help us gain advantage in the first half. But we need to score 2 to win, most likely - as we are bound to concede at least 1 goal from one of their set pieces.

What is it with the Stoke fans whistling whenever we start passing? Do they hate actual football or something?
