All very odd.

A few days ago there was talk of the last day shenanigans all being a bit of a con because everyone would end up with what they wanted a year later, with United getting another year out of their keeper.

With this new contract, I imagine Real will be a bit pissed off.

I expect there is an agreement to sell him for the same 18m agreed previously and this way just ensures utd get some money.
