#arsenal to sign Granit Xhaka as midfielder heads to London to complete move| @JWTelegraph http://telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/05/20/arsenal-to-sign-granit-xhaka-as-midfielder-heads-to-london-to-co…

Arsenal are poised to confirm their first signing of the summer, with Granit Xhaka today due at the club’s London Colney training base for a medical following a breakthrough in negotiations with Borussia Monchengladbach on a £30 million deal.

Arsenal had initially bid close to £20 million for the Switzerland midfielder but, with Monchengladbach hoping to get more than £30 million, an agreement was eventually reached on a deal understood to be worth an initial £25 million but rising potentially to £30 million. Xhaka had a release clause in his contract for £23 million that would have become active next year.
Bit of an odd signing considering they have Wilshere, Elneny, Coquelin, Ramsey and Carzola for those positions and not including Flamini.

I wouldn't be shocked by West Ham making a bid for wilshere since that is the way they operate and they probably saw a picture of him in a west ham shirt on twitter

Just thinking about it, surely Kramer going back to Gladbach makes complete sense now that Xhaka's going to Arsenal.
Possibly unless someone steps up and offers more money for Kramer. Gladbach likely won't be offering much.

It's not odd considering none of them ever stay healthy, Flamini is leaving (and is crap), and Cazorla is over 30.

They've needed a DM (or two) for ages now.

They have two in Coquelin and Elneny

I'm worried now, that's a very good signing for them unfortunately. He suits them down to the ground too considering he's a bit of a ****

Very good. Dembele type strong and creative. Signed him for us yesterday on FIFA. And Gladbach are my rl German team. Those gooners screw everything up

Wow that's them sorted then.

No depth on a team that's never plagued by injuries every single year.
My point is that they have plenty of players already that they struggle already to keep happy despite the injuries and now they added another one.

It does spell the end for one of Ramsey or Wilshere imo

Also not what they needed, listening to arsenal fans and you know that they need a striker and arguably 2 CB's

They need that but they've needed a DM for years and they need more than just Elneny. I actually am not sure what you're talking about, they've had absolutely no trouble keeping their CMs happy. Usually they're in a perpetual CM injury crisis and often have only 2 healthy ones all year.

Also Ramsey isn't a CM option anymore, when everyone is healthy Wenger plays him in the 3 behind the striker, which is probably his best position anyway as he can't defend worth a damn (wasn't he the most dribbled past player in the entire league?).

Think it will be harder to completely dominate them like we did at the Emirates this season.

Never heard of the guy personally, what type of midfielder is he?
Tenacious as fuck type. A really good signing for them, decent passer, good leader, and will always get his nose stuck in when things get tough.

Arsenal fans now calling for a 'world-class' striker. How deluded are they? There is not a single world-class striker they would be able to attract. Unless Wenger somehow convinces them that Morata is world-class.

Damn, sounds like just what they need unfortunately. They've been missing a good stuck in midfielder since Song.

Well Coquelin is really good for that, but he can't do anything else. Anything even remotely offense related is completely beyond him, Xhaka can at least chip in occasionally.

It makes you so happy and thankful that we've got Kane.

Too many teams are looking for strikers right now. More teams than there are strikers.
