The Milner news is bad news for us - they will be MUCH better with him in the middle of the park - gutted by that...only glad it wasn't to the goon squad. Worst news of the TW so far.

Milner will be a huge player for Pool, no doubt Ings will be next. I just hope this ends their interest in Kovacic.

I agree some players need time to out on loan but Milos isn't one of them

He was Middlesbrough's best player once he broke in to the team(managers words not the fans), once he did break in to it, the loan had finished. Karanke came out and said he wants to extend the loan but we decided to keep him, then after the window we decided to loan him out again as he had a couple of players in front of him, which once again he played very well for Charlton and their form did turn around at that time before dislocating his shoulder

Harry Kane only went out on loan because the manager didn't believe in him, the leicester loan was pointless

But he never broke into the Boro team, he played under 30 mins as a sub twice, played one pretty much full game and came on as an early sub in a cup game.

As for Harry Kane, frankly from the early performances he put in for us he didn't look ready for the PL. This season he stepped right up but I think the majority of fans never expected or believed he would deliver what he has either, so I don't think it was a question of a manager not believing in him but simply not seeing a player that was ready.

That's why a lot of players need to get some regular time in on loan, obviously when not getting selected to play whilst on loan makes the whole point of the loan meaningless but it still begs the same questions-why isn't a player meriting game time at a lower club that have seemingly been keen to get the player on loan and if the club itself believe the player needs playing time at another club to gain experience then when they don't play then what is there to suggest that the player no longer needs it.
Veljkovic played 428 minutes of football last season, less than 5 full games, whatever way you might want to look at it he neither got the playing time or gained the degree of experience the club wanted for him
I really fail to see how that makes him ready to challenge for a regular first team place and frankly if he's only going to get a few Europa games and maybe a CC game or two I can't help but see how yet another season of playing a handful of games is going to help his development at a key stage of his career

Another one for you Barry!! Will Hughes. Been told also (although I can't see it anywhere) that a Derby ITK has said Hughes will join us this summer. Won't make a big deal of this because it's probably crap....

Would love it to be true. But Liverpool have been sniffing around him for ages.

They have Sturridge, Balotelli(who said he isn't leaving), Lambert and Origi

Im not so sure they will look for one and perhaps rather for a sterling replacement
I'm willing to bet they'll add at least 1 or more strikers during the window.

Only good part to this. Even if we aren't ever even interested, just means they won't have him.
I think Milner is an upgrade to Allen, so it's possible they could still be after Kovacic to replace Gerrard.

James Milner is a good signing at 70k a week.
150k a week for a 29 year old- not for me.

Will Milner improve Liverpool to level it is suggested by few here ? No
Problem with Milner - he is a jack of all trades & master of none. I would bet Bentaleb or Mason would do a better job in CM than Milner. His impact at CM would be very less IMO. Will be played in wings ? don't think so.

City had the special players to win games, and the water carriers (like Milner) to sure things up. Liverpool don't have the special players that can win games, barring maybe Coutinho. Unless Liverpool sign a match-winner or two, they'll be no better with Milner than they were with Gerrard.

Tricky just put Ayew and Kono out of the question. What would be good LWF options?

Brahimi
Muniain
Insigne
Gaitan

would be class

Lestienne
Keita
Sansone

all plausible

I don't know though, there just doesn't seem to be much out there right now. Serie A seems to have the most selling clubs, unfortunately.

Milner is a good signing - certainly for next season, but he'll be a fading force soon enough.

He'll be a good signing for Liverpool but Gerrard is their talisman who still managed 9 league goals last season. Gerrard is a huge loss of epic proportion for them and Milner won't be able to fill the void.

Yeah, a lack of context is created when you click the "see new messages posted recently" link at the bottom of the thread (when a few pages behind).

But.... but? On the same page? 5 posts apart?

I see what you are doing ;)
