And looks bang average imo.

I genuinely wonder what people are seeing from him because he constantly gets hyped around here.
Expiring contract, in and out of favor with team. Over 100 professional appearances and only 22 years old. A lot of holdover from the last Olympics where he blew up big scoring 4 in 6. Played mostly the same position as Eriksen where we have been ravenous for a serious depth optupn. But his actual on field stats and output have never lined up with what we think he is.

Schalke wanted the best part of £40m for him a couple of seasons ago mainly based on potential, a bit like Fulham with Sessegnon. £40m 2 years ago was eye watering money. Barring looking like a decent DM albeit nothing special, he’s gone backwards the last 2 years. Whereas when you look at someone like Werner he’s gone from strength to strength and justifies a £40m plus price tag.

Think Home grown signing will definitely have to be on agenda .As I currently see it. In the 3 obvious areas that need upgrading.

Llorente- upgrade ok
Sissoko- upgrade ok

CM- if dembele stays and we buy foreign that’s another extra place need to find. So basically with foyth we would need to create 2 extra places with homegrown. 2nd keeper is the obvious then I guess one of 3 signings need to be homegrown.

Replace Vorm with Lopez - long term Lloris replacement.

Sissoko with Maddison?

Look into bringing Sancho back to the UK.

Central midfield, will have to look abroad as I can’t think of any homegrown players whom are available and good enough to compete with and/or be a long term replacement for Dembele.

If you get Arp as the Llorente replacement that frees up a spot.

We need a CM and a Striker/Forward. As this is a wish list, two signings to absolutely complete this squad...
Mateo Kovačić
Marcus Rashford

GK: Lloris, Pau Lopez/Alban Lafont, Gazza/Homegrown GK
RB: Aurier, KWP
LB: Davies, Sessegnon (Rose)
CB: Toby, Verts, Sanchez, Foyth, CCV?
DM: Dier, Wanyama
CM: Dembele, Winks, Frenkie de Jong
AM: Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lucas, Malcom, Pulisic (Lamela)
ST: Kane, Jan Fiete-Arp, Son

In: Pau Lopez, Ryan Sessegnon, Frenkie de Jong, Malcom, Christian Pulisic, Jan Fiete-Arp
Out: Vorm, Rose*, Sissoko, Lamela*, Janssen, Llorente

I highly doubt all of the above, but as this is the "wishlist" thread I thought I would give it a crack. Sessegnon and de Jong are the two I would like the most (and are not out of our range) with the exception of Pulisic being my top choice but much less likely.

As an aside, I do also like that N'Dombele fella. Haven't really seen him play any full 90's, but that YT compilation makes him look very much like a Poch-style of player.

I have been dreaming of this player for windows now. I seriously think he is one of the most slept on, inexpensive, versatile players in today's game. Too bad there is no youtube collective tracking his abilities, but I watch Bayer purely to watch this guy play. Leon Bailey gets the plaudits this year, but Charles is in the engine room protecting the back and connecting the attack.

For Bayer he is a bit more defensive than he is for Chile where he gets forward a bit more. He isn't flashy, but he has very nice and tidy control and has quite a bit of guile to his game. Plus he is a bulldog. Great at cutting down angles.

If anyone looks at my history you will see I am the only one saying this guys name and I am beginning to think he is my man crush.

Want:
Dembele from Celtic - ST
Gomes from Barca - CM
Malcom - AM * we’d need to then move on Lamela so not fussed either way on this one.

Other:
Sessengon: great talent and would love him at the club but if he’s a left winger and not a LB I’m not sure how much game time he’d get to be honest.

I'm just not sure why people are talking about a backup to Eriksen. Going into a brand new stadium, Poch will want to compete in all 4 competitions and that means having a realistic alternative for each position, with players being flexible as to where they play. That will then leave the other 3 in the 25 man squad available to fill in wherever they may be needed. That's the Poch philosophy, so whoever comes in would be looked at as an alternative to whoever is in the positions he plays. That said we may well be buying young players to grow into the role, so initially at least, he may be a backup but still good enough for the role with lots of potential to improve.

It should also be remembered that with the 4 competitions we could easily playing 60 odd games a season. Players can't play that number of games and maintain their form. We will need effective replacements if we are to compete.

Well, that's the theory! :cautious:

AM mainly on the left

cheers mate, he is big and strong with some decent pace but we need a CM as a priority imo

Winks is decent but back up while he is still young and learning, Moose is broken and cant be relied on

CM is one of the most important positions and I think its our biggest weakness as far as depth goes

I think the Lucas signing covered our last major deficiency in the squad. I know some say that we need a CM, but with Winks and Dembele and the possibility to play a midfield 3 with Dele and Eriksen, I don't think it's a massive priority.

I think out biggest priority now is to find someone who can step in for Eriksen. The last two weeks (the Southampton game, and then the United game) show how he important he is to us. We look utterly bereft of creativity when he's absent.

i think we also have to take into account our HG issues this season. When it comes to foreign players we're in a position where we pretty much have to sell to buy.

With those two things in mind. My 'wishlist' consists of:

IN: James Maddison, Ryan Sessegnon.

Maddison gives us genuine support for Eriksen, with the ability to also drop deeper if we play a midfield 3. HG helps as well. I think this one is a no-brainer.

Sessegnon is obvious, and also HG.

I think N'Koudou will be sold, but that makes no difference to our HG quota. If we do look to bring in more foreign players then I think the players that are potentially on the chopping block are Llorente, Sissoko, and unfortunately, Lamela and Dembele if we get offers we can't refuse. I wouldn't sell either personally, but our HG situation means we need to sell to buy and I think theyre more likely to have suitors at a good price than Sissoko.
