The central midfield situation must be somewhat dependant on Winks’s ankle. Poch seems to trust him so it would be interesting to see what happens with that.

Wanyama isn’t getting games at the moment as well so although I would like a high calibre addition in that area, I suspect it’s not that clear at the moment as to what will happen there.

Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but when is the last time a player from the championship jumped to a champions league club and succeeded? I know Dele did it but I don't know that I'm comfortable with spending a bunch of money on two players from the championship.
Dele did it from League 1

Vardy did it all from non-league. Albeit with a couple of steps inbetween.

There is next to no chance that Bale comes back to Spurs. It would cost too high of a transfer fee and his wages are simply so far out of our price range. While i’d love him back, he wont be coming back. Madrid would likely try to replace Bale will Salah so they will probably command a fee at least around 70m or so to write off at least half of the Salah fee
Glad that has finally been pointed out. Was getting a bit too excited for a second there.....

Based on what I've seen, and players we've been linked to, I'd like us to sign:

Ryan Sessegnon
I've flip-flopped on this for a while as the numbers he's been putting up look extraordinary. However, as @Hercules says, if you watch his performances you'd be forgiven for not seeing what they hype is all about.
Having said that, the guy is so young, and many people say similar things about Dele Alli. The bottom line is that he gets in the positions to make things happen and tactically is clearly smart. That's the sort of player Poch likes. You also just cannot ignore the output in terms of goals and assists, and with Rose most likely leaving it just makes sense to spend big on him.

De Ligt
With Toby off, we need another top-quality CB. He's played with Davinson before, we have a good relationship with Ajax, and I think he's the best CB prospect I've seen in years.

Central Midfielder
I have no idea who we can feasibly buy for this position, but it's pretty obvious to me that we need a top player with ball carrying and passing ability. La Liga often has players in abundance like this, and Stanislav Lobotka (Celta Vigo) is meant to be useful at that (looking at stats I can see he has over 90% pass completion this season). I guess it also depends how good we think Winks is going to be.

Future planning: James Madison
I think we're going to have to start preparing for life without Christian Eriksen. That's not to be all doom-and-gloom, and it'll most likely not be this summer, but maybe 2019. The reality about being Spurs is that when players start reaching their peak they will - by and large - look to move on, either for more money or to win league titles/challenge for the CL.

Planning a few years ahead of time is what we need to do, so we don't end up panic buying. I also really like what I've seen from James Maddison. I'd sign him this summer as he'd be an excellent rotation option. Also, as we are stacked at AM, there's even the option of dropping Eriksen back to play deeper (like we did at Bournemouth) in the games where Dembele doesn't/can't play.

Just saw a small live sample of Fekir playing for Lyon as a substitute. From what I saw I believe he is the truly world class player we need to move on to a different level (dare I say to win things). For fuller details see Lique 1 thread.

Reports in France saying Thiago Silva & Pastor will be off in the summer, which is good in terms of them getting Toby if he has to leave

Saw a story about De Ligt and how after Ajax recent defeat away to PSV (3-0), David Neres went to trudge off down the tunnel in a strop and De Ligt sprinted 60 odd yards to grab hold of him and drag him over to the Ajax fans to thank them for their support.

That's some mad leadership skills right there, particularly for an 18 year old!

Also....

I saw a quote from him where he said he won't be chasing the money if he moves away from Ajax and instead he'll be focusing on making the right decision for the progression of his career.

Love this kid.

If Liverpool get to CL won’t just be Salah they’ll have to worry about. Any lesser team ( in terms of the real big boys Liverpool are lesser) that’s got to CL final has had its team ripped apart. Could see firmino at Barca with Brazil connection and his false 9 play. Others will be after mane as well.

Not sure what this has to do with our summer transfer business but I'll bite.

I like you optimism but the big European clubs don't have the money they once did. Also Liverpool will demand massive fees for their big stars and why shouldn't they. We would do the same. Barca had been after Coutinho for a long while and it took a lot for him to put up a strop. I really don't see Liverpool being torn apart any time soon. Nobody is going to give Liverpool what they will want for Salah, he's only had one season this good and the likes of RM, Barca, City and Utd (really the only teams who have that sort of cash) will be looking at PSG primarily considering there issues with FFP or RM considering they need to raise funds. Also City and Barca and Utd will be trying to fix their defence. RM will be trying to to sell off Bale etc to try and get Mbappe, Neymar or maybe Hazard.

If Inesta really is off to China that might spark some sort of activity but more likely Griezmann with Couts dropping deep or, god forbid, they go for Eriksen which would make sense. But again, they aren't rolling in it ether and I'm not sure they have the cash to drop 100+ on any 1 player.

You sound like a rival fan talking about Spurs players hoping that their prediction comes true.

Curious as to see what everyone thought about this here. So it became common knowledge we were in for Keita Balde from Lazio this past summer who picked Monaco over us which proved to be a silly move on his part as they look to get picked apart again this summer. Would you all prefer we had gotten him in the summer vs getting Lucas Moura? Just wanted to see what peoples opinions on this were. I may lean toward Keita Balde as I think his best football is ahead of him and he can play more in that striker role when Kane needs a break. What do you all think?

would he be a perfect buy because, like Dier, he can play CD and CM?

He plays at CD for Ajax, but he is not a CD in the Prem. I honestly don't know why they are playing him there other than the fact that he creates attacks from the back line. I don't follow them too heavily, but I have to think it is because they are thin at the back and they play such a high possession style of ball, that they want as many ball players on the pitch as they can. More of a "we'll let you score 1, but we will score 2" model. Which hasn't worked since they lost the title to PSV I believe.

He is out and out a B2B mid that I liken to a mix between Iniesta and Fabregas. He carries the ball like the former, but plays a bit deeper and controlled like Fabregas. He is truly class and I can see why Barca want him. He is the player they hoped Sergi Samper would be IMO.

@dtxspurs the above post from @JonnySpurs is what we are looking for. Keita burnt his bridge with Poch by playing with us over the course of last transfer window and took a higher paying gig. We are looking for players that want to be here and are not out for the paper but rather the glory.

@Cravenspurs I'm just asking people to speculate that none of that happened and Keita signed here, would people have preferred that or Lucas?

Apologies. Then yeah if all things are equal, I believe people were more jazzed about Keita at the time. He is a bit more versatile as he can play all across the front 3. Ability wise he has it all. But there were grumblings that he was a bit of a twat and that Poch would have to put work into shaping his attitude.
