Dembele is my biggest concern now. If he goes that appointment has got to be the right one. Such a crucial role. Even if he doesn't go, succession planning should be happening now anyway

Rose won't leave - No big team will touch him after his injury woes this season.

There's better value on the continent elsewhere e.g Telles, Grimaldo, Hector, Max, etc...

Whilst they haven't played much of a part this season, Toby and Rose have been essential in getting to this point. To lose them as well as Dembele would be a kick in the dick anyway, and especially if we are seriously looking at players like Evans to replace.

Kept being told a marquee signing would arrive this summer. That would mean we would need to sign 4 players approaching the world class bracket. Anything less and we go backwards. Which would be a real disappointment. I can understand the club cashing in on the 3 mentioned, but we absolutely have to replace with similar or better quality.

They have been the best, but all three have seen him miss time with injury as take time to find his fitness, rhythm and form. We only usually see peak Dembele for less than 20 matches a season. If we could find someone of similar quality who could perform for 40+ matches, that could really give us a boost. The season almost collapsed in November because we had such central midfield issues.

20 games with Dembele is better than no games. I think it would help winks development filling in for him as well

He probably does but let's face it he's on borrowed time and only has one more big contract left in him. Will he still have the same options at the end of next season. The odds are against it IMO. I'd he gets a big contract offer you can't blame him for taking it.

I understand that from Dembele point of view but from thinking for the clubs and my point of view we would be better off with Dembele in the squad next season

This is the wrong mindset in my opinion. We can no longer rely on sentiment. I love Demeble, but his body can no longer last the rigours of a full PL season. We need to be able to rely on players and as sad as it is, we cannot rely on Dembele.

If we are to become a bigger club who can compete on all levels, we need to top with the sentimental bullshit.

lets be honest, the money Dembele could still earn playing for Tottenham, in a beautiful city, with good friends, with his new child is just as good as shifting a family and kid to CHINA for a couple years. It's not like the guy is playing for peanuts

I dont think the problem ever is who we get rid of its who we get in to replace them.

With Walker this season we failed for example.

@Bus-Conductor have you seen much of Ellyes Skhiri? Only watched him a couple of times but seems a composed player. Also while you’re at it, Benjamin Andre?

I personally quite like Manu Trigueros. Probably not a sexy enough name for some of you but a good, incisive player from midfield who would add a fair bit of class and awareness to our moves.

Or we could just sign Savic from Lazio (never going to happen).

Alderweireld and Rose have had such a little influence on the season, we’re already cushioned from feeling their loss. Dembele would be different.

But again, he’s played 60% of the last two seasons, and about 20% of that at peak performance.

As long as we spend wisely, I don’t think any of Alderweireld, Rose or Dembele should be catastrophic

But our best form always coincides with him finding his. As I said before, I totally understand why we may consider moving on from him, but it’s absolutely cricitcal we get the right person in to replace him.

There is a life post-Dembele. I think that we will change how we will play however. More of a 4-3-3 Puul style.

I remember saying the same thing when Tevez went there and got short shrift. I was given the 'anybody would do it to double their money' but I fail to see how that works out when you should already have millions in the bank. It's a bit different if you're taking home a few hundred each week. Dragging your settled family off half way round the world to a completely alien culture seems extremely selfish to me.

Maybe the family want to live in China for a year or two? It does happen fairly often.

Had it been Qatar or UAE however...

I see that but humans adapt and so do our wants. Dembele might be wondering whether the move could buy him a mansion in LA...

People need to stop being so little England about things. You’re a young man in real world sense (even if old for a footballer), you have a few years left in your career, if someone’s going to offer you the money to also experience a new culture, way of life, adventure. China and India are fascinating places rich with history and culture, why not get paid a tonne, have an easier job and get to satisfy your intellectual curiosity all in one.

Paid a ton, extend playing life and most important of all, much lower taxes. If one factor in all these, Dembele should be able to make a few times more then say a one year enhanced contract at Spurs.

I'd have to guess that, for a guy with chronic pain/injuries like him, there's more urgency in getting that last contract. Additionally, I'd have to think the longer he puts off that last payday the more difficult it would be for him to pass a physical especially for big money.
