He can play both, and playing LB in our system means you play largely in the opposition half for most games.
Yeah, we definitely need more attacking impetus at left back. I think Sessegnon would provide that and there aren't many better options. I think Pochettino would get him defending well, but Davies will still be with us too you'd think for a more experienced head.

Give Aurier and Moura a chance to form a partnership on the right... they both will come good...
Moura may be, but not so sure about Aurier. I think he has a combustible personality that does not lead to playing football intelligently and consistently..

I think for games like yesterday, where there isn’t much counter attacking space, you could leave Son out and play 3-4-3 too. That would be the beauty of Sessegnon. Gives real flexibility, tactically.

The problem is, although he's taken the Championship by storm with his attacking play and goals etc even Fulham fans say that he's not that great at defending yet.

I think they would spend walker money on Rose, they spent more than that for a guy six months off a free transfer. That said I want Rose to stay, he is our best full back by some way.

I'm not convinced, Sanchez is a star name plus a lot of it was ego in pipping pep and city to him. If Rose had been fit or had a good season he'd be gone, he's not a star name right now. Also he's 28 in July, which again wouldn't matter to Utd but he hasn't shown he's going to get back to best yet. Even for Utd I think it would be crazy risky spending £40m on him in a season Mourinho must win the league.
Agree he's by a mile best full back at club when fit.

Neither is Aurier, but we’ve managed to get through a whole season with his errors this year..

I was listening to the On The Continent podcast yesterday and one of the journalists (I think it was James Horncastle) was raving about Jean-Michel Seri. Says he’s the complete midfielder.

Could we get him?

He still got chillblains which makes it hard for him to play anywhere north of France.

Yeah, Sessegnon is a great talent, no doubt about that. But if we want a LB that will take us to the next level instantly I doubt Sessegnon is the answer.

I can see a scenario where we sign Sessegnon:
  • All Spurs fans are ecstatic
  • Sessegnon does a few cameos in the league and some 90 minutes in the EFL cup during the 18/19 season
  • Us fans are angry because Pochettino won't give him a chance etc..
  • Pochettino says he's a fantastic talent but needs more training and experience at the highest level
I just believe it's highly unlikely that Sessegnon would come in and take a place in the first eleven in his first season. The sentiment around here seems to be that we need real quality signings this window to keep our momentum going. Which is why I'm a bit baffled surrounding all the rave about signing Sessegnon. I can see a clash between reality / expectations if we sign Sessegnon.

That’s a fair point. Still think we need a bit of fire and spice on the pitch. We can be too nice at times, and Aurier could give a bit of edge to us.

Don't understand this assumption that Rose is off. I'd be very surprised if he isn't here next season. Only two clubs in league could afford him/would want him. City won't want him as Mendy is a new signing and they just won the league without him.

That only leaves Utd, I am seriously struggling to see Utd spending Walker money on Rose. He's been injured pretty much all season, when he has played he's looked unfit and out of form. He's not a superstar that Utd would not care about this. They'll look elsewhere at the price we'd want, next season is huge for Mourinho and Rose is too big a risk.

Hopefully, as personally a fit and in form Rose is head and shoulders above Davies and takes us up a level.

Well said mate, i just dont understand why everyone thinks Rose will be off in the summer.
If he isnt fit enough or good enough to be Spurs first choice left back then what other top side would want him and pay the huge amount of money Levy would demand?
At the moment Rose is constantly injured, unfit, out of shape and outspoken. If he thinks a top top side will be calling for him then he is badly mistaken.
He aint going to get better than Spurs at the moment. It will be a shock if he isnt here next season.

What if he has a good World Cup?

Not quite correct. We spent what was big money for the time in January one season to get players in who could secure our place in the Premier League.

At the same time we had sold Keane and Berbatov that previous summer.

The net spend was approximately 25 million that year (08/09). It was a defensive move, as relegation would have proved far more costly.

The underlying point I wanted to make was the notion that the net spend on players (excluding wages) could exceed 100 million this summer. Nothing in the boards previous history or actions support such a theory. It`s simply implausible.

Rose Toby Sissoko Llorente Janssen GKN will all leave and personally think I’d sell Trippier and Lamela. Trippiers reached his level and just doesn’t have the pace to stretch teams.. doesn’t seem to want to cross at the moment either which is supposedly his strength. Lamela doesn’t contribute enough goals for me and we can get better. Need to stop fucking round buying squad players.. Can fill those positions with youth players. This summer will determine how ambitious our board is. Everyone in and around us will be spending and showing they’re ambition, we now have to make a decision.. do we accept that coming top 4 is successful and continue with purchasing young players improving them and selling on for profit or do we spend enough to improve significantly and go for trophies. Cross road stage for the club

If Rose stays then Davies has to go. Whereas at RB, Aurier won’t be sold as he hasn’t had a full preseason yet, Trippier on the other hand simply isn’t good enough. We need like for like full backs and this could be resolved with 2 departures and the single signing of Pereira (can play both left and right back). We can then promote KW-Peters and have a choice of the following full backs:

Aurier, Pereira, Rose, KW-Peters

The Trippier funds would cover the Pereira purchase.

Centre back, likewise the Alderweireld funds would cover signing De Ligt.

Dembele + Sissoko would generate sufficient money to sign Frenkie De Jong. With Llorente and Janssen monies going towards Diawara.

We would then only need a net outlay for a new number 2 and say Maddison and Bale? or an alternative player such as Werner for example.
