I hope you are right.

I think a lot depends on what happens with Rose.

However Sessegnon is prob not a replacement for Rose but that is another topic altogether.
I think if we could get him for £50m and a fair wage Levy would authorise the signing.

Wage demand and competition is our main threat to this signing.

See I don't think he could Dharmabum, I'd say Lamela is a no10 and more of a free roaming forward whilst Eriksen has grown to play as a CMF and a regista, I don't think Lamela could dictate a game as well as Eriksen because his natural thought is to a always play forward. The role Eriksen plays require you to be 2 steps ahead of the majority of players on the pitch and to map out moves in their head and orchestrate the play, I wouldn't say that about Lamela at all - his play is more instinctive.
Yes, I have to agree that you are mostly right but
You sign, to train.
Yes, those were the good ol'd days. You really think "star" players are not concerned about playing time when they join a new club?

Signing Sessegnon needs to be our number 1 priority this summer. In addition to his potential we desperately need more English players. If we don’t get him all the alternatives we’ve been linked with are foreign, meaning we’re going to have to bring in at least 1 English player elsewhere which is a major issue as there’s a severe lack of decent English talent about.

If only we could lay our hands on a two or three U20 or U18 WC winners...

Brian McBride urges Christian Pulisic to consider Liverpool over Manchester United as it'd be better for his development.

Do you agree?

i think there was itk (not sure it was trix or hercules) stating that the pursuit of sessegnon is not related to rose's situation

I see what you mean, and do agree with most of what you say - particularly that Lamela is more of a roaming forward. And, although Lamela's never given a chance to play in the role of dictating a game there may be a reason for that
But Eriksen is most probably one of the best "playmakers" in the world right, I dare say, and could walk into most teams, so comparing Lamela with Eriksen is not totally fair :sneaky:
Lamela, though, has a knack of picking out dangerous passes and he's better tackler than Eriksen.
However, my point (which was not crystal clear I must admit) was more that I would rather prefer to use Lamela as option for the playmaker role rather than playing Malcom there, as I see Malcom much more as a wide forward and that it would take him time to adjust with Spurs way of playing and it would be better that he focused on one role while "learning".

And Lamela doesn't have the ability to play with both feet; something Eriksen does.
Why are so many people so concerned about left-footers not using their right foot "enough" while one rarely hears about right-footers not using their left-foot enough?
I agree that Eriksen is a better with his "wrong" foot than Lamela but one can argue that Lamela is a much better tackler and, although he's not known for his ability in the air, he sure is better than Eriksen ;)
PS! Without drawing comparison to Lamela here ....3 of the best players the world have seen were very "left-footed-only": Puskas, Maradona, Messi (plus Hagi, Raul, Dragon Dzajic, Rivelino, Piet Keizer, Gerson)

You mean the ones that have failed to flatter during their loans? Edwards and Onomah both having being told to grow up. If they were ready and up to the standard they’d already be in the 1st team squad. There’s a massive difference between looking good in a kids competition and being up to the expected standard of premier league football. We’ve made that mistake before by signing various foreign kids only for them to never make the grade and disappear into the wilderness.

If Alderweireld doesn’t sign then a young left footed CB of the standing of Sanchez, not sure who that would be

Would like a top quality centre midfielder with the best qualities of Winks, Sissoko and Dembele, not sure who that would be

Replacements for any players who decide to push through a move for mega wages ala Walker, not sure who those will be

We do need to do some business as new quality signings keep the squad on their toes and shows the commitment from the board

I don't like to usually get caught up in hype and hyperbole, but this Frenkie De Jong kid is mind blowing. 20 years old, and his composure, vision and control are mind blowing. This guy is not just the successor to Moose, he is the heir apparent. I believe ITK said we were looking at shopping in our favourite candy store again in the summer, and I really hope Frenkie is who we have been looking at.

I think with us moving into our new stadium Levy will want to put bums on seats so keeping those players we have and strengthening is almost guaranteed imo.
Need a striker, AGAIN, someone who actually fits the bill for how we play and is a recognised PL goal scorer. Doesn't have to be a world beater but even someone like Defoe for example who, although nothing like Kane, knows where the net is and who even now would score a shit load for us given the chances we create. He'd definetely have scored yesterday imo.
Toby will sign.
With Lamela back and if he stays fit we dont need Eriksen cover anymore imo. Lamela has just as much vision and trickery fkery as Eriksen.
Maybe a future Dembele replacement as has been mentioned but we don't need much.
What we need more than anything is some silverware.
Please God, Zeus, Buddah, Allah, Bob Dylan on a motor scooter, Odin, Ra, Eddie Vedder, anyone out there listening, help us get a trophy pleaseeee.

I thought this too. Has played CB too, so could play the Dier/Wanyama role, but also has the ability to slalom upfield with the ball Dembele style, perhaps with a better range of passing though. Really looks some player.

Doesn't necessary mean anything but he's saying that he would rather go to Spain because of the nice weather and higher level of the Spanish league compared to the prem... around 13:10 for those who's interested. Would love to get him though - amazing talent.

So, speaking of strikers as back up to Harry Kane, what are the realistic options?

Old veteran, young and hungry player, or £70m forward in his prime (bit unlikely)?

Who do you guys like the look of out there?
