So one apparently bad game and now Sessegnon's overrated and not worth it. Interesting. Let's just ignore the fact he's scored 14 league goals (so far) at the age of 17.

Some posters have been saying for months that Sess is overrated.

Completely unfair to misinterpret this opinion as being based on today’s game.

I think ultamately Sess will be special. Worth remembering Sanchez has looked ragged in certain games but I think we're all confident it's money well spent.

He has been the first choice psg left back but having given him a chance at he start of the season, Emery has preferred Berchiche - including for the games against Real Madrid recently. Ultimately Emery preferred a player who was more solid defensively.

A respected youth coach who knows him well said recently that his career is stalling. He is excellent going forward but weaker defensively. His positioning is suspect and he is having a difficult time mentally. His form is hugely inconsistent.

An microcosm of this is the game against Lyon away where he scored a great goal but then his misplaced pass led to Lyons winner.

He has just been dropped by Deschamps for the french squad which is big news here. Emery said in his last press conference that Kurzawa needs to find his confidence.

Conclusion: I suspect this is lazy journalism. A player reportedly wants out and is obviously keen on a move - psg have done a lot of business with spurs recently. He has undoubted strengths but in the end this deal is not for me.

However Poch knows how to handle players and does wonders for fullbacks in particular. As a wingback he would excel - it could be like having the old rose.

Also Aurier and Moura will be able to provide excellent insight, as will Lloris. If these 4 are for it and we can get a good price (10/15mill less than rose) then it may be worth a punt...

Edit: Emery’s press conference comments about Kurzawa biggest football story this morning. Must do better - promises to work with him to help him find form.

The problem with Kurzawa and why he is seen as stalling is probably the same reason Aurier was seen as the same. These players, especially the fullbacks, are not tested defensively at all in that team. Because PSG have 60-80% of the ball in every game, full backs like Aurier and Kurzawa and Dani Alves are allowed to focus on the attacking side because they have little defensive responsibility.

The common theme is that they lack quality positioning, and I think this is all linked. Plus, these fullbacks have had a string of pretty good defenders behind them (T.Silva, Marquinhos, David Luiz in the past and Kipembe now) so that these guys will generally mop up.

Gregory van der Wiel was another who took flack for being poor defensively, despite all of them being good attackers. Already we have seen with Aurier though that he is improving that side to his game, but he does still lapse from time to time. Kurzawa is a fiery full back, made history this year by scoring a Hat Trick in the CL group stage! If Rose left we could do much worse, playing for PSG and formerly Monaco, he knows a high level of football, as well as his boys Serge and Lucas, and his National captain.

If he is coachable, I say go for it if the price is right. Only thing means selling Rose to somewhere in Manchester, which I would not agree with...

I’m certainly qualified to talk on his abilities, so no knee-jerk. He is max 25-30m player, based on what he has achieved. No way 60m, and I wouldn’t spend that in him neither. I would love him here, but not at a ridiculous price.

Would be better value at Ajax

We do need to worry about the amount of foreign players for our registration do we not? If I'm not mistaken we're currently pressed to the limit as is.

So for any foreign purchases I imagine there will have to be a one in and one out policy.

Also makes me think we'll see a few more homegrown purchases as well.

No need for 3 foreign keepers.

I'd keep Vorm as he's a great keeper but surely Gazzaniga is expendable for a homegrown choice.

Gazz not good enough as a number 2
This upcoming window feels very curious to me. Hardly any moves I feel we "need" to do but a lot of moves it feels like we could end up doing based on how contract situations and player satisfaction moods roll. Things like settling on a #2 if Vorm leaves and what if Toby or Rose leave, etc.

Hope Vorm don’t leave

People can still rate a player even if they say that they're overrated. I've been a massive proponent of Sessegnon since he was 15 years old, and for 50-60 million I question if he'll be that Rooney/Bale type that would justify that sort of price.

So you're saying 30.1 million, no?

Sorry, are you talking about Sessegnon, or, this French LB from PSG?

Then we should probably get rid and have one of the youth like Whiteman or Austin take over as #3.

Pau Lopez was the obvious choice and possible long term Lloris replacement but if reports are correct and he’s off the Real Betis then we’ll be in a bit of a pickle if Vorm leaves and Gazzaniga deemed not good enough.
