I think a back up to Eriksen is a bigger need than a back up to Kane.
This probably cannot be over-stated. We can play with a mixed group of attacking players if Kane is out - but we clearly lack anyone to pull the strings after Eriksen.

Having said that, with the right frame of mind - I think Lamela can do that. And, maybe Edwards can develop into that player. Either way, we have to know for sure this summer, and get a back-up in place.

Yes this thread is back can't understand why it needs to be locked during the transfer window. (n)

Because there is an entire section of the forum opened up specifically to discuss possible in's and out's. No point in having the same stuff discussed in multiple places when the transfer section is hard enough to police.

In fact I don't see why anyone would need this thread to be left open unless it's because they have lost access to the transfer window section, and if that's the case remember it's their own fault they have nowhere to discuss what's going on.

If we can't get Toby to sign up we should try for De Ligt. Kovacic would be a dream signing IMO. We could do with another CM if Onomah isn't going to make it and Kovacic could play at 10 as well. Sessegnon is a no brainer if we can get him. Arp up top. If we could shift Sissoko, GKN, Llorente, possibly Rose and Trippier if KWP is to get a chance we'd be in pretty good shape.

Whilst true, there's nowhere in the transfer section to discuss a wishlist.

For specific players perhaps, and only ones who we've been linked to by (somewhat) credible sources at that.

I am not banned from the transfer forum, but to me this is an obvious avenue to discuss things that we can't over there.

I can see both sides - I like the wish list thread as a catch-all discussion of players that might fit, even if we are not linked. I would think it could be the thread that keeps most of the ITK thread from being de-railed so frequently when it goes off-topic.

But, the flip side is, Rob and A&C and the other mods are trying to create a good experience here where you know where to look for specific content - keeps people from having to jump all over the place to find a particular discussion. For instance, they made a strong push this year to keep all ITK in a single thread, and even out of the player threads - so that anyone who really just wanted that info did not have to dive through all the player threads looking for ITK nuggets.

I'm not entirely sure why Gazzaniga couldn't be 2nd, and a kiddo from the academy be 3rd. I thought Gazzaniga played admirably this season (when he played, which is like 90 minutes).

I think since we would like to keep the possibility for playing 3 CBs, adding a CB probably wouldn't hurt. I'm starting to believe Carter-Vickers may not have a future with Tottenham. Burnley's Tarkwoski could be interesting to me, as could Frenkie de Jong, and Benjamin Pavard.

I've been going on and on about this for the better part of a year, but we are in need of an amazing CM. Kovacic, or Goretzka would be the type of signing I think we should stretch the limits for. Again, there is an Ajax player by the name of Donny van de Beek who also would be of interest. He is NOW on a lower level than the aforementioned players, but in the future he can become big.

After signing Moura, I don't really think we have pressing AM needs if we manage to keep everybody else, but Pulisic could be interesting.

When it comes to Kane, I think we shouldn't completely buy into the "Kane will never leave"-hype. He MAY never leave, then again, he may. This is football, and categorically dismiss future outgoings is nonsensical. However, personally, I'd be surprised if he didn't want at least one season in the new stadium. Behind him, I'd be happy to keep one of Janssen and/or Llorente. It doesn't matter to me who is back-up striker, but I firmly believe that Batshuayi would fit the system well and would have had a better time being back-up for Kane that what he himself imagines.

I've already mentioned players at Ajax, I believe there are several players who could be of interest. de Jong and van de Beek, but also players like Justin Kluivert.

As last summer, I think Bundesliga keep being a very interesting league for buying players for all positions in the early to mid twenties age bracket. There are too many interesting players to start listing beyond who are already mentioned, and I'd really like to see some Bundesliga shopping in the summer.
Goretzka has already signed a deal with Bayern.

So much depends on players we already have imo. If Lamela, Onomah and Edwards start to fulfill their potential then we don't need to buy CM and another attacking player. Otherwise these are the positions we have to strength at first.

There is also the Spurs Scouting Thread which sort of serves as a wishlist of player highlights but sort of rambles around and unfocused.

Fair point, but how long would this stay a wishlist only thread if it were left open during the window?

Oh I agree. It should be shut down for the transfer window, just highlighting a difference.

Keepers
No decision to be made on Lloris. Not too fussed either way on Vorm but he's a quality keeper so we'd have to replace him adequately. If we do bring someone in i'd prefer it to be someone HG. I don't know much about them but any of Woodman, Danny Ward or Angus Gunn potentially? I also like Christian Walton a lot who's on loan at Wigan from Brighton, he's an excellent prospect. Tbh if anything i'd probably offer Vorm another year and replace Gazza with someone homegrown.

Defence
Not much needs doing but obviously going to massively depend on the Danny Rose situation. Happy to keep him if he wants to stay and his fitness levels are up to scratch. If not bring in Sessegnon or alternatives like Grimaldo or Tierney etc. If Bennetts is up to it then fuck it even give him a go in pre-season.

CBs are generally fine but will need a look if Toby goes as we might need more backup in that situation. For me going forward Dier should play here too.

At RB a decision needs to be made on KWP situation. Either trust him as no2 or find a good loan for him. Trippier out if KWP is promoted.

Midfield
Big signing needs to be made here, maybe even two. I like Kondogbia and Diawara a lot, and it would be nice if we went for De Jong too as a bit of a wildcard. I'd take Dier out of the CM equation as said before and obviously i'd be looking for suitors for Sissoko. Possibility to bring through Onomah or TOB on the periphery as squad players.

I'd keep hold of Dembele just in case we can't get the players we want to in but providing we do i'd be willing to accept a decent offer if one came in for him later in the window, especially if TOB and Onomah are looking good.

Attack
I'm not overly fussed about Malcom. Obviously a talented player but would cost an awful lot of money for a position we're already strong in. I'd leave the big bucks to be spent on a CM. Lamela maybe out if he does come in though as they seem similar players and our squad depth is perfect numbers wise at the moment.

GKN can go as we've already replaced him.

I'd look at Maddison depending on a few factors. The first would be whether we could get him for a sensible price and the second would be the other players added to the squad. If Onomah impresses and we bring in De Jong for instance, then I don't think there's a real need for him, we could just simply adapt our formation if Eriksen is missing.

Second priority after CM for me is a replacement for Llorente. I'd take Arp but i'd prefer someone who is more versatile across the front three/four. Would be expensive but options could be Richarlison, Inaki Williams, Correa, Chiesa, M Dembele etc. If Arp is affordable then maybe we could bring him in too and look to loan him somewhere to get him games. I don't think this is an absolutely vital signing though- we especially don't need anyone top drawer but it would be nice to have some extra quality.

Perfect window for me is Diawara, Williams and De Jong in with Sissoko, GKN, Janssen, Llorente, CCV and maybe Dembele and Trippier heading for the exit door.

Lloris, Vorm, Walton
Aurier, KWP, Foyth, Dier, Toby, Verts, Sanchez, Rose, Davies
Wanyama, Winks, Diawara, De Jong, TOB/Onomah
Eriksen, Alli, Son, Lamela, Lucas, Williams
Kane

Yes there is. The player threads. Say for example we've been linked to Mahrez and there's a thread for him, you could easily post in there that you'd prefer it if we signed someone else who hasn't been linked and the discussion will evolve from there. So not only is the idea that there's nowhere for wishlisting incorrect, there are actually a lot of threads where you can do just that :D

And get accused of derailing the thread. This seems a good place for everyone to post their squad building ideas in one place. Not for one moment saying it should be open during the transfer window.

I think we need a place to discuss stuff like that though. We went over it after the summer window as well, if im not mistaken. We’re missing a thread where we can discuss this type of stuff. Player threads are strictly for that player whose been linked in genuine media outlets. ITK threads is strictly for ITK. We dont have a general spurs transfer discussion thread and i think that would go a long way in cleaning up the Transfer section and save Rob and A&C alot of headaches with the ITK thread.

"The type of signing" signifies, and granted I didn't grow up learning English, but if I'm not mistaken it signifies giving general examples, which I believe one would be allowed to do without implying that one is under the impression that that exact player can be in fact signed.

I think it was probably the most requested thing after the summer window closed when Rob asked for ideas.

I found it a little odd that it wasn’t part of the transfer section this time out. Don’t think it’d be that hard to just lift this thread and drop it in a different sub forum for a month.
