If we do buy a CM I would want it to be someone older rather than a young CM. Someone like N’Zonzi for example so we don’t completely block Winks & Onomah path and we bring in a player that could do the job straight away rather than give someone time to adjust. And I can’t believe there are so many Spurs fans already giving up on Onomah, the boy is class and is the perfect Dembele replacement. Just give him time

We have been linked to Cristante & Delaney as well as Doucoure, looks like we want a true box to box player, for a 433 or atleast the option of changing a game, very interesting, genuinely have no clue who we will get this summer, also the deadline closes before the season starts so we have got to work quick

I don't see a big money CB coming in personally even if Toby leaves. Don't see Foyth hanging around too long after next season unless he is getting more game time. Foyth jan, Sanchez and Dier is plenty IMO, especially if we bring the n another CM.

de Ligt, de Jong and Kluivert all look top prospects.

If I had a choice, we’d be all over Frenkie de Jong... he looks like he could be a world beater.

De Ligt would be perfect if we intend on playing 3 at the back. He won't come to sit on the bench - he's too good for that.

Foyth needs some games - I'm not sure how Poch is intending to utilise him right now. Be a real shame to lose him as I think he's excellent.

Yep, it's Cristante.

Out of interest who is the journo that wrote the piece?

Always used to buy him in older versions of FM. FYI he was always a solid if unspectacular midfielder averaging about 7 a season but not getting many goals or assists. Based on that he sounds perfect for dembele doesn’t he!?!?

I have seen very little of him tbh, and from what I'm told he's just one if a few options but he's the only name I've been given thus far. What I do know is that at least one person at the club thinks very highly of him though, and believes he looks far more suited to the Prem than to the Italian game.

I'd agree with this if I was convinced about Dier as a top-level CB, but tbh, I'm not. When he had an extended run there I thought our security at the back noticeably dropped. I think he's now a DM who can play in defence.

Dier played a chunk of last season (and games like Real Madrid this) at CB and we had our best ever season last year for 50 years.

Alderweireld couldn't get a game at CB at AM and ended up on loan at a mid table PL club to get a game. Dier's way ahead of that curve as a CB.

When it comes to the Italian link a few pages back. We're known to have kept an eye on Chiesa for years now.

Not to mention a returning zzz CCV, who appears to have had a stormer of a second half of the season. Penny dropped perhaps?

When it comes to the Italian link a few pages back, Trix actually went ahead and explicity said it was Bryan Cristante, but full marks for trying... :playful:

Regardless of Dembele’s future, Tottenham are keen to strengthen their midfield during the summer and had hoped Italy’s Bryan Cristante would play a part against England at Wembley on Tuesday night.

Spurs have been tracking Cristante, who is on loan at Atalanta from Benfica, but he was left on the substitutes’ bench by Italy. He has played all through the age groups for his country and made two senior appearances.

From Telegraph piece on Dembele. Looks like we have @Trix Italian player...

I think it’s been said on here and I’m in total agreement we shouldn’t be looking for a back up striker, we should be looking at another Son type, someone that can play as a striker and offer something in midfield.

Not a Son type per se, but Fekir can play as a striker, and AM (pretty much anywhere across), and also drops and gets involved in midfield too at times. I worry his character might not be completely compatible with Poch's but as a footballer he ticks a shit load of boxes.

Yeah Arnautovic crosses my mind every now and again, did do when at Stoke. Seems like such a wasted talent be 29 in April. In theory he’d be great as a target man that can also play wide. So you’d get that 2 in 1 player, but a different option to Son as more of a focal point. But ultimately he’s just too inconsistent and moody. Wouldn’t be surprised though if a top 6 took a chance on him next season.
