I'm not a scout so have no idea who is available but last night showed we need a bit more quality when up against the top teams. As a club our mentality and approach needs to change, a couple of hardened players with real quality are required, not youngsters with potential.

Any chance of getting arturo vidal? Munich now have lot of midfielders at their ranks... May be they will be willing to sell vidal now

What last night showed is we need players that will improve the starting X1 not cover or depth. In the last few years we've shown we're good enough for the top 4 but to challenge for the title we need star quality. I've no idea who is available within our framework but most of the names mentioned on here are stocking fillers.

Totally agree.

Losing Walker and rose (effectively) and having to revert to 4231 has made us soft against the counter attack.

I honestly think a pair of rapid full backs is essential to our system.

I think a decision on kwp needs to be made. Ithink we should make him the back up rb and one of the others should go.

Just got off the phone with my mate. He says a CM(maybe 2) and a LB. Anything else will be dependant on outgoings.

I would like to see us get a new left back (not Sessegnon as see him further up).

Thiago being linked with Man City. Don't think Vidal leaving Bayern Munich for us is realistic. His wages is above our paygrade

I remember I said us getting Lucas made sense and alot on here were baffled and disappointed when we were first linked, but a few years ago he was one of the best young players around, for me a deal for Andre Gomes is great, has the physicality to do well in the Prem, great technique with both feet, drives forward with good ball retention. A few years back he was also one of the most wanted young players too. Him and Dier would be great, especially because Dier can speak Portuguese to help him throughout a match.

Alot of people will disagree but a deal to me seems so obvious

Yeah, I too were positive towards Andre Gomes but I read an article a few days ago (...I'll try to find it later) going through his stats at Barca. Apparently he has very low amount of successful tackles which is worrying considering the PL is a much more physical league than La Liga. In his defence that might be related to how few games he actually plays 90 minutes. Anyway, Gomes would still be a huge upgrade passing wise, just as you say.

The kind of CM's we need are the ones that are good both defensively and offensively, unfortunately those are the kind who usually cost a fortune. Someone like Milinkov-Savic would be ideal but as stated above he'll most likely join United at some ridiculous fee.

Just got off the phone with my mate. He says you should stop believing these dreamers and trust in the management to get the right players in. Anything else will be bullshit.

Who are the dreamers you should stop believing?

I think we need more of a ball playing maestro that can transit us from defence to attack much quicker than what we do now atm - don't see gomez being that player. Dier is a clear dm (actually he's a cb playing i midfield) the same as Wanyama, but Dembele is something of a multi functional box to box player with different qualities. His dribling, strenght and skill when it comes to shielding the ball has to be his top qualities. I love Dembele but he's not particulary good at finding a pass. We need a creative passer with a football brain next to our dm (wanyama or dembele). Shame Winks struggles so much atm. I think he coulda been that player.

This summer, is a big one for us, probably bigger and more important than ever before. We hopefully will have CL football, new stadium and high expectations. We also need to be conscious that City, United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal will all look to strengthen in a shorter window, so we need to have our targets lined up for a quick and assertive recruitment strategy.

Sorry to go on about prices. But with Wembley behind us (69k a week) and the new stadium with the most expensive season tickets in the world. Plus CL football. Id expect some interesting signing. At the very least some world class prospects. Maybe an experienced CM thrown in.

This summer is huge.... and if you remember in Jan window, the ITKs (you know who they were) kept talking about an exciting summer and plans already in place, so lets see.

We certainly need a big summer as all the teams around us will, going into new stadium with CL football is amazing after being away from a real home for a season so the lads have done well but we need to strengthen with real quality first team players to put competition in, we were shown yesterday just how short we really are.

No need for ott changes because we had a jank first half hour yesterday against the best side in the country.

Obviously the midfield is a bit of an issue, but one thing that is a touch worrying for me is the amount of players we have who are good for a brain fart or two. It’s not easy on the nerves watching the likes of Hugo, Aurier, Sanchez and Dier knocking it about twenty yards from our own goal

I agree. I don’t think Aurier will be with us next season. Poch doesn’t seem to trust him. Difficult to get good fullbacks though, which makes me think we should try all we can to get Rose to stay and back in the team.
