Selling our most experienced players and then buying young players and waiting for them to mature. When they mature and can perform in big game, then we will sell them again and back to square one

Ive always said that. We will always be a young side. Then you get the smug responses but they will get older - yes they will, but they wont be playing for spurs then

Walker and toby are experienced PL players and we would have got rid in back to back seasons

Not sure we are choosing to get rid rather the players are choosing to move and are forcing our hand. What do you suggest we should do to stop these players leaving when we have to work within a sensible budget ?

Didn't we offer Toby 150k and he then asked for 200k and a release clause to let him go wherever he wanted in the mix? I agree that we should be trying to hang onto our elite players but we can't be held to ransom either. The teams we are in direct competition with also have a budget that makes a mockery of the FFP rules. We have to live with that.

So according to the ES article he wanted to "more than treble his wages", which would imply £150-180k p/w. So I was slightly off there, but not massively.

I don't think it's about being held to ransom, rather it's about raising our wage cap by 75% - 100%, and sticking to our new wage cap.

We should've bought Keita last summer when we had the chance...

Edit: Just to be clear, this post is an attempt at lampooning the named poster's ridiculous and oft repeated position on Sessegnon.

Jean Michel Seri is very similar if not better, and wouldn't cost 70/80m like Keita did

His technique is above average, he can't play at his own pace, he'd get lots of bookings in centre midfield simply because he miscontrolled the ball.

If Henderson can steal a living playing cm and play for his country regularly then dele could do it with 1 leg inserted into his own arsehole.

He was a cm before he came to us also and made a big enough name for himself to be noticed bought and played every week by a top four prem side

So you want one of Dele or Eriksen to be dropped?
Where are you getting that from? Why would I want to drop our most intelligent player?
Which is possibly why the quick players Poch keeps buying are rarely trusted to start games
Which pacey players are you referring to?
Edit: And for the record I agree with BC that quickness of the brain is far more valuable than quickness of the legs.
And we have little of either. There is value out there. It's a matter of finding it.

Out:
Janssen £10 / Nkoudou £6 / Sissoko £20 / Llorente £12/ Davies £35 / Toby £50 / Dembele £35 / Onomah £18 / CCV £20 / Vorm £10 / AURIER! £25 = £241m
you replaced rose for davies - you are very optimistic on your pricing

He's got some sort of medical condition where he can't handle cold and wet weather (allegedly), so don't think there's much chance for us. Good player though.

I'd say 95% of those games were in an attacking midfield position.

I don't think he can be trusted in a midfield pairing. He can work in a three but then he'd be an attacking midfielder again so no real change to his role.

Completely different players with completely different skill sets. You couldn’t trust Alli in a Cm2 at our level, he’s nowhere near diligent or dynamic enough.

You could play him in the right 433 sometimes, but how often does Poch play a 433?

Today’s game has just reiterated the need to seriously sort out our full backs and central midfield. Sad to say but Dembele is quickly becoming a spent force... commanding and unplayable at times but those days are becoming few and far between.

Another example today of why the Zaha links won't go away, you may not rate Zaha but we need someone with that skill set. The ability to beat a man and force double teams thus creating space for others.

Dembele is good when opposition doesn't do extra ground work on him. But when they do, he is average

Even at his best he’s still frustrating at times... wins the ball, brushes off the opposition, powers forward and then plays a negative pass. The need to have someone who can dictate the tempo and play progressive football is becoming more and more imperative. Kane, Eriksen, All, Son become redundant when there’s no one to give them the ball.

What we need more than anything else is someone with experience of winning the big trophies, someone who's a natural leader. We need someone who will, when we're losing, take charge and rally the team. No one in this team can do that.

CM was without question our biggest problem today. No change of pace and a complete lack of ideas. It has to be our number one priority in the summer.
