Wd should try to make our "statements" soon or we'll become something like arsenal, who are going downhill and big signings wont necessarily help anymore..

Agree that we need to upgrade both fullbacks playing today.
Very good point re Dembele, great in possession but i can't remember the last assist or goal he was involved in so i think CM needs looking at. Kane backup also needed to state the obvious.
I think thats a lot to work on in one window but at the top level we keep getting found out so lets hope we back the manager.
I’m torn between is it the manager or the quality of players or a bit of both. I just don’t know who else could’ve got much more out of these players... but then I do think if we’d has Mouriniho for the last 4 years would we have won something?

Been saying all season our full back are not good enough (Davies and trips).

Rose and aurier were meant to be first choice but have been disappointing. I'd sell both and bring in 2 more. Only need to look at City to see how important good fbs are

It was more his body language but basically said we cant keep talking about winning stuff and keep throwing it away, we are not learning and we keep throwing things away and we need to stop
I wouldn't read too much in to that. He's 100% right.

I'd happily accept no new signings if it meant we could simply buy a winning mentality. The technical and physical qualities are there. The mental side isn't

Am starting to think it's a bit both. I think you only have to look at United's squad (which I don't think is as talented as ours) and the way they play (which is pretty damn shit, but somehow effective), compare it with ours and think how have they won potentially 3 trophies in the last 2 seasons with us winning nothing.

I guess another way to look at it is regardless of how talented this group of players are, do they as a collective lack the ability to attain that trophy winning mentality? It is a young squad. Do they need better man management or more experienced heads playing alongside them? I know I'm posing the same questions that you've basically asked but it's just hard to say I guess.

Who the fuck would be stupid enough to buy Rose?! He's not been fit for the past 15 months, has looked terrible when he's got on the pitch this season, and is arrogant enough to think despite that he deserves a pay rise and a bigger club. Absolute liability.

So that was gutting yet again, 8th semi final FA Cup loss in a row is not good enough.

On one hand there is the arguement that we’re punching hugely above our weight with the resources we have and clearly Poch has done an incredible job but there are a few things we can improve on:

-Set pieces! Man.U looked dangerous from all of theirs but we never ever threaten from a corner and rarely from free kicks. We win so many corners we need to use them better

-Style of play: we are quite predictable and man.u set up perfectly to stop us playing in between the lines. We throught Moura would help with this with his pace and directness but he’s not quite up to speed yet. But we need to mix our play up a bit which leads me into the next point...

-We NEED at least one more back-up striker of real quality. Llorente doesn’t fit our style and is past it. Instead of just always sending on different or more creative n.o 10 types how about putting on another striker for their defence to worry about?

-players who can score goals and change games. This isn’t knee jerk but I really just don’t think the following players quite do enough consistently:
Son (has been much better this season but still lacks a little consistency)
Alli (Yes he scored and tends to do so in big games but does he threaten teams enough during the games, so often he is just passing sideways or falling over, if I was a defender playing against Alli I’d be thinking just face him up and watch his runs behind, as opposed to a Sane, Sterling, Sanchez type with their pace and trickery it’s much harder to defend against)
Lamela (Tries really hard and has fairly good creativity but he barely scores any goals, is a poor finisher and often flatters to deceive)

Don’t get me wrong they’re decent players and Alli and Son starting is generally fine but if we want to be super critical and get to the next level then we need another top top level AM player like when we had Bale or someone like Pulisic and we also need a bloody decent back up striker option to Kane

-CM (Dembele and Dier as a 2 is too defensive!) for all his great work, when did Dembele last score or set up a goal? I know that’s not generally his role but usually one of the 2CM’s in a 4-2-3–1 can offer a bit going forward.

-Full backs aren’t good enough and don’t have enough pace for the way we play. Trippier has improved this year but he’s no Walker and Aurier is more what we need but has been a little disappointing, Davies is ok, solid defensively but not quite enough going forwards.

We’ve come on leaps and bounds and playing in our normal home stadium next year should hopefully give the players and club a lift but we have some work to do in the transfer market in the summer if we want to keep competing and to go closer to winning things, Man.U are 2nd this year and we are 4th and today that showed, we weren’t quite good enough + Jose teams manage big games so well, they just killed the game at 2-1.

Chin up and onwards and upwards but that was another tough one.

Thoughts on these improvements or were we just ‘unlucky’, I don’t think so, that’s 3 big games now vs Juve, Man.C and Man.U which we’ve lost and I don’t think it’s luck I think we have another level or 2 we need to go up.
From memory in recent times when Wigan can win a cup I can see no argument as to why we can't except only for predictable tactics and poor see belief.

Stop going on about resources.

We will be on a par with Liverpool and Arsenal this year.

We have the most expensive STs in football..

We can Stop with that excuse now.

There is only 1 way we invest the right way in the Summer and turn this team from nearly men to winners and that is with investment.

We need a serious cash injection and I don't care if we are brought by some rich oil tycoon (like city or Chelsea) if it means I see quality players coming to my club and wanting to stay and being able to pay them what they deserve but more importantly win stuff I will take that.

It hurts so much seeing walker celebrating as he is at present, and if I feel like that - what do you think Kane/Alli/Eriksen are thinking? just hope we announce some positive contract news or something this week just to lift the gloom before Watford

THIS IS MY WISH! NO HINTS!!!
We need established Shaw-like LB, as Davies is a good back up, but not effective enough for games like today. Our game was based on quick wing backs, until this season.

We need the experience of Modric & Bale. If it costs 90m for the pair, it is worth it what they will bring to our club. Seems I selfishly hoping FFC don’t get autos, and fail in play-of, sowe can nab Sess, though I have given my observations.

Toby goes we bring in kid from Ajax.

WHAT WE KNOW
Toby likely to go=40m
Dembele to China?=20m
Llorente =5m
VJ= likely loan with option
CCV=5m

I am fairly confident we will bring in at the very minimum 70m plus on player sales.

Along with CL monies (which is to cover wages etc) I believe 200m spend is notcatvzll a pipe dream!

WHAT I KNOW
We always planned to spend 2018/19 season, as we move into the stadium. I personally believe we should go ALL OUT for especially Bale, if not Modric. And we ALL know we are his preferred.

POCH
He will have to make the right choices with the list of players we can get.

NOTE
Those who concern themselves with Bales fitness etc, he is approaching 29. Look how he carries Wales. Sanchez is 29, and look at him today.

*No optimistic ratings please, as from what I believe I know, we have over 100m set aside, with player sales funds to be added to it. The CL monies will cover wages etc*

I agree with you on Modric and Bale - we need these players for positivity and getting us over the line (in big games).

Next year we might be on a part with them financially. But that doesn't improve the team we have on the pitch now. Right now we have far less money to spend than either of those sides. If we could've just offered Walker £350k a week when he wanted out like Woolwich did with Ozil, he would've stayed. If we could've just bought Salah rather than Llorente, we'd probably have won the league. But right now we don't have those resources, simple as that, and it means we have to try and punch above our weight to compete with these sides.

What we need more than anything else is someone with experience of winning the big trophies, someone who's a natural leader. We need someone who will, when we're losing, take charge and rally the team. No one in this team can do that.

I’ve been saying that for the last 3 summer’s but we don’t seem to go for that type of player.

We desperately need two new full backs and a top quality centre midfielder. I think we have a decent squad apart from that.

Accounts are historic statements

The cash is rolling in NOW - the 80k at Wembley last Saturday paid for their tickets now not in the period to June 17.

We can’t compete with City as they are state funded but we can with Liverpool and Arsenal. Walker is not worth £150k in any universe and neither is Ozil for that matter.
