Remember when we brought Davids into the side? Helped us go to another level. I have long thought we should keep trying to bring through youth instead of signing finished products. I’ve changed my mind and I think we need a couple of proven winners to give us the edge. A CM because Dembele might have had his best days, and a forward who can play anywhere up front. Time for Bale.

Still don’t think bale is the answer for us. I think he’ll just bring more problems,

Diawara(Ndombele), Malcom, Sessegnon with Toby staying would be perfect for me.

I have to disagree. We need proven winners. Not more maybe they will be great, young guys. Bale has won at the highest level, is a massive statement of intent and is one of the worlds best, when on form.

Going forward we are fine. I have faith in Harry Kane Alli Eriksen Son scoring enough goals.

Sanchez will be much better next season. The area we must improve on no question or debate is at wingback..even if it means blowing 100 million it is a vital area for how Pochettinho what's us to play. CM is another area to improve and hopefully Onomah is given a go.

Moura looks a player imo and will add creativity and intelligence going forward.

Let go.
Trippier Sissoko Alderweireld (would love to stay really) Llorente Rose N'koudou

Dembele??? another season to shadow Onomah

The truth is that we had a better first eleven last season with Rose and Toby fit and Walker still here. Despite that we've actually did better in CL whilst facing real elite teams this season
My point is that Pochettino really improved his coaching this season and got more out of a lesser squad.

However it's glaringly obvious that we need better fullbacks and central midfielders. We don't need players with potential, we need the finished article who will make a difference straight away. That's where we are as a team and I hope Levy realized this.

THIS IS MY WISH! NO HINTS!!!
We need established Shaw-like LB, as Davies is a good back up, but not effective enough for games like today. Our game was based on quick wing backs, until this season.

We need the experience of Modric & Bale. If it costs 90m for the pair, it is worth it what they will bring to our club. Seems I selfishly hoping FFC don’t get autos, and fail in play-of, sowe can nab Sess, though I have given my observations.

Toby goes we bring in kid from Ajax.

WHAT WE KNOW
Toby likely to go=40m
Dembele to China?=20m
Llorente =5m
VJ= likely loan with option
CCV=5m

I am fairly confident we will bring in at the very minimum 70m plus on player sales.

Along with CL monies (which is to cover wages etc) I believe 200m spend is notcatvzll a pipe dream!

WHAT I KNOW
We always planned to spend 2018/19 season, as we move into the stadium. I personally believe we should go ALL OUT for especially Bale, if not Modric. And we ALL know we are his preferred.

POCH
He will have to make the right choices with the list of players we can get.

NOTE
Those who concern themselves with Bales fitness etc, he is approaching 29. Look how he carries Wales. Sanchez is 29, and look at him today.

*No optimistic ratings please, as from what I believe I know, we have over 100m set aside, with player sales funds to be added to it. The CL monies will cover wages etc*

"Net spend" More than 100 million?

The saying that "The best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour" is pretty relevant here.

Daniel Levy and the board have never sanctioned any form of net spend ever. It would be so out of character for them to start now.

Modric, Bale? Two world class players whose wage demands will be astronomical. We can`t afford Walker or Tobys wages, but we somehow can afford the demands of those two?

To say I`m skeptical is an understatement.

Spot on. We are playing catch up. It’s depressing.

Personally I don't really find it depressing. Maybe it's because of my age? I was little in the era of us being totally shit, when I was basically the only Tottenham fan in school, we were a joke mid-table club and frankly I didn't have any reason to expect it to ever improve. We're already a long way past that and clearly on the right trajectory and doing all the right things to make sure that improvement lasts. Not winning anything bar the LC yet is annoying, but lady luck has had as much to do with that than any failings as a club and I'm confident we'll get there - I don't personally buy any talk of a "curse" or "bad mentality" or whatever.

I thought the new stadium would give us the money to spend once it was up and regularly full? Seems odd that we will finally have the fabled War Chest (TM) before then?

It would be great to get an Edgar Davids type of signing in. Someone that is really battle-hardened and with the experience of winning big things. A real leader. Chiellini, that kind or player. Unfortunately getting a player like that towards the end of their career doesnt really tally with our transfer strategy.

We need an experienced winner out on the pitch to help lead the rest of them. Our entire squad has won close to fuck all when looking at their collective winners medals. One or two proven winners may make a massive amount of difference.

Perhaps it's time to buy a few finished articles, who have played at the top, rather than young guys with potential?
Trouble is winners cost money we avoid that by buying potential.

Not quite correct. We spent what was big money for the time in January one season to get players in who could secure our place in the Premier League.

We need upgrades that's for sure but what this club really needs is mentality. Poch has changed it so much, he's made us stronger and a team who don't give in as easily but we are still shy of characters who can drag us over the line.

When United equalised yesterday I knew the game was up. I wonder if the players felt the same? Did that belief sap from them immediately? We needed someone out there to shake them and say "C'mon guys, we are better than them, this is our game, keep your heads". A bit of nous at certain points in the game will go a long way to. In-game management.

For example, we often get ourselves in a great position - 1-0 up yesterday, 2-0 up at Chelsea two years ago and 3-2 up on aggregate against Juventus - and throw it away due to a silly mistake or a loss of possession in a vulnerable situation. These are situations in which we need a leader to demand no risks are taken - like Dembele yesterday - if you can't play it out, just guide it down the line, United needed to force something, not us. In the mean time we can reorganise.

So, whilst we can sit here and say we need a creative midfielder and a central midfielder, it's imperative that these players have experience or are intelligent enough to not leave us in vulnerable situations.

Also, I think Poch needs to start to consider altering things once we get our noses in front. I'm not particularly happy to sit on leads because it can be dangerous but we have the tools as a counter-attacking team to hurt opposition and it's exactly the kind of thing that gets Mourinho results in these big games. We need to learn how to kill games, and I don't mean by scoring more, I mean simply take the energy and momentum out of the opposition. Waste time, make niggly fouls 50 yards from our own goal, kick the ball away, basically do whatever it takes to make it harder for the opposition.

Why buy players whose legs have gone.. We have history of this with Poyet, Sheringham, Keane (2nd time) etc and it got us nowhere and Davids was finished when he got here and basically contributed fuck all.

Don't understand this assumption that Rose is off. I'd be very surprised if he isn't here next season. Only two clubs in league could afford him/would want him. City won't want him as Mendy is a new signing and they just won the league without him.

That only leaves Utd, I am seriously struggling to see Utd spending Walker money on Rose. He's been injured pretty much all season, when he has played he's looked unfit and out of form. He's not a superstar that Utd would not care about this. They'll look elsewhere at the price we'd want, next season is huge for Mourinho and Rose is too big a risk.

Hopefully, as personally a fit and in form Rose is head and shoulders above Davies and takes us up a level.

Was one of the worlds best. Hasn’t been at that level for a few years.

That was Redknapp's first season right? Defoe, Palacios, etc?

Levy needs to realise that the risk works in both situations. If he showed as much urgency in transfers when we are doing well then it could be the difference in winning stuff, just like it was the difference in transforming a relegation threatened team into a CL team within one season.
