Until we get to a position where we don't have one (or several ) first team players who want to leave every summer we will be leaving ourselves short at the end of the window.

What we really need is no one leaving, plus long awaited quality alternatives to Eriksen and Kane and a proper midfield playmaker.

Instead, we still need those, but now due to Walker leaving and the Rose situation we've gone from having the best wingbacks in the league to those positions being a concern. Plus we will now probably need to replace Toby.

Suddenly that's a lot of work.

Brilliant CB but the the thought of a player that slow in our high line is the stuff of nightmares.

A couple of other bits.....

Bale is a no go, and we have an interest in Ndombele but there is concern about his in game choices. I'm told the concern is that he takes an awful lot of risks in bad areas, Something that won't show up on a highlights reel.

Sounds like we are already floundering in the transfer market. I question the wisdom of charging the highest season ticket prices in the country if we won't compete.

We already know who's leaving though so replacements would be getting sounded out.

I would disagree with the floundering part. As for charging of the tickets etc - everyone has a choice and I have no idea if you will be one of those buying a season ticket/have bought a season ticket, there is a pretty simple answer if you don't like the correlation between the two though.

True, but can you really see us getting in quality replacements for Rose, Toby and Dembele, plus Kane and Eriksen alternatives all in one window?

This will be the most important transfer window in Poch era. If we won't have succesfull season players will go, fans will not want to pay highest ticket prices in the league. And when I see that we (supposedly) want Evans, Jay Rodriguez, Bertrand etc. I'm scared.

Poch will also have to decide about the future of players like Edwards (19 years old), Onomah (20 yo), CCV (20 yo), KWP (21 yo) cause it's now or never imho. Maybe Edwards has another year but he's case is more complicated probably. But what to do with Onomah? We know we need CM so buy one or give him a chance? Very difficult window for Poch.

No but I don't think we need that many personally, 3 max plus I don' think Dembele will leave anyway.

Im almost positive I read somewhere that he was close to signing for City? Might be wrong though...

It's absurd. How they can buy multiple players in one window for €60m+ and pay them twice what we do. In positions they aren't even in dire need of improving.

I know, I'm stating the obvious. Sigh.

Huge summer coming up (but we've heard that every year for the last few years)

We are probably going to have to spend £100m+ this summer if we really want to challenge for the title or champions league next season. It is great being able to flaunt signings like Dele, or Eriksen, or academy products like Kane. But our squad is now at a level where, 9 times out of 10, improvement comes from buying players that will come in and, at the very least, challenge the players in the starting line up.

I think we will see Alderweireld, Dembele, N'Koudo and Janssen all moved on. I've also got a feeling about Dier potentially looking to move, and perhaps Lamela back to Italy. We need to be looking at players like Gelson Martins and Sergej Milinković-Savić. Quality players that would come in and fight for a starting place. They're going to cost a lot of money, but that's where we are now. I don't want Jay Rodriguez as our big summer signing. I wouldn't be opposed to Zaha, although I don't think he's coming here given recent history. If, like I think, Dier might lobby for a move, with Mourinho's interest, I'd be looking at a deal for Martial with cash going their way. He would be great in our side.

I think it is going to be an interesting summer.

Which is why getting Modric would be so important for us I feel

We don't seem to have clear attainable targets...at least that's what is implied...of course I'm possibly misreading.

Your relentless negativity does you credit. How you have come to the conclusions you have on the posts you quoted is completely beyond me.
