Well we all know we will be waiting for a back-up striker, late into the window, But, what else is on your wish list - either specific player, or position?

Never to early to think about a new Back-up Keeper, but it would not hurt my feelings to keep Vorm (like strikers, good back-ups are hard to find)

For me, it depends on how close CCV is - but if he is not ready, we need a back up for Alderweireld and/or a DM back-up for Dier. Obviously, try to sell Fazio.

FBs - I like the 4 we have. Its probably time to sell Yedlin - really can't see him coming in ahead of Walker/Trippier.

With CM - we don't have room for Carroll, Mason and Bentaleb - I think one of those have to be sold - for their sake, more than ours. My preference would be Bentaleb, only because I think he would fetch the highest price. But with Dier/Dembele we really only have room for two others - though I might be tempted to bring in a pure DM back-up for Dier, and keep Carroll and Mason to back-up Dembele.

With the attacking mids - I don't see any need to buy or sell. Eriksen, Son, Lamela, Chadli, Clinton - add in Pritchard and Onomah and I don't know who we can bring in as an upgrade, that we could afford - even with CL money.

If we do get CL, I think we will have an easier time finding a Striker to come in and sit behind Kane - we'll have a bit more money for wages, and the lure of CL to find a quality striker.

    From a HG standpoint:

    Club Trained
    Kane
    Rose
    Mason
    Carroll
    Pritchard
    Bentaleb - I'd sell now

    Nation Trained
    Walker
Alli - I think he still has to be registered for Continental competitions next year even though he is under 21
    Davies
    Trippier

We are allowed 17 non-HG players:
    Son
    Chadli
    Eriksen
    Lamela
    Clinton
    Dier
    Dembele
    Vertonghen
    Alderweireld
    Wimmer
    Lloris
    Vorm

So, we have room to add non-HG players

Difficult to answer this until we know if we've got CL or not.

    Edit- You'd sell Bentaleb?!?!??!??!??!??!??!?

Not happily - but we have a log-jam with Carroll, Mason and Bentaleb. Seems like someone needs to go, or they all three might end up unhappy with playing time. Carroll has really grown on me in the deep-lying playmaker role - he needs to be paired with a strong DM, but I really like his decision-making and passing from deep.

I figure Bentaleb brings the biggest price - if there were a big target that we wanted - thats where were are going to free up money.

    Pretty happy with the squad.

hope we can keep all the key players, esp. Lloris, Toby, Jan, Kane and Eriksen.
There will be plenty of stories with interest in our players.

sell Faz and Yedlin, loan Onomah and Winks.

if we get Champions League i want to have a quality RW with pace who can make the difference and maybe can play striker as well. Lacazette would be great but surely difficult. Maybe Mahrez. If no quality upgrade is available remain with what we have.

then add cover at cb and cf. Job done.

    GK - Lloris, Vorm & McGee (U21)
DR - Walker (HG), Trippier (HG)
DL - Rose (HG*) & Davies (HG)
    CB - Toby, Verts, Wimmer
CM - Dier, Alli (U21), Mason (HG*), Bentaleb (HG*) & Carroll (HG*)
AM - Eriksen, Lamela, Dembele, Son, Chadli, Njie, Pritchard (HG*), Onomah (U21)
SC - Kane (HG*) & Embolo (U21) or Lacazette

    Sell - Fazio & Yedlin.

Dier to drop back as a CB option and Winks to come in as a CM option if needed.

We look very AM heavy, but I din't know who you would lose from those options, as Njie, Son, Prichard & Onomah haven't been given much chance or enough time to adapt and show what they can do, Erkisen is our most creative and arguably most important AM, Lamela's is an asset due to his hard work in the press and and always looking to make things happen, Dembele has become one of our best players and Chadli, though doesn't work or press hard enough, scores goals. If we had to get rid of one, I would reluctantly say Chadli as I think Alli is replacing his goals whilst adding the hard work in the press.

We also have Carter-Vickers (CB), Walker-Peters (DR), Ogilvie (DL), Winks (CM) and Oduwa (AM) from our academy who need to be assessed to see where they are at.

HG* = Club Trained Home Grown Player

Only need a striker, good thing about this team is that the majority are nowhere near hitting their peak which is why we don't need to upgrade that much.

Don't think it matters a whole lot, but I think Alli and Embolo, if he came in, would have to be registered in CL or Europa - I think U21 players must be registered if they have not been at the club for 2 years.

For the summer I agree keeping key players is the priority.

In terms of incoming obviously a striker as a must and beyond that anything Poch thinks improves us.

Outgoings of Yedlin and Fazio plus a player per incoming after the new striker.

Just loans for the youngsters then.

We will really be starting from a strong position this summer for once, even more so if we are in CL.

I'd look to round out the squad with a striker and a DM, the former obviously being the bigger need.

I'm guessing we'll be targeting young, versatile strikers, hopefully with the potential to reach the very top bracket. This is really the only absolutely necessary acquisition to the squad and numerous ITKs have indicated that we are willing to spend, so hopefully that will be the case. One of Lacazette, Batshuyahi or Embolo would do nicely.

I'd also be surprised if we weren't back in for Wanyama in the summer. Poch clearly rates him and he'll only have a year left on his contract. I know many believe that they won't sell to us but what choice will they really have if he is determined to join back up with Poch?

    I'd sell Fazio and Yedlin.

    Additions:
Striker: Alexandre Lacazette, Yoshinori Muto, Antonio Sanabria, Saido Berahino, Michy Batshuayi would all be guys I'd look at.

Defensive Midfielder: I think we really need to find an out-and-out defensive midfielder to backup Dier.

Winger: A winger with pace would be lovely. Not sure how we would accommodate it within the squad, though. As others have said, we are so bloated (and not in a bad way) in the AM3. Hopefully whatever striker we add could offer this and reasonable cover for Kane.

Not a lot of work to do, really.

You are right, I was thinking more from a PL point of view. We would still only have 14 non HG players for Europe though.

Bentaleb is the youngest and has the most potential, it would be crazy to sell him. Selling him just because he'd 'bring the biggest price' is the exact sort of thing I thought was in our past.

    Is Alli a CM?
    Is Dembele an AM?

I think an AM has to go and imo possibly N'Jie on loan as he has only had 1 full season of football under his belt despite being 23 next season

It's a wish list and IMO Alli would be better in CM and Dembele better in AM.

I think that we have a culture developing that’s about two options, nothing more. Either we build from the bottom up, with star youngsters brought in like Dembele II, Maddison or similar others (perhaps even Berahino) who will join the fantastic conveyor belt we now have and broaden our youthful base and squad/team ethic further. Or we buy one or two proven, serious CL-level stars who nobody would dispute can ‘take us to the next level’. I’m talking £20m-plus value players, so long as they have the right mentality to fit in with what we already have, and with Poch’s philosophy above all. What I don’t think we’ll be buying any more is those in the middle; goodish players but who expect a first team spot without bringing something we don’t have already.

However, CL football brings with it challenges that we aren’t yet equipped to deal with alongside making an even stronger PL challenge next season. We’ve also been pretty fortunate so far this season with injuries (kudos to our fitness and medics team). We don’t have strength in depth in certain areas. So I think our money will be spent on a second target-man type striker, another top class central defender or DM (Dier II), and perhaps a creative talent (ideally a dribbler who can also make defence splitting passes). But ultimately Poch and his assistants will have a sense of where each of our current players – including our youth – will be next year, so we focus on anticipating tomorrow’s problems, not just solving today’s. It’s quite clear that the mentality in the group is excellent and not something Poch will want to damage by moving people in or out without very good reason. Fans get excited by new signings but our days of reshuffling the pack each summer are, thankfully, behind us for the foreseeable future.

Personally Im off the opposite opinion and its imo one of the reason alli has played so well. He has less pressure on passing and has more time to get in to areas where he causes trouble. He imo doesn't suit playing with 2 banks of 4 in front of him and is better, causing trouble in those two banks of four

You raise a very good point, but either way my squad stays the same. If we have Alli as a AM, it raises the question on whether there is a need to keep Chadli IMO, which I hate to say as I like the guy.

If we make CL group stages these two would be standout picks...
Sofiane Boufal - pace, trickey, change of direction. Our Hazard or Mahrez.
Breel Embolo - Strength and pace, adaptable.

    Sell:
Yedlin - Isn't setting the stadium of light...alight (HA) at Sunderland, I don't see him doing at job at Spurs especially with two (relatively) young English RBs that are doing well atm. He's played one less competitive minute for us than his squad number, and I doing see him getting in to the team.

Fazio - Go and watch any game he's played in a spurs shirt. His red card v City, and league cup V Arse-n-all are personal faves of mine.

    Buy:
CB/CDM - Depending on Dier's position. If he stays in midfield, I think we'd need another young CB as cover. Having said that, there could be one in the team already in CCV depending on if Poch feels he's ready or not. If Dier drops back (which personally I hope he doesn't) then I think we'd need to find someone else to do his role of protecting the back four.

ST - A STRIKER. Please Dman Leevz bring us someone. I bet Robbie Keane would still do a job for us, the MLS is barley any different in quality to the prem :p. In all seriousness, I hope Poch and Mitchell can identify a target that's intrested in us at a club willing to sell.

In all, I don't think we need to much over summer and anything we do need is just cover and I'd be happy.
