Feels like the whole tone and approach needs updating, the reverence to the papers as if they’re tomes of scripture is farcical in this day and age

That's exactly it, and the reason I stopped watching it. They act as if they know all, see all, understand everything in a way the viewer couldn't possibly because they are in the game. The show is one big circle jerk, supporting each other's bullshit transfer rumour stories and agent PR spin. Not enough do actual work because if they did, they would lose their access.

It's so exciting to think that yesterday when both fully fit, both Wanyama and Alderwiereld would start and we are sure to sign a few big signings this summer which have been alluded to. Along with the new stadium, I cannot wait to see what the future holds!

The reality is they can look for as many holes as they like, you'll find some at every Club, it doesn't detract from the fact that we're progressing massively under Pochettino.

Alderweireld is a great player but if we lost him we arn't suddenly going to fade away, same if Dele left or whoever.

What they're failing to recognise is Pochettino is changing the Club and our identity which is of far greater significance than any individual player, even our own Harry Kane.

Pochettino is simply fantastic when it comes to improving players and creating a certain ethos and mentality.

We're getting a new stadium that will allow us to committ more to wages in a sustainable way, and under Poch we will win silverware, it's a question of when not if.

It's not an agenda but it's a stubbornness amongst a lot of pundits/media to recognise the bigger picture concerning our upward direction as a Club so they choose to focus on any vulnerable area that will hinder that direction.

As I keep saying, regarding the top 6, we're punching above our weight massively and outfooballing a lot of rivals, in style I might add not Mourinho- esque, with a young core of English players.

I guess I can see why they're stubborn about accepting our rise to prominence.

Yeah I stopped watching this, can't stand most of the people on there. There's also just a tone to the show and the people on there that I really hate. It's hard to describe, but even the woman they had on there today was exactly the same, with that kind of bland, dry, know it all, pompous persona.

I think I only came across this recently - has it been running long? It seems like an absolute throwback - the BBC is meant to do quality stuff, but I think this is worse than anything on Sky...

There's a whole landscape of podcasts, youtube channels etc, that actually do football really well (at least some of them....) and it just seems strange that TV (with very few exceptions) can't pick up any of the quality that's out there, when they must have a lot more of a budget (although, I suspect that Sunday Supplement gets knocked out fairly cheaply).

Then I'm getting confused.... maybe I'm thinking of Match of the Day 3 - or I ended up watching Sky... whatever I saw was people talking about the crap in the papers.

It could have been sooooooooo much better.

I used to love Sunday Supplement. Every episode used to basically end up with Jimmy Hill lamenting the lack of the good old fashioned English number 9 whilst the others groaned and rolled their eyes. Great telly.

Come to think of it, Jimmy would have loved Kane.

When it first started many moons ago it was much better, I think Jimmy Hill was the first host, then Brian Woolnough, it was good.

Since the Neil Ashton era it's just been largely shit.

Ashton was on NBC for Man Utd vs Liverpool and managed to turn covering that game into a platform to predict Spurs would sell Rose, Kane and Alderweireld.

Jeremy Cross...knob status achieved.

Along the lines of..."Pochettino gets away with failing, If that was UTD losing to Juve or if they get knocked out by Sevilla, Mourinho would get slaughtered by the press."

Totally ignoring the fact that Morinho should be slaughtered considering the wedge they have spent on players.

Totally ignoring the thought that we are now in fact competing with alot of 'big' clubs in Europe on a limited budget.

Nice one...Chief sports reporter. Tw*t.

The show still had to close with the...Kane will look at Walker and think...I might move to win trophies, and we (Spurs) have to win a trophy.

Add to that the crap football Utd play. Spurs in my opinion are still punching above our weight really. I'm so happy we are doing well and progressing as a club but if we compare wages and transfer fees we are doing really well and in all honesty Mourinho should be slammed for only being a few points above us but having spent hundreds of millions more.

the real comparison should be with City. And they are far, far behind.

Doesn’t he work for the Star?

A hamster could get employed in his position.

Interesting tho that Sam Wallace’s bit on West Ham reminded me of the Spurs protests at Sugar. His family were abused, they were hounded for three years - nothing like yesterday but there were pitch protests and someone leaked his phone number etc. I remembered all that, so I’ve not been too quick to condemn yesterday (altho laughing inside, obviously)

Went searching for some info on it all and found this terrifying sliding doors story where David Sullivan was going to buy Spurs off Sugar. Can you imagine?

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/o...Sugar-ready-to-sell-as-Spurs-debts-climb.html

When anyone gets angry at Levy, worth a read
