I know it's a pile of shit but this show really does annoy me. Talking about us again this morning- Chelsea " a far better team than Tottenham." Also where has this narrative come from that we blew it last season? We were always way behind Leicester all season - the narrative now seems to be that we blew it and threw it away. Heard savage at the same thing last night on the radio. It's just bizarre
Robbie Savage regularly takes a shit with his clothes on, don't listen to him

Savage is there to create an argument. Next week he'll say the opposite!

Sunday supplement? It's a joke of a show really. Sports journo's are something of a joke in their industry and here we have self styled football experts chatting as if they are the all knowing mighty authority on the sport. Their jobs are to report. Their opinions mean absolutely nothing as none of them have any credibility or standing within the game. The likes of Martin Samuel probably didn't even get in his school reserves side, the fucking fat nerd!

It can be an amusing show at times though. Hearing these journos talk about how Wenger should be managing Arsenal etc...yeah that's why Wenger earns more in a week than the journos do in a year.

Football journalism seems to be the job that careers advisors at school suggest if they think pot washing might be a little too mentally taxing for the student

Until we actually achieve something I'm afraid that's our fate.

In one way it's not so bad, because it keeps the heat off us & hopefully Poch can use it as a motivational tool.

Think Sunday supplement compares so badly to things like the Guardian's football weekly podcast - which is excellent.

Both involve journalists talking about football. The Guardian one is insightful, humorous and the journos are modest and self deprecating . They also cover any interesting issues from any division or league. Contrast with Sunday supplement with its puffed up, self-important arseheads they have on - we've got all the proper football men on speed dial don't you know. Spending endless hours boring on about the top 4 and star managers. A ducking stool at the local sewage works would be too good for them.

Simple answer is chasing ratings. Sunday Supplement feeds the 'sky four' fans (mainly Utd & Liverpool though).

You just need to look at the other journo reactions when one of them criticise Liverpool... always followed by knowing looks and a laugh followed by "you'll get abuse on twitter now"

Everything on SS is driven by the narrative. It's just a shame our narrative of 'Young, English, low budget, low wages' is always represented as 'inexperienced, no stars or big name players, small club who are a stepping stone' we're doing all the right things to change our narrative but the journos will always fall back on the easy headline of 'spursy'

Exactly this. Some people equate this to being a conspiracy against us, it isn't. It's just the papers, sky etc playing up to the biggest crowds in order to attract them.

It's why we get so many players linked to us in the transfer windows. We are a fairly big club too. ;)

I would hazard a guess that even if we won the league, even if we upped our wage budget, and even if we signed a 'superstar' player, the narrative would be 'kane to Utd/whoever' , 'one season wonder', 'Poch to Real' and on and on and on.

Fuck the lot of them. We are Tottenham, from the Lane.

Not sure what the melodrama is about. Granted I don't think Chelsea are so much better than us and that pissed me off slightly but Chelscum are better than us... The table doesn't lie. Also we need to win things for us to be considered up there with the Chelscums of this world unfortunately.

I really like the show and they have continuously praised us and been complimentary but there is only so much praise that can be given to a team who so far have won Jack shit.

I think the FA Cup is a must I also think, whilst we have a very low chance of winning the league, we have got to do our utmost for example not dropping points against Swansea away this week.

As bad as Sunday Supplement is, whatever that similar show is on BT/ESPN is somehow just that little bit worse

It shouldn't be. I would hope Toby and Jan don't even know who bozos like Martin Samuel are

Any neutral with half a brain and not totally biased should be able to see pound for pound what Spurs are doing on the budget and wage structure we have is vastly superior to Chelsea. Chelsea are probably a better team but for what we have spent on our squad we should be nowhere near them.

Most of the journos you see on sunday supplement though are dinosaurs with no original thought or the work ethic to do any outside the box research you you get the same well worn mega money club bias driven that provides no insight at all to any fan that follows football more generally

There does seem to be a mindset set problem among some journalists.

Just like Poch had to come in change the whole mentality of the club, and it has and is still changing much for the better, some journalists are still stuck in 2005, still believing that if Man U want Harry Kane (for example) then they will get Harry Kane, because after all they got Carrick and Berbatov.

I don't believe its down to any animus - I just think a lot of journalists are really really thick and not capable of coherent thought

I actually think apart from Hazard we are better than Chelsea all over the pitch. Wanyama for Kante I guess but Vic had him for breakfast at the Lane. Hazard is the outlier because he brings something we clearly don't have. Our wing backs are better, centre backs are better, Dembele better than Matic, they don't have a runner from deep like Dele etc.

It's a shame as we've basically been skanked by the fact they're not in Europe and have had zero injuries.

In search of some football discussion last night I listened to 5 minutes of The Press Pass on Talksport. They were discussing video technology and one of them (don't know who but it wasn't Ashton or Samuels or John Cross) said they're opposed to any video technology because (and these are almost his exact words) his job is all about writing opinions and debating controversies and he'd basically have nothing to write about if we take dodgy decisions out of the game.

This is further evidence that most hacks are not interested in anything resembling journalism anymore and are essentially bloggers who - unlike many of their younger counterparts online who blog on the tactical development of the game and relish discussions on the merits of a particular player/coach - are completely disinterested in tactics or insight and instead just want to join the masses who scream for a penalty and question the referees' eyesight.

The quality of football journalism in this country is appalling largely because the profession is dominated by people who the game itself have left behind. In light of the above it is no surprise that so many often hark back to outdated, or even inaccurate, clichés about Spurs being a selling club and foreign coaches not knowing the league - such bullsh*t is all they have to offer.

Going in to the match with West Ham the title was in our hands. We'd have gone top had we won that night but we lost.
There is weight to the argument we blew our best shot at a title.

This is the problem though - they are paid (handsomely I imagine) to eat, sleep and breathe football. They should know what's going on and be on top of things. Many of us would kill for their jobs - they need to be put some effort in!

I see the only Tottenham talk again yesterday was how we wouldnt be able to pay Dele Alli his worth and that its imminent that our team will break up

Who cares? As long as fucking John Cross isn't in charge of our finances it makes no difference what he thinks.

It's a tabloid-style magazine show covering big, sensational stories. Giving a team credit for a good performance isn't their MO - Goals On Sunday is straight after if you want to see our club getting their collective arses licked - and however much you don't want to acknowledge it, the fact is that Dele Alli might - *might* - be growing into a player we'll struggle to keep hold of. Even if we win the league next season and start cementing ourselves as one of the top teams around, we're still not going to match up to the elite European sides any time soon - it's completely reasonable that the media will question whether we're capable of holding onto a player who could potentially be one of the best in the world.
