Oh lordy lordy, where to begin?

What is it with these no mark 'journalists' almost relentlessly having snide digs at spurs???
It seems no matter how well we play, or high up the league we are, they find an angle for criticism.

On this week's installment....

Somehow we are simultaneously underachieving and over achieving.
Sly remarks about Poch being the same age as Pep but not having won a trophy.
The inevitable we are a one man team and are useless without Kane.
Kane to Utd/Madrid/etc.
Basically not one complimentary or positive remark.

In a season if we were 8th and being 'spursy' (sorry) I could understand or at least tolerate it. But we're 2nd, FA cup semi finalists, and the only team that look half capable of pushing Chelsea were they to slip up.

Why? Why are we so disliked, or at best, sneered at?

I didn't see the spurs bit but the female journalist on there normally is quite positive on spurs.

The minute we start winning trophies it will turn. Up until the point we are always going to be the bridesmaid. Great young team, driven manager and new stadium; forget what a couple of useless hacks say. Their job is to create headlines.

Because we don't fit the Sky agenda, Spurs should be sixth and we should know our place.
Liverpool, Arsenal, United, City, Chelsea should be in the top four (I'm aware i mentioned five clubs)

Who was on it? With those kind of remarks Martin Samuel must have been on it. I'd be surprised if Henry Winter was on it saying those type of things.

I wouldn't take it personally. Its because they were shit at football so their only way into the profession is to talk bollocks about it.

What they don't take into account is that we have far less resources than the other big clubs.

Chelsea and City have, for all intents and purposes, almost limitless money.

Liverpool, United and Arsenal all have higher revenues from merchandise, attendance and sponsorship. (To my knowledge - happy to be corrected.)

All five have a much higher wage wage ceiling than us, meaning that they attract the best players.

So what?

I've seen shedloads of positive comments on that show. Not seen one thread praising them about it :D

I'm not sure why everything has to be positive all the time or where this idea comes from that if you say something that can be taken as negative, that you then have to balance it out with some positive comments.

Generally speaking, in the media, we aren't disliked or sneered at and there's no anti Spurs agenda, that's all rubbish. We get our fair share of the goodstuff.

They expect us to fall away again, then they can crow about their "expert insight." We're the "uppity pretender" with ideas above our station.
Not a one of them is a true journalist offering an unbiased viewpoint based on true research or analysis, they're lazy hacks who's sole interest is peddling sound bites that the majority of fans will lap up. They know that the likes of Utd, City, Liverpool and especially goon fans WANT to hear or read that we're just a blot on the landscape. They know that the other "lesser" teams want to hear this too as it makes their own mediocrity more palatable. The failure of others is a cause for celebration for the majority in this country, as it helps to cushion the blow of their own failures. So pandering to that helps to sell their columns.
Modern tabloid "journalism" consists of nothing more than appeasing the masses and the powers that be. Gone are the days when writing was a vehicle to make people think and question for themselves, now it is all about writing or saying what people WANT to hear, rather than what they NEED to hear. Football is just a frontline example of this due to its popularity.

That's pretty much why I haven't read a newspaper in close to 20 years, and why I never trust any "quote" unless I've seen it directly from the subject who made it.
I like to form my own opinion, not have it given to me.

So what these hacks have to say I pretty much ignore. The evidence is right before our eyes. Only those desperate to deny the truth in front of them would ever give these clowns any credence.

As would be the case if Liverpool Southampton was followed by City Spurs. It's only natural a match between two of the big sides gets a lot of coverage - this would also be the case if we were involved in said clash.

I'd rather they didn't mention us at all. It seems to be the case that when they do it's selling one of our players.

Our players do get praised in the same breath though so I guess that's something.

Fair point but I still think sky give to much coverage to certain teams

Funny how the supporters of every club seem to believe the media have it in for them. And referees are against them too. And the FA, and the cup draw, and the fixtures committee.

Why don't they realise that it's only us that there's a global conspiracy against?

I agree, but is anyone actually suggesting that?
