The problem is, it's just unsubstantiated. We can only speculate, but have no hard evidence. I'd rather not talk about them like that and say openly that they're drug cheats. Not out of respect, I really couldn't give a toss for them, but because if I say it out loud people are just going to laugh at me and call me jealous and bitter. I don't want to come across that way and give people the satisfaction.

You can barely say you don't want Leicester to win the league on here without some people throwing accusations of bitterness at you.

If I'm being completely honest I think being bitter about it is the only reason I can think of not wanting Leicester to win the league over any of the other teams in the top 6/7.

If we were nowhere near the title I'd be rooting for them but asnit stands they're in our way so being bitter is natural. I make no excuses for that and openly admit that I feel we deserve it more than them and that it's just plain shit luck that it's ending up how it is. I just think people clutching at straws and saying shit about them being cheats is just a step too far. There's being bitter, and then there's being a real sore loser.

As much as I believe the claims in the initial report, I just can't get my head around a situation where Leicester are doping. I really think there are some things that don't really make sense. Their story is a miracle either as a clean team in a clean league or otherwise. If they are doping:

1. How are they outdoping everyone else?
2. Why are they so ballsy to cheat so hard that they win the league?

If doping is endemic, then why are Leicester so much better at doping than everyone else? Also if it is endemic, surely the culture would frown upon such a blatant disregard for plausibility? If it's not endemic, but just common, then how have they not been caught? If targeted testing exists, then surely they would have been tested for everything ages ago. Similarly, why would they not settle for a CL place, and then cheat more in the future to win the league from a more plausible situation? I don't think it really adds up.

What if Leicester are barely cheating at all in the grand scheme of things, but are much, much better relatively because other top teams are suddenly cheating less? As part of some kind of "race to not dope," for some reason? There are lot of proposed explanations for the increase in the competitiveness in the league, but what if a decrease in doping is actually a factor?

My conclusion would be that either Leicester are just the lucky beneficiaries of circumstance, timing, and team spirit, or they haven't got the memo about the no-doping race and are being set up to be the eventual fall guys.

EL, you raise good points. But rather than answer them (as I can't), I want to propose a scenario to you.

I've been following your posts on this thread, and they are correct in that they suggest historical implication; however, there are historical characters that are still influencing the PL today - continuing your inquiry regarding the endemic nature of doping in our league.

Like you, I conclude (for now) that Leicester are lucky - in that they are either going undetected; or they are taking advantage, like us, of a drop in form from incumbent league leaders.

However, I feel that we will have be done a disservice as fans if the last decade and a half aren't investigated.
If our wealth and future/potential revenues are built on slime, I'd rather we start the scrub out now; as a footballing nation.

The interesting thing about this particular past piece and decade is Rob Brinded...is he back in England running his Rob Brinded - High Performance Energetics? If so, the timing is curious for Leicester, in particular Claudio Ranieri.

For fear of boring others, I won't go into detail; but the arrival of Claudio, Rob and Roman at roughly the same date is a lead.
Rob oversaw Ranieri's "improvement"; peaking end of 2004, following a sluggish start - similar to the revival we see with Leicester.

Although Ranieri departed after this strong spell with Chelsea, Roman and Rob remained (Rob until 2007). The latter two were there for Mourinho and the start of Chelsea FC as it is today.

Chelsea are now a continental power and their backroom is key to that, as it was with Italian teams when they ruled.

That Rob is back in town at the same time that Leicester are killing it is funny. Something to follow, and not just this particular story.

Rob and Mr. Bonar won't be the only partners out there, but with Russia being heavy on fixing and doping, the Chelsea scene looks really dirty. This, unfortunately, implicates Claudio and therefore the Foxes.

Just my take.

Quite a provocative revelation this PL link. I bet La Liga is bricking it.
