Diego Capel has admitted he is flattered with reports linking him with Tottenham, but he insists he is not thinking about leaving Sevilla.

New Spurs boss Juande Ramos has admitted that he will be looking at his former club for potential recruits and Capel is one of the most highly-rated of the squad he left behind.

Manchester United and Spurs' North London rivals Arsenal have previously tracked Capel, but now it is Tottenham who are looking at his situation.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who scored in Spain's 3-0 win over Poland Under 21s on Friday, admits he is pleased to be linked with a big club like Spurs.

Flattered

"I am proud to be seen on a list like that," Capel told Marca.

"But I can assure you that I am only thinking of Seville.

"Seville is the only thing that is in my head, I don't think about the money [he could earn]."

From Sky Sports, this kid is one of the first players i said we should go for when Juande took over. i know it is going to be near on impossible to sign any one from Sevilla but at the end of the day money talks. Has been talked about very positively for the last 3 years and is now a regular on the lw for Sevilla

Capel would be great. Remember when we seemed to be close to signing David Silva before he made an impact at Valencia? :-( Can't find a link, but we were linked with 2 of their players, one of which was Silva. Never came off, and not too long after that, he really starting making a name for himself there

You would think being 'Flattered' would be a reason for him to stay away. Nobody wants that!

I think £5m would be a good price for him as a squad player (can play him anywhere across the middle and forward).

Can't be considered a signing for the first 11 after he said, "I don't like the Premier League - you don't get enough time on the ball"

hate the transfer window...we get linked to every player...the club must hate when it opens...!!!:bang::bang:

No that's not true, the main reason for the good ecconomy is because of Levy calling the press office and have them throw out rumors to the media and make them pay for the tip.

I find it difficult to see any comparison between YaYa Toure and Diaby. Toure is a complete midfielder, whilst Diaby isn't a good passer, tackler and has poor positional sense. He hasn't been able to play one game in Arseanl's CM in the Prem this season. Toure would start every game for them. As for him playing in Seville's midfield, I think he is totaly unsuited. Keita and Poulsen play very disciplined roles and keep the ball moving through midfield very quickly. At Lyon Toulalan, Bodmer, Kallstrom and Junhinho are on another level to Diaby. MArseilles are near the bottom of the table so he may well find a place there. That is the sort of side I'd expect to see him at. To suggest Arsenals 4th or 5th choice CM, is good enough for some of the best sides in Europe is an exageration.

He may be a power house, but he doesn't play like one and his lack of aggression is something Arseanl fans complain about. Also he isn't a good passer. He can play the occassional final ball when teams are stretched, but he isn't particuarly good. He's much more Zokora than Carrick. He occassionally strikes the ball well and has scored the odd goal (ie Derby), but to call him a great striker of the ball is an exageration again. Any great striker of the ball will have numerous compilations to view, yet i expect you'll find it very diffiuclt to dig up many examples other than the goal against Derby. He isn't an excellent dribbler either. He often makes little burst, but due to his reliance on his right foot, these usually end in nothing. He is a player that has ability and great physical attributes, but doesn't seem to have a sufficent game in enough areas to have a true position that he can play to a standard good enough to play in a top side. You say he's better than any CM on our roster, but what are you judging this on? Last season he started 8 Prem games for Arsenal in CM and the lost 3, drew 4 and won just 1. This season he hasn't played in CM for them.
well this all started when you said he could only play for arsenal. he could play for a wide variety of teams across europe, obviously he wouldn't slot right in as a starter at all these clubs because he doesn't even do that for arsenal. he's a work in progress and his style is not ready made for the current arsenal thus he's undergoing a reeducation of sorts. one that wouldn't be as needed if he played for spurs. and i see you didn't address your outdated view of their style. he is in fact incompatible at this point and unless wenger works his magic again he won't fit their current style and will probably be sold.

and yaya toure is only an older version of him and diaby will be a similar and better player when he's 24. yaya was in fact rejected by wenger twice, once on trial and again when he was at olympiacos and wenger chose diaby over him because of the greater potential. just last year at the world cup everyone was calling him overrated and saying zokora was better than him. in fact i remember this summer people laughing at the fact that at his barca presentation he couldn't play keepy-uppy and people calling him unskilled:roll:. funny how quickly things change.

On the link with Julio Baptista, I asked a pretty astute goon (an oxymoron if ever I wrote one) season ticket holder about him. He laughed and said, "in English football the 'Beast' is more of a 'Carthorse'."

The guy said that Baptista's first touch is so poor that gooner fans wanted to check his birth certificate to see if he really was Brazilian, and that whilst he's strong, he was easily knocked off the ball by Premiership defenders. He also said he thought he was too lazy and not aggressive enough to play as a CM, and that he wouldn't have him back @ the Arse even at £5 million.

It's also interesting because Wenger has deliberately upped the tempo and toughness of his midfield this season, putting Flamini and Eboue in alongside the flair players (Fabregas, Rosicky, Hleb). Gilberto is out apparently because he sits deep rather than playing the high-tempo pressing game, and because Flamini and Eboue are nastier *****s.

So, if Julio Baptista had had the makings of a tough, pressing, high-tempo CM, surely Wenger would have found a way of keeping him - especially given he's now available at a discount price in Real Madrid's Xmas Sales. Given this, I don't want him as a Spurs CM, and he's definitely no better than any of our strikers.

Good info there yanno. Strange, but maybe just one of them players who'll never make in in the EPL.
