Hey guys.

Would like to go to the Sunderland away game with some friends. We are going to stay another 5 days in London, so I am looking for a cheap train possibility to move to London after the game, but virgin trains costs about 75 pounds at the moment. Is it going to be cheaper in a few weeks? Any ideas or experiences?

Would like to be in London at latest 10 pm.

Cheers,
Tobi

As the game is over Christmas, I doubt train fares will get cheaper; more likely increase, but stand corrected if I'm wrong! Have you thought perhaps about flying up?

Cheap "advance" train tickets go on sale 12 weeks before the day of travel so keep checking www.nationalrail.co.uk over the next couple of weeks and they should get cheaper. Also, if you're between 16 and 25 you could potentially save money by buying a 16-25 railcard for £28 - I've saved the fee in one trip in the past.
