BBC Live Text
Tim Sherwood: "I thought we played well. We changed it a little bit with three up top
"Swansea had a few chances from outside the box early on, but I always thought we were the most dangerous side.
"As soon as it clicked I thought our quality would come through and it did.
"I can't take the credit for Emmanuel Adebayor, he has to take the credit. I have just given him the stage to go and perform.
"It's not as if he was never a good player. He was always a fantastic player. Everywhere he has been he has scored goals. He is enjoying his football at the moment and we are all reaping the rewards from it."
15:07 YELLOW CARD - Danny Rose
15:06 GOAL - Swansea 1-3 Tottenham - (78 mins)
Hang on, maybe I was a tad premature on the declaration chat! Wilfried Bony gives the Swans some hope as he sweeps home a lovely steered effort from Roland Lamah's cross.
14:59 GOAL - Swansea 0-3 Tottenham - Emmanuel Adebayor (71 mins)
Give the man a tap-in and he'll take it. Spurs spring Swansea open yet again as Danny Rose this time takes it on, this time the right decision is made and he squares for Emmanuel Adebayor, who takes it really well. What has happened to Swansea at the back?
14:55 SUBSTITUTION- Swansea 0-2 Tottenham
Another fairly anonymous performance from Nacer Chadli, and he is replaced by one-time Swan Gylfi Sigurdsson, who gets a healthy round of applause from the home fans.
14:41 GOAL - Swansea 0-2 Tottenham - Chico Flores (OG 53 mins)
Tottenham are a different side since their opener, and take a two-goal lead as Kyle Walker finds space in the box, flashes in a low cross into the corridor of uncertainty, and with Nacer Chadli poised behind him, Chico Flores turns the ball into his own net.
14:36 YELLOW CARD - Swansea 0-1 Tottenham
Spurs start the second half in the confident mood they ended the first, Kyle Walker already having two strong runs down the right. Jordi Amat then picks up the first booking of the game for an industrial challenge on Vlad Chiriches.
HALF-TIME - Swansea 0-1 Tottenham
14:04 GOAL - Swansea 0-1 Tottenham - Emmanuel Adebayor
Completely against the run of play, Spurs lead! It's a fine goal too as Aaron Lennon rolls the ball back to Christian Eriksen, his first-time cross is a gem and Nacer Chadli is beaten to the header by Emmanuel Adebayor, and he buries it from four yards out. Hammer blow for the hosts.

Swansea City will look to end a run of seven Premier League matches without victory when Tottenham visit the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.

The visitors will hope their resurgence under the leadership of Tim Sherwood can continue, as they travel to south Wales unbeaten in the league since the new manager replaced Andre Villas-Boas in December.

Michael Laudrup will be hoping the Swans can start to register points quickly as they find themselves just three points above the relegation zone and, with their Europa League campaign restarting in February, things will only become more difficult.

Despite knocking Manchester United out of the FA Cup the previous weekend, Swansea suffered a 2-0 defeat when they returned to Old Trafford last Saturday, further extending their winless run in the top flight.

The Swans have not registered a league win since the first weekend of December, when they triumphed 3-0 over Newcastle at the Liberty Stadium before drawing three and losing four of their last seven outings.

Meanwhile, Tottenham's last month has been the opposite of their opponents, with FA Cup defeat to north London rivals Arsenal the lone blemish on Sherwood's managerial record.

Since seizing the reins from Villas-Boas last month, Sherwood has overseen four victories and one draw as Spurs strive for a place in the Premier League top four.

Tottenham enter the weekend sixth in the top-flight standings, just two points behind Liverpool in fourth, with the Reds taking on Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday.

Spurs prevailed under Villas-Boas in the return fixture, with Roberto Soldado's second-half penalty the deciding factor in a cagey affair back in August.

Tottenham

Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood would also benefit from several players returning as they travel to the Liberty Stadium.

England winger Andros Townsend could return to the first team squad after an impressive start for the Under 21 side in midweek.

Defenders Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul could also be in contention after ankle and thigh injuries respectively.

Erik Lamela is nearing a return from a thigh problem whilst this game is almost certain to be a week too early for Paulinho, who has an ankle problem, and right-back Kyle Walker continues to recover from a calf problem and could miss out.

Swansea
Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup could be handed a double boost ahead of the visit of Tottenham, with both Roland Lamah and Dwight Tiendalli available.

Belgian international Lamah trained on Wednesday following an abductor strain while Dutchman Tiendalli returned to the training pitch on Friday after a hamstring problem.

In a potential further boost, wingers Nathan Dyer and Pablo Hernandez have a chance of featuring against Spurs as they continue their comebacks from injury.

Laudrup remains without Dutch international Jonathan de Guzman, who is expected to return to training next week following the ankle problem which ruled him out of last weekend's defeat.

Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm, striker Roland Lamah and defender Dwight Tiendalli may return after respective knee, abductor and hamstring injuries.

Wingers Pablo Hernandez and Nathan Dyer could also be available after injury, but Jonathan de Guzman remains out with an ankle problem.

Spurs winger Andros Townsend scored for the under-21 side in midweek on his return from a hamstring injury.

Midfielder Sandro is also expected to return after a month out.

Swansea City's name barely gets a mention when the pundits offer up their considered thoughts on which three clubs will be relegated from the Premier League this season. Maybe they're fooled by the Swans position in the table.

They are 13th heading into the weekend. It sounds safe, but a three-point advantage over the drop zone is the far less convincing reality.

Add a winless run of seven games, including four defeats in five, and it becomes easy to appreciate why many fans are becoming concerned.

Injuries haven't helped their cause and maybe the extra workload brought by progressing to the last 32 of the Europa League has had a negative impact too.

They've already played 10 matches in the competition and wouldn't be the first club to struggle to cope with the Thursday-Sunday schedule.

Napoli await in the next round and Swans boss Michael Laudrup will want more than a few Premier League points added before the Italian giants roll up at the Liberty in a month's time.

Recent history suggests the Dane won't get many, if any, against Tottenham who have won the last four meetings between the clubs. Gareth Bale was amongst the scorers on their last visit to Wales in March, while a Roberto Soldado penalty secured victory at White Hart Lane earlier this season.

Like Swansea, Spurs are also through to the knockout stages of the Europa League but their squad boasts the depth and experience to handle a hectic fixture list.

Since Tim Sherwood became head coach their league form has improved dramatically too, picking up 13 points out of a possible 15 to rejuvenate hopes of a top-four finish.

Suddenly Spurs are scoring again. The return from the cold of Emmanuel Adebayor and of Christian Eriksen after injury has helped enormously.

Swansea have never beaten Tottenham in the Premier League and I don't expect that to change just yet with Welsh worries intensifying and Spurs still soaring come Sunday teatime.

facts.jpg

Head-to-head

  • Spurs are unbeaten against Swansea in six league encounters, five of which came in the last three seasons. (W5, D1)
  • Swansea City's last league win against Tottenham Hotspur came in October 1982, when Max Thompson and Bob Latchford scored - one of only 10 wins for the relegated Swans that season.
  • Jimmy Gilligan scored a League Cup second round first-leg winner for Swansea in September 1991, but Spurs rallied to win 5-1 in the return leg at White Hart Lane.
Swansea City

  • Swansea are without a win in seven Premier League games (D3, L4). It is their worst run of the season.
  • Their previous longest sequence without a win was nine games in the Championship between November and December 2008.
  • The Swans have conceded the first goal in 13 of 21 league games.
  • City have lost four more matches (10) than they had at this stage last season.
Tottenham Hotspur

  • Spurs are unbeaten in five league games, winning four and drawing one.
  • Tottenham have won their last four away league matches.
  • The nine clean sheets kept by Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris is the joint-highest tally in the Premier League this season.
  • Michael Dawson is Tottenham's only ever-present in the Premier League this season.
  • Four of Roberto Soldado's five league goals have come from the penalty spot.

Can't wait for this game, I like the idea of playing Lamela but not in place of Soldado and he'll probably come off the bench anyway since he's been out. They're both used to playing against teams with a "continental style" so it could be a good match for them. If I were Tim I'd remember that our away record under AVB was the best in the league so with that in mind I'd play a 4-2-3-1, almost like Tim's 4-4-2 but packing the midfield out a bit more to break up Swansea's passing game and with Ade as the link up man.

Lloris
Walker - Dawson - Chiriches - Rose
Dembele - Bentaleb
Lennon - Adebayor - Eriksen
Soldado
I'd bring on Lamela and Sandro 2nd half.

Also, that's good news if Paulinho is only out for another week!

sandro has to start in middle of field.. alot of game we will be chasing the ball me thinks... dembele and bentalab wont be up for that.

two up top for me and hope lennon and eriksen can provide some serious movement and options. and hope ade has a big game in him and soldado has done some shooting practise

a massive massive game considering we have city after that so we cant afford to draw imvho let alone lose.

Some more interesting stats

Swansea City have won just two of their last 15 Premier League home matches (W2 D6 L7).

Tottenham have won four and lost none of the five Premier League meetings with Swansea.

Tottenham have lost just three of their last 21 Premier League away games and have won the last four in a row (W13 D5 L3).

Swansea have more yellow cards for dissent this season than any other side (10).

The Liberty Stadium has seen more second half goals than any other Premier League stadium this season (24)

Under Andre Villas-Boas, Tottenham had the lowest conversion rate in the Premier League (7 per cent) but in the period under Tim Sherwood they have the highest rate in the division (23 per cent).

This season, Tottenham have averaged 2.2 goals per Premier League game under Sherwood, compared to 0.94 under AVB.

Spurs have taken 210 long throws this season, 60 more than any other side in the Premier League.

Swansea have averaged 60 per cent possession in games this season, the highest figure in the Premier League in 2013-14.

Tottenham have conceded only four goals from set-pieces this season, a joint-low in the Premier League.

I'll make a predition about this match; it will be vital in deciding where loads of fans will land on their faith, or lack there of, in TS. He has had a month now to influence the team, and some sense of a direction moving forward should start to shape up. A convincing win might start a new phase of optimism. A display of horror, and TS will lose the fans who still are on the fence about judging him (the majority?). Either way, expect a frenzy.

I've seen all Swansea's live home games this season, be it in the League or in the Europa. Unless there is a serious improvement in their home form, and I mean serious, I can't see past a win for us given our strength playing away from home.

Honestly they've been very poor.

Yes, yes I know...they'll probably play a blinder now I've said that.

Another must win rolls around!

Win this and Chelsea beat Utd and all of a sudden we have a 6 point gap over the latter.

Sandro or Capoue should start. Could have been 3-0 down at half time against a pretty poor Palace team and we were way too open through the middle. We need to get this game by the scruff of the neck and Bentaleb/Dembele/Eriksen don't do this. We need a solid performance to build some confidence, not a result that papers over the cracks.

See I have seen them as well and Im scared about this match

They have been very poor but they haven't been this close to the relegation zone before and this may be the kick up the arse they need

It's a shame Capoue and to a lesser extent Holtby are not liked especially after how good Capoue looked in the first games, but you can't argue with the great results from Timmy magic so far. Villa 2 0 up on Liverpool now! Anyway I hope we have a plan for their midfield so we don't get bullied.
