I don't get the issue here. The team did not look like winning and were frustrating as hell untill right at the end. Did anyone at 80 minutes think "chill, we got this"?
Yes I did. We've come back from loads of games in that position, more than any other team I believe recently and we'd been battering the fk out of them for the whole of the 2nd half and they'd hardly got out of their own half in 90min.
Not saying I thought we'd win that late on but I definitely thought we'd score and it'd be Eriksen Alli or Son that got it. Was getting worried with 10min to go but it didn't make me want to slag everyone off label them as legends or say Poch fked up in the 1st half.
But thats not the point. The point is we were 1 down with 30 mins on the clock and it was a full on meltdown on here.
Poch got it wrong. Eriksen is awful. Son awful. Davies awful. Alli awful. Walker awful. Just stupid bloody comments spouting shite. Sissoko was and is shite lol. No argument there I feel.
And its not reading about it after the game either. If you look back you'll see some were shouting fkin get a grip people during the game but the tripe kept coming and it really didn't reflect the game at all.
Doesn't matter really and everyone is entitled to an opinion but guys, we're a fkin good team now. We're not the Spurs of old. Realise it and start enjoying it because these are the good times

How many times has Dele in particular scored in the 88th minute? I feel as though this is happening regularly but I can't be arsed researching it.
This season he's scored in the 87th v WBA, the 89th v So'ton, the 90th v Everton and the 88th yesterday. Seven of his goals have come between the 40th and 60th minute, that's his hottest period.

Last season his latest goal came in the 84th.

This is PL stats only, don't know the cups.

Great post.

Why does no one ever distinguish between "everyone is entitled to an opinion" and "perhaps some opinions are best kept to oneself"?

WTF is wrong with having an opinion and not sharing it until the passage of time tells you whether it is bullshit?

Why do people feel compelled to barf up their current "opinion" every 3 minutes, especially when it is unsupported by evidence and basically consists of an un-moderated splat of information-free rage?

What is it about the 21c. that "I have an opinion..." absolutely must be followed by "...and I'm going to share it with everyone immediately"?

There is a difference between "having an opinion" that lives in your head, or even that you say out loud, and compulsively spitting out unsupported, rage-motivated "opinions" on the internet, where they will live forever, thus potentially making you look like a fucking arsehole for eternity.

Like everyone else, while a game is underway, I think all manner of superstitious, emotional, irrational things. But I keep them to myself until after the game (or at least until half time), when I can reflect, assemble thoughts and evidence, look at the game in retrospect and formulate a narrative.

I have no desire to let off the characters who filled yesterday's match thread with anger and abuse of our players. Subsequent events made them look like total fucking idiots. Good. They were behaving like total fucking idiots. Had we lost the game, they would still have been behaving like total fucking idiots. But I wouldn't have had the opportunity to write this superior, smug post. Thanks to Alli, Son and Eriksen, I can. Cheers.

But I'd say that player doesn't exist. Someone who can compete with Danny Rose and not want to be 1st choice? Rose is too good....

Depends. Sessegnon would arguably provide better back up than Davies given his already proven ability and evident huge potential. He would probably be prepared to play understudy to Danny for a couple of years given his age, as well as the opportunity of being part of such a committed and talented group of players and coaches. I certainly don't think he would be any worse than Davies.

Alternatively Luke Shaw might be prepared to come and offer competition given his previous relationship with the Poch crew and the fact that Mou seems intent on ruining his reputation for all and sundry. Could be just what he needs to get back to form and fitness.

Davies just doesn't cut it for me even as a back up.

Can't say I agree with your, erm, opinion on this topic.

I tend to refrain from mid-game rants these days, but I was certainly prone to it in the past. I can see it as being cathartic. A prolonged, verbalised, online version of instinctive groaning in the stands. Some people are quietly confident, some are frustrated but prepared to roll with the punches, some just want a quick way of venting in a moment of frustration, and others go into full blown 'Pochettino out', 'so Spursy' mode. It's inevitable in a game that has grown into a global phenomenon based largely on the emotional impact it has on supporters.

You could say that each and every thought need not be shared, but then equally why read each and every post? I doubt anyone wants a sanitised match thread full of nothing but 'it's not over yet' and 'oh well, there's always next week' happy clapper posts. SC is social media, and for many people, being social includes sharing their emotions in real time.

The match thread gets special attention, but really any thread (such as the transfer window ones) that unfolds in real time is characterised by rollercoaster emotions, with a blend of rationality and spontaneous frustration.

You only have to look at the 'what other supporters are saying' thread to see how typical such mid-game rants are. It's to be expected, just as the post-win retrospective smugness has become expected. One thing I rarely see is a poster combing through threads after a defeat looking for positive and optimistic comments to single out, largely because nobody making negative comments actually hopes for anything other than to be proved wrong.

So the new rule in match threads is no passion no honesty no pain no suffering no actually getting caught up in the game then is it? Only jolly nice posts cheering on our boys from now on, ok chaps, that's the spirit.
It's easy to come on and read back through in the cold light of day and get all superior but here's the thing, I bet most of the people whose post were painful last night got more excited by the win than the sensible people who wait till the end of the ride to make a point.
We all deal with it differently so right or wrong I'd say carry on complaining.

That might be the case, and yes we all vent in different ways, we all feel the disappointment and frustration but the pertinent difference is that some just suck it up and others come out with complete shite calling the team legends.

The truth is they're anything but it and the manner in which we came back only makes those stupid assertions in the heat of the moment look even more ridiculous.

There our other ways to vent than coming up with complete bollox like that.

Priceless.
Genuinely how the fuck did you remember something like this from over a year ago?

I can't remember what I had for breakfast.

Without looking down I also couldn't tell you what pants I'm wearing.

Or if I'm even wearing pants.

It, and the following humourless, po-faced posts in that thread, are genuinely the worst thing I've ever seen on SC. And I've seen people dish out Funny ratings to @Spurrific.

We were poor for 88 mins because we were close to losing 1-0 to an extremely shit Swansea team. It's very easy after the event to say keep the faith isn't it!!
We're all still wanting the team to win, we all celebrated at the end, can you not see that?
How some people go over an old match thread digging out fans is laughable.
But your missing the fucking point.
It's an off the cuff emotional rollercoaster in the match day thread. Positive and negative posts. Good and bad posts.
Each and every fan is entitled to go about it how they see fit.
What gives you the right to say how people should comment? Utter nonsense.
This whole post is so filled with hypocritical nonsense and a total lack of self awareness that I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

1. Losing at points in a match doesn't mean you're playing poorly. The team in the lead isn't magically the team who is playing best.
2. Yes it is easy to say keep the faith when Pochettino has proven to be the best manager at rescuing points from losing positions in the entire Premier League since he's been here. We constantly fight to the absolute death. It's not exactly insane to think something could happen when it constantly keeps happening.
3. How people can dig out a manager and team who have performed extremely well under very trying circumstances for us this season (no Lloris, Wanyama, Kane, Rose, Winks, etc. last night for example) is laughable.
4. You're literally challenging others about how they can comment.
