Malaga could secure the services of Tottenham reserve Adel Taarabt this summer according to his representative.

The flying winger is yet to establish himself at White Hart Lane, and he has been linked to a summer move to La Rosaleda, after being sent on loan to QPR at the end of last season.

Malaga are long-term admirers of the new Morocco international and one of his agents has claimed that the Spanish outfit could push to lure him away from North London this summer.

The 20-year-old only made a single league appearance with Spurs this term.

“Malaga have always been on his trail and I would not be surprised if this time they finally made it,” said a representative for the player.

    You wish anyway - $$$
I think we need to take a very hard look at Taarabt, but he was hailed to high heaven by QPR (it was QPR right?).

Again CC if he stays, and I mean all the way, not as a sub. Plus some league appearances as a 70th minute sub or something. He has the potential to be just as good as Modric, if not with us then definately with someone else.

Yes I agree. The lad needs to get some first team game time and if we aren't going to give it too him a decision needs to be made, loan him out if he is willing or give him the opportunity at another club.

Personally I hope we keep him and start to use him more because as you say he could be a cracking player but we will never know unless we give him more chances.
  3. JoeT
    Ditto you two.
  4. Boony
I agree with your thoughts but... it is QPR... the lad has some serious talent, but we dont see him in training every day. Like Dos Santos, if he trains every day with the first team and doesnt hold his own, who are we to make a decision over HR. Id like to see him on loan in the prem and see what he does. Ive played a half decent level of football myself, and around the pool on holiday, a few of my mates look like Ronaldo, but put them in an eleven side game and its a different story. Hold on to Taarabt if we can, but its been a number of years now and he still hasnt shone through.. how long can we wait?

People at the club are impressed by his talents. I should think they will do their best to keep him. I hope so, anyway. Last season was wasted as far as introducing new players is concerned,, since we spent most of the time fighting relegation. Next season should be a different story.

I can't imagine Taarabt being anything other than amazing in training...I think arry said so himself. I've said it before, but I really think this kids been treated awfuly by the club. Arry perhaps didn't get hold of him till too late, but keeping levy's boy bentley ahead of him for so long was a footballing travesty. Ramos was the worst though, not even giving him a squad number.

I really hope we can hang onto him for another year

I'd rather we keep him....after seeing How Mounir El Hamdaoui has become a goal machine. I think this player has raw talent
  8. sebo_sek
Yeah, how did we ever sell Mounir? Incredible what a player he's become with the Dutch champions as well.
  9. Boony
    1. He wanted to go.
2 The Dutch league, is now miles away from the Premiership.

if he stays then fine, if he goes then fine. for me he has not shown that he has the discipline and awareness needed to become a top player
  11. sebo_sek
But he didn't even get a single appearance in the premiership. He got injured and shipped out.
  12. DC_Boy
    I like Taarabt.

I think unless Malaga want to pay £7m+ we should give him another season.

Of course if Adel is pushing for a move, which he might be, it seems harsh to keep him.

If he could only learn to head the ball, I think he'd be a great prospect
  13. davidmatzdorf
No, Boony is right. El Hamdaoui asked to leave. He wanted to go back to Holland and to get guaranteed first team football. The club had no desire to sell him and, when he stayed fit and did play for us, usually on the left, he played well.

He's a full international now. If he's frustrated at his lack of opportunities at Spurs, then it's very understandable.

If we don't give guys like Dervite and Taarabt a chance then they'll leave, because there's clearly plenty of people who do rate them.
  15. Spurs_Bear
As much as I do agree in principal, what constitues "giving them a chance"....if it's carling cup then fine with me but are they going to be interested in that and that only?

I wouldn't put Dervite ahead of Ledley, Woody, Dawson or Charlie and same with Taarabt over Modric or Lennon in a league game.
  16. ben anthony
My concern is that we keep on buying players who you "wouldn't put" Dervite or Taarabt ahead of. How do we know that Dervite couldn't be better than Dawson or Corluka if he never gets near the side because we sign another centre back this summer (as has been rumoured)? Taarabt is a full international and Dervite plays at under 21 level for one of the strongest footballing nations in the world. They're ready. It'll be depressing if we sign players in positions they could have filled.

I think we're one of the worst clubs in the league for developing young players, not because we're not producing the talent but because we always throw money at a problem rather than looking within our own ranks for a solution. Manchester United have a strong squad but it isn't so overloaded with average squad players that they stifle younger players like Evans, Wellbeck and Macheda, who all got games last year.

It remains to be seen what our transfer policy will be this summer so I'm optimistic that it will be a sensible one.

This is why Harrys re vamping the reserves cause not enough players are comming though cuase they dont get the experience high tempo high level games, loaning them out rather than playing reserve games gives them the experience they need and makes or breaks them and if they dont make it at Spurs they can find a club with a lot more ease.
  18. Spurs_Bear
Absolutely irrelevant, are you forgetting how highly rated Kaboul was when we signed him? Dervite has come back from a serious injury and I'm sure if he is good enough he will get playing time, but we cant just get him in the side for the sake of it. If he was to play in a league game and made a horrendous error in the last minute to cost us a game, would it be ok cos we were "giving him a chance".....don't think so.

Taraabt is a full international playing for Morocco.....enough said, I'm sure we aren't going to go after the Iranian National team because they are full internationals.
  19. ben anthony
OK, I agree that full international status needs to be taken in context, but it's not irrelevant. In the case of Taarabt and Dervite, it at least shows that their development is being recognised by their national coaches, if not bgy their club coaches.

But your other point I don't agree with. Yes, I do think it's ok for a young player to make a mistake that costs us a game. It's a part of their development. Shit happens! We can try to build a team that will have long term success or we can continue to make woefully short sighted signings like Murphy, Gilberto, Rocha and Chimbonda and never get anywhere.
