Are they really children, as in under 18s, or sort of interns without degrees? I heard that it's so hard to get a job in newspapers these days that the papers run a sort of pool of unpaid early 20-somethings for the menial stuff, ensuring that there are fewer jobs for them to get.

Off main topic (but to reply to karennina): Because there are more media studies graduates being churned out by universities than there are jobs in the media, newspaper and television companies can be incredibly exploitative. In TV, it's common practice for graduates to start as "runners": ie earn £100 a week, cash in hand, for a 50 or 60 hour week. The companies pretend it's "learning on the job", but it's just exploitation of cheap labour.

Even the BBC do it. They have an actual staff grade of "Assistant Trainee Runner" - as if you need to train to be an assistant tea-maker!!! The only slight difference with the BBC is that, as a taxpayer (licencefee) funded organisation, they do at least have to pay minimum wage.

I like TT - and I pay no regard to these 'non-stories' - however it is fair to say that if we get in 2 new mids in january - obviously some of our current mids will be under pressure -

Tuesday, 8 Am, Daily Mail Online, sports section office:

Conversation between the editor and the sensationalist journalist assigned to underachieving Premiership teams:

Editor: Jesuschrist, what a night and what a hangover. Ended up in some kind of crazy Scandinavian party with a bottle of Vodka Finlandia in my ass. By the way, I think I saw a familiar face there, a blond Finnish player, a holding midfielder I reckon, totally crap most probably...

Journo: Aki Riihilati? From Palace?

Editor: Nope, I remember that lad, he played several matches in their last Premiership season. This one has barely played...

Journo: Teemu Tainio?

Editor: Temuwhat?

J: Teemu Tainio, the polyfunctional midfielder from Spurs?

Editor: Polly who? Timothy what? Spurs?

J: Yeah, the Finnish international player, in WHL for almost 3 years. This is him (he googles him up)

Editor: Sure, that's the man, but I never thought he was an established Premiership player. He was complaining about his toe nails and about some diarrhea which wouldn't let him perform, but after a bottle of Finlandia he just shut the fuck up. Is he any good?

J: Well, it's hard to tell actually because he's still to remain for half a season without injuries. And he hasn't played at all under the new regime at the Lane.

Editor: Then that's your story of the day son. And you know your sources, the friend of a friend and as reliable as possible without getting any quote from the player, ok? I don't want any legal issues...

J: Sure chief, no worries, I'll just stick to good old google...

I like Teemu, he's one of us.

Couldn't agree more. I don't have soft spots for players as such, but I do appreciate that some 'want it'. You can tell by the way he fights and the way he looks when he fails. He is a player I actually respect.

Tainio gives his all when playing and can add the grit in midfeild we have missed since Davids left. I do like him, but it might be a good time to part companie with him.

I wasn’t referring to current form, more the goal line clearance that he stuffed into the back of his own net, is what I struggle to forget…

I agree. We need players who know what the club is all about and play their heart out for the team because it's their dream to play for the club. As for people who still tout the "top 4 aspiring" tag, they need a reality check as we are closer to relegation than european qualification.

For me, TT is our Mark Noble. I remembered how much effort Noble put in last season and he was the catalyst along with Tevez for West Ham's turnaround. Anyone remember how he cried after the game against us? Playing for West Ham meant the world to him and he will fight his guts out for them. I believe it is the same for TT and we need more players like him when the going gets tough because I believe that is exactly how it's going to be for the rest of the season; a rough and tumble fight to the end for survival. And to survive, we need fighters like TT.

If I cry because I miss my sales targets will my bosses be OK about it because it shows that I care? :)

will be sorry to see Tainio go, he is injury prone but has the right attitude for playing and wish we can find someone with the same who is less injury prone, and just abit better, then we will be sorted!!

Another crappy story from the Daily Mail.

I think Tainio is one of our better CM players. Having said that I am surprised that Ramos has not used him more instead of Zokora and Huddlestone.

To my mind Zokora and Huddlestone are more expendable. Zokora is slightly more useful than Huddlestone because he can cover at Central Defence. My hope is for Jenas + a new experienced midfielder for the CM berths, with Tainio + Boateng + Kaboul as cover.

The person saying that Malbranque is useless is either on a (not very funny) wind-up or a bit new to this football thing. He, along with Bale and possibly Keane, have been our most consistent players this season.

How we can leave him go, give him the chance in holding role in CM. I think he would much more better than our CM now. He is one of few our lads who really play ball forward, and got vision. Simple is beatiful and effective. Bring him in, then you can blame if he can not succeed.
