I would include Tainio along with Staltieri as players who are honest but probably not what we need to be a top line side. Every time one of these guys start a game for us it is a sign that we are down to the rims.

To be honest, I can't see either being here next season. They were great acquisitions as freebies and important in getting us into Europe two years ago, and Salty has come in for a lot of unfair stick. But they can have a year at most remaining on their contracts and I'm sure Ramos will be looking for reinforcements who will see us through to 2011 or longer. Teemu's propensity to injury makes him a dodgy prospect and he's looked less than convincing this term; his biggest strength has been his tackling, but his success percentage is way down—only just over 50%. That's not good.

So, where is poor old Teemu in the midfield pecking order?

Against Pompey:
- Dawson pulls out injured
- Zokora drops back into defence
- Prince comes into midfield
- when he gets tired O'Hara replaces him
- Tainio only replaces Lennon very near the end, when we're a goal up, to help close the game out.

(The Hud was nowhere to be seen.)

However, this suggests to me that Tainio may even be behind O'Hara in Ramos' midfield pecking order. If so, and if we sign a CM and/or a LM in the window, then I do suspect we may let Tainio go. Good player, good servant to the club - but if he's really not in Juande's plans...

will be sorry to see Tainio go, he is injury prone but has the right attitude for playing and wish we can find someone with the same who is less injury prone, and just abit better, then we will be sorted!!
