Marseille defender Taye Taiwo has hinted to skysports.com that he would be interested in signing for Tottenham Hotspur.

Taiwo has made no secret of his ambition to one day leave Ligue 1 for the Premier League, and recent reports suggest Spurs are interested in securing his signature.

It is speculated that Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is keen to sign a left-back in the summer, although the club have yet to comment on reports linking them with Taiwo.

Nigeria international Taiwo has again reiterated his desire to play in England's top flight, and remained coy over rumours of interest from Spurs.

The 23-year-old told skysports.com: "I have made my desire to play in the Premier League clear.

"Tottenham are a big club, but I am at Marseille. I want to play in the Premier League, but I have a contract. But if the clubs agree...

Described as a strong, pacy, left footed defender also capable of shooting (and scoring) at over 80 mph.

JimmyG2 has hinted to his wife that he would be interested in signing for Tottenham. He has made no secret of his desire to leave his 3bed.detatched in Lincolnshire for Tottenham High Road and recent reports suggest the he has begged the club to sign him.
Harry is apparently keen to sign someone from Lincolnshire but so far there are no reports linking the club with JimmyG.
He remains positively secretive about the rumours linking him with Spurs.
Tottenham are a big club but at the moment I am in Lincolnshire. My wife knows that I want to play for Spurs and she says the whole idea is ridiculous and to forget it. But if the club can agree with me.....

African young player of the year 2006. So he might just get picked ahead of me.

    PMSL.......Would make a nice signing,from what i've seen of him......Taye Taiwo ,that is ;-)

Yes please! He is fantastic from everything I have seen and heard. What would this mean for BAE and/or Bale?
  6. THOWIG
He's an average player. Good going forward but his crossing is very hit and miss and defensively he is poor. The players we have at the club are better than him IMO.

Felipe at Deportivo or even Armand Traore are think are much greater options
  7. JimmyG2
Excuse me young man you've never seen me play.
  8. Stono
I hear JimmyG2 is amazing on FM!

Good shout about Traore, he's the business. I seriously think that left-back is the weakest area of the team. Bale is nowehere near tactically astute enough to play there and BAE is, for me, too inconsistent. My priority in the summer would be an experienced and physically imposing left-back and a new target man, with Bent being moved on.

Whiner will never sell to us!
Taiwo is exactly what u want in a LB!

I don't want to start the whole BAE discussion again, but could you kindly tell me what more you want from him? Strong, good going forward, good defensively, assist - Is that not what is required of a quality LB?

Seriously he is the best LB outside the top four, and that includes Wayne Bridge, who got torn to shit today.
  12. joe_bazza
Yes that is of course exactly what is required from a good left back (as well as height). BAE is tenacious but not particularly strong, he is committed and a decent tackler but has poor positional sense (therefore is not "good defensively"), he is quick and quite tricky with the ball at is feet but will rarely beat a man or put in a good cross (therefore not "good going forward"). Don't misunderstand me, he is a very capable left back, occasionally putting in excellent perfromances. However, I feel that he is a player we can improve on. Particularly if Modric is going to be played on the left, we will need a left back who can win more headers.
  13. THOWIG
To the people on here saying he is good defensively just wondering how many games you have watched him play?
  14. daffygremlin
yeah but he is shit in fifa
  15. JimmyG2
I am in touch with my lawyers regarding this damaging slur. How can I be 'amazing' on FM and 'shit' on fifa
Seems that the fans are as split about me as they are on Jenas.

Jesus do we have to change our full backs nearly EVERY season ? I see nothing wrong with BAE, or Bale in the future..

Do we really need to w@nk more money up the wall ? Is anyone going to want to join the club knowing they get half a season then they are replaced ?

    :bang:

    Bang on...
  18. JimmyG2
We can always buy them back again.
Iv'e been saying this for years. Lets build a house on solid foundations not an assortment of pre-fabs slung up by cowboy builders.

I've seen a fair bit of Taiwo and he is a good player, but I don't think he is a marked improvement on Ekotto, while Bale should not be dismissed just yet (only 19 and may well become a star). BAE lacks positionally, while Bale has lost all confidence, but unless we find a brilliant left back then I think the both of them should be persisted with. Unless we can steal someone like Marcelo (who was superb v Italy and probably going to be let go by Madrid this summer) then I have no problem with either left back at the club. Our most pressing concern is on the left wing and perhaps in the number 9 position, elsewhere in the squad I'd like to see minimal possible disruption and few, if any, incomings.
