To put it simply, the guy is a genius. He would view us like a project than a business and would constantly want to improve us without sucking money out constantly because he knows what it takes to make something a success. My doubt I have is im not sure how much he knows of the EPL but to be honest I think it's a risk worth taking having heard and read so much about him.

I agree he's a genius, but that doesn't mean he won't see us just like any other investment.

European NFL franchise?

If that's why then they'd be better off just building a purpose built NFL stadium and negotiating with the NFL from there. Why spend 2bn on Spurs when you could spend less than half that just building a stadium if all you're after is an NFL franchise

There is no chance of a take over at this time.

Lewis values the club as though the stadium is built, and filled to capacity. A buyer will not pay full price for a half-completed stadium, and uncertainty in terms of future attendance. Too much risk (and not enough upside) at the prices Lewis/Levy are talking.
Yep agreed

Not sure I'd say that. He's a businessman with no interest in football. If he buys us it'll be to make a profit.

Anyway it's not zuckerberg who's making the big, it's an investment fund, one of whose clients is him so he would presumably have no involvement, they just use his money toninvest

I would be aghast if Iconiq were interested in Spurs

These are their investments over the last 5 years. Predominantly tech, largest investment was Series G in Flipkart at $1B. Football does not fit their goals or profile
100% this, Iconiq are a tech fund for Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who have made it to invest in the next generation who might make it. No way does any form of "sports franchise" especially football fit their profile. As an aside their last fund was just over $500m in size so if they were to buy Spurs for $2bn it would need to be some form of co-invest outside the fund as even with leverage there is no way they can make an investment that big from a fund of that size.

Because clubs don't spend 30 million to then go and sell the club
Cash is an asset of the club, that asset would be remain part of the club when sold.

Spending that cash on player investment would maintain, if not increase, the value of the club. Therefore a club that is in a position like Spurs would continue to invest as though it was business as normal.

saw this by pablo on ftl:
Anyone see a small piece in Sunday Times business section today.
Iconiq Capital..who among other things manage Zuckerberg's dough..are weighing up a £1bn bid for Spurs, but Lewis wants £2bn

The Club to any buyer is going to cost more than two billion plus, given our current worth and the likely worth come 2018. This is just paper talk as made up as most alleged insider transfer news you read.

Exactly. We've got a stadium with a projected cost of 750m. A squad that will be valued at hundreds of millions. The training facility will be 50m or more. Then there are the assets, revenue streams, and turnover of the club, and the prestige and brand of being a PL club. That's just assessing a rough valuation, then you need to add the premium to get someone to sell...

These stories, and always apparent shock at how much it would cost, are either written by retards or total BS.

Oh my god. Now i want to cry.

This. Spurs have NOTHING to do with the NFL besides for having 2 games a season at the new stadium. Maybe a prospective franchise would use the stadium but that does not mean the Spurs owner would own that team also.

Also, about a team in England. Lets just ask Shahid Khan how getting his NFL team over here for good is going. Easier to relocate then to start from scratch and he hasnt been able to bring his Jaguars to England.

I think if you are a football club in London that has designed an eight hundred million pound stadium with a pitch that can be swapped out to host American girlie shoulder pad football and proper football and have added separate NFL "locker rooms" Spurs have more than "NOTHING" to do with American football.

There is nothing "prospective" about Spurs being the home the next London Monarrrccchhhss American football team. It's as much a certainty as Belichick deflating Brady's balls.

Just my hunch on this by the way.

the club is currently valued at about 1 billion dollars by Forbes, as of June 2017. I assume that includes the new stadium which comes with about 400m equity.

Have a look at the Journalists website, really takes all the credibility out of the story

It's a pretty strange statement. Why even bother? What has the stadium financing got to do with it when it wasn't even mentioned in the article? Also, the article didn't say that anyone was in talks - it simply stated that certain parties may be preparing a bid . All very odd

The nearly club without investment I fear.... we need a cash injection to help, look what happened to Arsenal with the new stadium, they fell behind since moving to emirates, not gained yet they have still won more than us!

We need cash injection badly

Simply explains why private equity firms may have had an interest in investing in Spurs - to fund the stadium in exchange for an equity position with the club, not to purchase the club outright.
