Just after quick advice re taking backpacks/shopping bags into WHL. Managed to get a ticket for the pool game and as I haven't been to the lane for a while (live overseas/young family etc) I'm not 100% sure what the stance is re what you can and can't take into the ground. Thx

Just put a t-shirt in the bag over anything else, and you can take in whatever you like. Guns, drugs, you name it.

I take a bag into WHL every game, and carry all sorts of stuff I need for a weekend in london. It takes about 2mins-ish (max) as they cheak the bags, and you get a yellow ticket put on them. They advise to come about early for people with bags but Ive come at all sorts of times and all is ok.

You can take anything which you cannot cause serious harm (no poles, bottles, guns, firworks, bombs, ect) But everything I have brought into WHL has never been taken off me

Hey you used to be able to stroll in with anything.

Many years ago I took an air pistol into the Lane!!! Yeah I know it sounds idiotic now but I was 15 and me and me mate used to go shooting water rats over the marshes before each home game (that's why I came to have it on me) - one day he was not in and I did not just want to leave the pistol anywhere, so instead of walking back to Dalston to have to walk back to Tottenham, I just shoved the pistol (cocked!) down the front of the jeans and strolled in. I was unusually steady and quiet that game and stood down the front of the Park Lane (when it was quiet and crap) instead of the rocking Shelf!

I don't advise you try that ANYTIME!

Anyway dont take plastic bottles cos they seem to be collecting the lids.

I've taken a bag in three times and it's never been checked. I'd hope they were just being pragmatic (that I don't look like a terrorist or from Essex) but I fear that that's just wishful thinking.

Takes you back a bit. I'm 32 and just about old enough to remember when you could go about your business without people checking your bag, coat, pockets, bottled liquids etc.

Thanks for the advice, it was just any shopping I do in London before the game and I didn’t think I’d have a problem on the basis of if you buy from the club shop they can hardly not let you take it in !

Anyone have any idea how long it would take to get down to Victoria straight after the match ?

25 minutes to walk to Seven Sisters; 30 minutes on the Victoria Line (assuming it's running).

The bag checks are perfunctory - they only seem to check for bottles - and sometimes there are no checks at all.

I had my fully stuffed backpack with me(medium sized) they just asked us not to take any water bottle bigger than 0,5 l to the stands but they even let our umbrellas in...

Only had my bag checked 3 times in 3 seasons. If I go shopping before the game they sometimes just look in and check.

They don't allow lids on botles, but for some games they say no bottles at all - that annoys me as I have to drink my drink outside but then they sell bottles of drinks inside and don't always put the drinks in glasses? Anyway, I always hide the lid, go through turnstiles, and then put the lid on as I go up the stairs. Done it for every home game for 3 seasons! Don't tell them though!!!!

I must look dodgy cos they check my bag every time - only problem ever is the water bottles and like you Chatterbox, I conceal the lid somewhere and put it back on once inside - otherwise it just gets knocked over once in the stands. My seat is near the back of the East Stand - I'm flattered they think I could throw it as far as the pitch.
