Why move on ? There still seems to be a lot of confusion about this.

The only advantage that the clause gives Lyon is that they can buy the player for a lower pre determined fee. The player still has to agree to go there and sign a contract with the club. Essentially this is no different to making an approach for any other player from our point of view.

Perhaps he turned down PSG because he wants to play in the Prem ? It’s possible. It’s also possible that he turned them down because he’s about to sign said contract with Lyon but we also don’t know that for sure.

We’d be able to blast Lyons wages out of the water if we made an offer so it’s far frm over until we hear that he signs on the dotted line with Lyon

Wasn't there a big loophole in the contract that Southampton's legal people failed to identify? Thought I read that they got fired as a result of us pinching Toby when they thought they had it all tied up.

If I recall correctly they had a buy option as long as Atletico did not receive a bid higher than their option amount by a certain time. They kicked up a big fuss over whether we had met the timeline or not and I believe they settled with Madrid and moved on.

The boy was 20 playing for Amiens. Like Leicester’s signing of Kanté, he turned out far better than they had hoped !

As I posted a while back. His YouTube high lights only show his success stories, not how many times he dribbles into trouble on the edge of his own box. Perhaps that could be coached out of him, I don't know but that was the concern when we were watching him.

Thanks Trix. Love his pace strength and vision though. If we were watching him, it sounds as though we have moved on, which imho would be a real pity. This guy has got all the tools to be Kante level.
