So which comes next Herc giving looky eyes or Ally G denying we have interest in the player?

The ownership of thi s guy could help us massively, especially if he isn't an official Lyon player yet

Uh..like...lazy twat here. Could you like, maybe...like précis the report for me. Maybe in like...less than 18 words...please

Actually quite straight forward. Saints had an option to buy. Madrid had a fixed time frame and amount to buy that option back. Which they did. Saints complaint was that that Madrid were late paying then (after the fixed date) which, according to the contract, would nullify Madrid buy-back-the-option-option. Madrid said they paid it in time. The matter could have been settled in court, Saints may have won. But by this time Toby had already had his pretty little head turned by Levy's fluttering eyelashes and they decided not to drag it out for months.

Would absolutely love this signing but such a ridiculous market. 500/600% mark up for one good season.

Like any outlet they can be. No idea here. I would be surprised if we were willing to stump up 60m for him even though I rate him highly. I would also be surprised if we were going to pay 40 unless it was very favorable terms.

Oh I agree we won't pay £60m. It's possible this is Lyon unofficially starting the negotiations. I recall there were similar stories in the French media when we were trying to sign Lloris, with Lyon initially demanding a ridiculously high sum. We ended up signing him for a bargain fee.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Hercules has previously stated that we would only be interested if the fee was around £15 million so I doubt we would have offered €40 million.

Tbf though we had Lyon over a barrel then, they had to get the money to balance the books and the player wanted us. Not up to speed with their current financial situation but it likely isn’t as dire now.

That was Hercules’ opinion rather than fact.

Yeah agree with that. Well, here's hoping the player wants to join us and that Lyon lower their asking price. He could be a useful addition to our squad, particularly if Dembele is leaving.

Good post. But in two pages there’ll still be some idiot posting about how it’s possible because hes still an Amiens player.

You may not have meant it this way but I feel like I'm one of those "idiots" that you're referring to and yet, if we're honest, you've not been able to offer up anything to clarify the situation around him. @Matecheck is the first one to help provide some clarity and I all I did, along with others, was speculate around the fact that this might be similar to Toby and nobody had any actual evidence to say otherwise.

The funny thing is that despite the fact that he is seemingly going to be a Lyon player in the coming weeks, if he's not already - I'm still not entirely sure, the transfer links are still there and now in reputable french media, so who knows what will happen.

I suppose Lyon may look to sell if they now have a shot at keeping Fekir. Maybe they need to generate some funds to sign some players.....who knows but the whole point of these threads is for us to discuss possibilities.

40 million (ish) seems a lot of money for a player with one season of top flight French league football under his belt.
Mind you, one season of top flight football hasn't stopped us before.

I don't know thing 1 about this player, anyone with some input on if his talent and ability matches the 40+mill that they want for him?

Unless Lyon are dragging their feet/trying to renegotiate on paying the buy option or there is a buy option invalidated by higher bid clause I just don't see a way he doesn't end up at Lyon next year. The former of which is very possible as Lyon' s president acts a lot like Levy when it comes to these things but doubt he lets a potentially valuable player slip through his fingers.
Lyon can buy and sell him on to be fair. I don’t expect it but that’s also an option.
