Don't do it to yourselves - we are absolutely not getting in a bidding war with European mega clubs for Ndombele.
I think we are all aware of this...but I think we are also all aware that most chairman who publicly claim to have numerous offers from all the top clubs are talking absolute rubbish.

If PSG want a player that badly, you don't usually have to ask them to make a bid!!

“PSG please come bid! The player likes Tottenhams offer enough to move and they have offered the highest fee! Help!”

Other than us, Clubs thats in for NDombele atleast going by the rumour mills are
i) City
ii) United
iii) PSG
iv) RM
v) Juve

City : With Atleti breaking up with likes of Godin, Griezzman, it is very real that they will also lose Rodri. City's interest in Rodri is very real with Begiristain apparetnly recommending him. So, if City are in for Rodri, I cannot see them in for Ndomebele

Juve : Juve just got Ramsey on a 400k, so , I can believe these reports that Juve offer isnt much to Ndombele when compared to us. If its us or Juve, then I can believe we can get him given circumstances.

United : United can better our offers for sure. But does he really want to play for them in Europa League with a team that is on a downward trend with a manager on slippery slope. If he indeed picks United, then he deserves them. If he wants to be in that French line up for Euros then he better chose the best possible footballing team.

RM : Zidane wants Pogba but RM club hierarchy dont want him. RM have bigger fishes to fry in attacking 3rd than spending a lot in CM. But you never with know with them. They may come in for Eriksen or Pogba. If Pogba doesnt materialise, they may get serious with Ndombele. If they come in for him, I cant see him joining us. But for now, I see this possibility low

PSG : For me this is the legitimate threat for us overall. Big/Rich French side who can pay better.

So, I can see whats that sneaky fox Aulas is doing here. He is just trying to create a market where there is not much for him.

I guess we wont make any move till CL final is done. So, lets see how this pans out.

IMO, he would be a big coup for us. If we get this over the line, for once, we would end up getting the player we went hard in for. But still long way to go. I would give us 50% chance for now.

The fact that Aulas is ringing people to get them to bid for him, to me suggest at the moment there is no bidding war

I watched him last night and was impressed with his passing in fact he is instantly comfortable when he gets the ball however I only saw him get one tackle in which is fair enough I guess if that wasn't necessary. Another thing it seems to me, is the way he carries himself when not on the ball and when the opposition have it, he seemed to meander and jog with very little quick movement, he lopes more than runs, now I am not saying he is lazy but he does seem to have a lazy gait about him and that may be something people will have to come to terms with when he comes to us as they may miss how much he still does.

Wtf is wrong with this guy.

Guys you do realise all agents/clubs do this? It’s in their best interests to get as many bidders in as possible.

That’s why it always makes me laugh when I read on here “lEvy sTOp hAggLing AnD gEt tHE dEaL dONe EaRly” because most times the selling club or agent will drag it out to find the highest bidder. And as we’re not top of the food chain many times it won’t be us.

No, they don’t? Can you think of one other example of a chairman publicly requesting one of their biggest rivals gets involved in bidding for one of their players?

Just because Lyon's chairman is a bit of a knob, and reveals everything publicly, doesn't mean other chairman / agents don't do this exact thing to try and get a better fee behind closed doors ...

It’d be naive to draw a false equivalence between Lyon’s chairman publicly trying to flog one of his prized assets to their main rivals to doing it behind closed doors.

I’m not saying it doesn’t happen behind closed doors, hence the word “publicly” being in bold in my post. Nobody thinks it doesn’t happen, but people think he’s a weirdo for doing it in public.

Not that it matters tbf, idk why I’m posting.

Wouldn't read too much into it. Would you break your balls at the of the season, knowing you're leaving anyway?

I agree that he's a weirdo for doing it in public, but it doesn't change the fact that PSG and Juventus are definitely interested in him he's going to play everyone to get the biggest fee possible.

Unless we've proposed an offer to Lyon and Ndombele that Juventus or PSG can't / won't match, which I doubt, it is very likely someone will blow our offer out of the water...

I’m not talking publicly. But if you think every chairman/agent/club doesn’t shop a player they decide to sell to the highest bidder than you are very naive. Publicly or in private the intention is the same.

I mean, it’s to their biggest rivals. They definitely don’t all ask their main rivals to get involved in bidding. E.g. how we sold Modric to Madrid for a much lower sum than we’d have got from our rivals.

Chairmen aren’t all as nuts as Aulas, most are smart enough to avoid fan backlash they’d incur by doing silly shit like this.

I don't think he was taking it easy last night in particularI think it's how he looks when he plays but I think it is probably misleading.

Depends on the club. We chose to accept less money from Madrid for both Bale and Modric than we’d have received from Man Utd and Chelsea respectively.
