If you want to challenge for the title having key first team signings in for pre-season is important. Because where the title is concerned points dropped at any point in the season are costly.

If brought in early they would have at least some understanding of how Poch would like them to play, and some understanding of their team mates. These fine margins could make all the difference in the first 5-10 matches.

The only signings that should be left later in the window are the less important ones. Players like Lo Celso and Ndombele should be in ASAP as they'd likely be on the team sheet most matches. We need to have the individuals but also a coached, collective unit by the first game of the season if we are genuinely serious about a title challenge. I know some of our targets are currently away with internationals, but we need to be securing those deals so they have a few weeks off and are ready to jet off to Asia on return.

I'd say ideally we want a minimum of 3 players in before Asia, but even then some time at Hotspur Way beforehand could be crucial.

Dele trained with the first team, while at MK on Loan for the 6 months, had a full pre-season and was then integrated into the first team.

I don’t think it was full time, just in for a couple sessions a week

Toby wasn’t at Southampton under Poch but I get what you’re saying. If a player is good enough then he should be able to crack on. How much is down to the player and how much is down to the manger’s trust is another thing.

it does usually start a week earlier, but due to CL Final, and the international comp they have a week extra off

Might be mistaken but I thought Dele came in early as a couple of other wide forwards got injured (Andros?). He then scored that diving header and never looked back.
