We must, where possible, get our targets in nice and early, Poch needs to integrate them in preseason so we can hopefully hit the ground running,

A month ago I'd have said that Poch will always want to line up with an out-and-out defensive midfielder if he can, but looking at our transfer priorities so far I'm starting to agree with posters who have been saying it may not still be the case.

Neither of the two pure DMs in the squad are good enough to be in the first XI for a club with ambitions to contend for the league title. Wanyama, unfortunately, seems finished, and Dier is too immobile to cover the ground necessary and would be far better off as a CB in my opinion.

Assuming neither Wanyama or Dier win the job, that leaves Winks and Sissoko as the likeliest candidates to sit at the base of midfield. They both played that role at times this past season and acquitted themselves reasonably well. Between the two I'd guess that Winks will win out with his tempo-setting qualities bringing more to our overall play than Sissoko's athleticism would provide.

I'm not totally convinced that it would provide enough cover for the back line but this midfield diamond could play some scintillating stuff (with Sissoko rotating in regularly for any of the No. 6 or No. 8 positions):

----------Winks---------
Lo Celso ---- Ndombele
----------Eriksen--------

Mad chuffed at this signing. Solves many issues, including simply providing depth in midfield. But my big question is: Who then becomes our preferred DM pivot?

I'm inclined to go with Sissoko as the hammer, and Ndombele as the guy who gets forward. But maybe Ndombele-Winks is how we'll line up? Thoughts?
Winks and Sissoko :cautious:

So how do we pronounce this guys first name?

I’ve been going with ‘Tang-wee’ but I’m worried I should be saying ‘Tan-Guy’.

He’s signing. I know next to nothing about him other than a few YT clips, but he’s signing.

You don’t get this much media noise unless it’s sorted.

From what I’ve seen, he looks very good. Dembele on steroids.

I think it’s been pretty much done since ndombele have that interview 10 days ago.

you are truly unfuckingbelieveable, your negative when we don't buy, and you think the worst when we do. you must be gutted you got something wrong too, because we won't spend money, we don't do transfer windows that aren't net spend. I take it the only way we pay for this will be not to allow him to sign until Eriksen goes for the same price.

please take a day off, there are way too many that will he hidden away for the rest of the summer as it is because we have signed a player that will shut them up

On the 16 June I said I thought this would be done and have done since despite loads of people being nervous nellies.

So wind your neck in, untwist your knickers and understand a joke when you see one.
