Team for tonight?

Can't see a thread about this anywhere else so here goes...who should play tonight?

I'm really hoping that Jol goes for something innovative because to be honest after Monday night very few of those players deserve to play. However the sad fact is that our squad is a bit of a sack of toss at the moment so not sure what else we can do.

Presumably the defence will be:

Cerny
Chimbonda
Daws
Eunice
Lee

And I'd pick Berbatov and Keane upfront.

But what to do with what we laughingly call a midfield?

Personally I'd love to see Steeeeeed play in the middle but with Bale out I suspect he'll be shunted to the left. Also maybe it's time for Taarabt to get a start. I know he's raw and frankly a bit mental but do we need a player a bit like that to get the crowd going?

Lennon - Steed - Jenas/Zokora - Taarabt

However we are more likely to see...

Malbranque - Jenas - Zokora - Tainio

I agree with choice of Taarabt. Our team and fans needs a real lift and he's a player with bags and bags of confidence that will give it a real go. Still incredibly raw but he needs games.

The middle 4 of Dawson, Kaboul, Steed and JJ isn't awe inspiring but what else have we got. Steed, along with the injured Bale, has been our only midfielder to have any sort of form this season so should get a go in his favoured position.

That's the midfield I would quite like to see but it is very attacking. Would require JJ to do alot of defensive work. Could be the sort of thinking that saves Jol his job though.

Apparently so. As is Bale and BAE. So Gardner at left back :roll:

Incidentally how woeful does our team look when Bale is out? Quite sad that we are so reliant on a teenager.

I want to see Hudd back in the midfeild. In European games you usaly get more time on the ball so i would hope we see some good range of passes from him.

What i would love to see is if Lee is fit enough to play LB) is Gardner to come in for Kaboul and Kaboul to move in to midfeild. Have him as our holding/defencive midfeilder with someone like Malbranque infront of him with Lennon on the right and Taarabt on the left. Bale would have been on the left as he would cover back more but he is injured

It'll be the usual suspects in defence, although I'd have Salty back in there.

I dare say he'll play four CMs again across the midfiled and it'll definitely be Berba and Keane up front.

Would love to see Lennon and Taarabt on either wing. Might create a few chances.

I really think Bent and Berbatov could be pretty effective up front together and Hudd and Tarrabt could work really well together. Lennon needs a start and because Dawson has been so bad we need to play gardener alongside kaboul to see how that goes. Lee is injured and so is bale so we need to play salty left back or right back?

Sadly I think you may be right. If he plays a team like that tonight it'll show why I don't think he should be manager anymore.
