Chris Hughton reports that Teemu Tainio, Jermaine Jenas and Aaron Lennon are expected to be fine for the trip to Sheffield United on Saturday.

Teemu has missed our last four games with first ankle and then throat infection, with Jermain missing out against Manchester United last time out with an ankle knock. Aaron returned to the Lodge early from England duty with mild gastritis.

"Jermaine had an ankle problem but we are very, very hopeful over him for Saturday," said Chris this morning. "Teemu Tainio was struggling with a throat infection and, again, we expect him to be fit.

"Ledley King is still out, while Aaron Lennon had a very slight gastritis problem, but we expect him to make the trip."

just to get the ball rolling, as some moron has to so i may as well be that moron....

    ..................Robinson
    Chimbonda Dawson Rocha Ekotto
    Lennon.... Jenas... Hudd...Mallbranuque
    ...........Berbatov.. Mido

Whats the I hear... Ekotto's shit, shouldn't be anywhere near our team... well in his last three performances against Arsenal, Southend and Arsenal again he was one of our best players, while Lee, without doing much wrong, doesn't do much right either IN MY OPINION.... JUST AN OPINION... EVERYONES OPINION IS VALID!
Also, for those of you who doubt Mido, he too has impressed in his last couple of performances, and Defoe's lack of stature means he is a traveller away from home, while Keane at the moment is not far off inept IN MY OPINION.
And as for Malbranque, unfortunately we haven't got another realistic option, though you never know, our manager may surprise us with either Taarabt or O'Hara, though lets face it... not gonna happen.
Either way, I don't pick the team, you don't pick the team, Jol does, but that is the team I am tempted to want to see.

I wouldn't change too much from that line-up mate. I'm intrigued to see how the two big guys play up front and hope it wouldn't just encourage us to resort to hoofing it up to them (though at least it would give Robbo plenty to aim for!).

The only thing I wouldn't do is play Hudd. I think the lad could desperately do with a rest so I'd throw Teemu or Zokora in there alongside JJ to give us a bit more bite.

    moron,

agree with the above team apart from Hudd. To me he looks a bit knackered so I'd put Zokora or Tainio in. Not too bothered which one as neither has really stood out in recent weeks/months.
  4. Duff
I agree BAE is much better than Lee

Although Mido came on and did well, he still is the laziest player in the world, I go to every game and even when warming up he avoids any physical excersion if at all possible!
  5. BringBack_leGin
well if someone has to come in for hudd i would prefer it was zokora, or maybe theres a kidlet who is capable of making the step up, i dont know, wouldnt want tainio tho, he's jsut coming back from yet another injury and he reminds me too much of leonhardsen.

About three months ago I said I'd like to see Mido and Berbatov upfront together especially against teams like Sheff utd, Everton and Bolton. Almost immediately a few pointed out that in a recent interview BMJ had said he'd never play the two together as a starting line up if he could help it as it was 'his least favoured combination'. Hopefully, given the form of the two little blokes I hope he will reconsider as I think it could work especially with the service of Lennon getting better and better. I somehow doubt we'll see it though.... atleast for now.

My midfield would include Zokora instead of Hudd to hold the centre and I'd probably put Tainio at LM ( I gather he's fit again) to give us a little more defensive cover to Ekotto as we all know they are going to come at us in a very high tempo physical game.

For me maintaining possession in midfield will be essential against them but we'll have a physical battle too. I feel that Hudd is knackered at the moment and being off the pace in the centre will cause us all sorts of problems especially as we have no ledley behind them.

    ..................Robinson
    Chimbonda Dawson Rocha Ekotto
    Lennon.... Jenas... Hudd...Tanio
    ...........Berbatov.. Mido

I honestly beleive that this team would get results, it is about time Berbatov and Mido were tried together it has been extremly frustrating watching defoe and especialy keane week in and week out wasting specialy when we have a very passionat Mido who is not even included on the bench for most PL games. There is nothing better then hearing "Mido Mido Mido" chanted by the fans. It gives me goose bumps even though i am spectating from my nabours living room in Denmark.

    I reckon this will be the team;

    ..................Robbo
    Chimbo .....Daws .....Rock .....BAE
    Lennon Jenas Hudd/Zoko Malbranque
    ............Defoe....... Berbs

Subs; Cerny, Tianio, H/Z, Gardner, Keane

I would like to see mido play as well, if not then def on the bench. I think he is going to miss out though with keane prefered (Jols preference NOT mine).

I would go for the Hudd with Jenas cos I want them to build a relationship, but if not then Zoko is next in line for DM (no-one else can play that role).
  9. Boaman
I would play this team although I'm not convinced Mido & Berbs is the answer it smacks of desperation. Although until I see it in practice and can give an educated judgement I'm happy for it to be tried out.

Here we go again. Read that sentence. Doesn't it seem like complete nonsense to you? It does to me.

How can everyone's opinion possibly be "valid". Perhaps what you're getting at is "everyone has a right to an opinion", which is a statement of the obvious that appears constantly on SC threads, as a justification for an attack on anyone who criticises anyone's opinion as being poorly-thought-out.

Everyone's opinion is not valid. Some opinions make sense, even opinions that you disagree with, and some are plain cracked.

P.S. The only change I'd make from your formation is that I'd play Lee instead of BAE. Not that I'm especially bothered one way or t'other, but I think Lee's greater EPL experience and general hassling and tigerishness in defence are more useful away from home. Plus his delivery into the box has been much better in 2 of his past 3 matches and that's the one thing I think has been consistently poor about his play since he arrived at Tottenham.

Tanio will definatly start on Saturday - Probably in place of Huddlestone, who in my opinion needs a break !
  12. N10toN17
Really want to see Berbatov and Mido tomorrow, see how they go as a partnership. If it bombs out we can go back to the big man little man scenario.
  13. TheBaker
Probably play 20 mins and have the next 3 weeks off!!!
  14. ridouche
How come it's Chris Hughton who is reporting, unless Jol got the flu, has he got a misstress in suffolk?
I think they are pressing JJ to take the role model, obviously, the board spend few squids on him, and has yet to deliver to us or to the poor England. The next game comes with a warning "watching spurs may cause laughter "!
  15. StokeSpur
Tainio isnt so defensive, i'd rest Hudd on the bench and play JJ and Zoko i'd do that for all the final 12 prem games and play Hudd in Europe and FA cup games. I guess though, Hudd could do CB and partner Daws if needed, cool head like ledders and he's played there quite a lot in the past, a clean sheet would be very welcome indeed.

Not sure bout Berbs and Mido together, i guess they would be an intimidating front line height wise, cant be any worse than any other combo we try, reckon Berbs and Defoe will start though.

    COYS!
  16. StokeSpur
    Ghaly can! its his possition.
  17. BringBack_leGin
hmmmm, just a thought.... for the sake of haveing too wide players on the left flank, but also having some solidity there, hows about having Lee at LB and Ekotto at LW. Ekotto is fast, full of stamina, primarily a defender, but also a good dribbler with a good pass and sometimes a good cross.
  18. N10toN17
    My side for tomorrow,

    ....................Cerny
    Chimbonda...Dawson...Rocha...Lee
    Lennon...Jenas...Malbranque...Assou-Ekotto
    ............Berbatov.....Mido

I know I've left out Robbo, but I feel a little bench time might do him some good. Lee and Ekotto will give us better balance and defensive solidity. Steed will be more effective down the middle where he naturally plays, hopefully attacking centre halves and sliding in some killer passes for the front two, Jenas to get from box to box and Lennon to supply the boys up top. If Berbatov and Mido are struggling together bring Defoe off the bench to change things up.
  19. BringBack_leGin
would stick with Robbo as he actually did well vs Man U. otherwise.. agreed!
