    TEAM NEWS:

Aaron Lennon remains out for the trip to Newcastle on Saturday and Martin Jol’s preparations have been hit by a couple more injuries.

Winger Aaron hasn’t yet recovered from a slight inflammation on his knee that kept him out of the games against Manchester City and Southend.

He’s joined on the sidelines by Teemu Tainio, who picked up an ankle knock against Southend while both Paul Stalteri (knee) and Edgar Davids (ill) are struggling. Robbie Keane (knee) and Jermaine Jenas (ankle) remain out although better news sees Didier Zokora available after suspension.

Martin reported on Friday: “Aaron is still out as he is not 100 per cent yet, Edgar Davids is ill, Teemu Tainio has twisted his ankle and will be out for the next two weeks, Paul Stalteri has picked up a knee injury, Robbie is still out with his knee injury – that will probably be another three weeks – and Jermaine Jenas is still out.

Michael Dawson hurt his shoulder against Southend but he is in the squad and is fit for selection.”

    Could be worse.

    We can stll put out-
    Robbo
    Chimbonda, King, Davenport, Assou-ekotto
    Malbranque, Hudd, Zokora, Murphy/Ghaly
    Defoe, Berbs

Subs:- Cerny, lee, ghaly/murphy, gardner, mido

hope Lennon doesnt have this problem all season, he's to important a player to lose every few games! hopefully he'll be fit for boxing day. definately wouldn't play murphy, wouldn't even have him on the bench! this is perfect opportunity to give o'hara his chance, or at least have him on the bench!

    Robbo
    Chimbonda, Dawson, King, Lee
    Ghaly, Zokora, Hudd, Malbranque
    Defoe, Berbatov

Bench: Cerny, Davenport, O'Hara, Ekotto, Mido

O'Hara could cover centre mid and left wing, Ekotto left back and left wing, Mido the obvious either O'Hara or Ekotto could come on for Ghali on the right and then swith sides with Malbranque.

We need width and pace for this one, so it is a bit of a problem that Lennon is out. Contrary to a lot of people on this site I actually thought Murphy looked quite fit on Wednesday and would not be surprised (or worried) to see him given an important role tomorrow. Given the call for pace and with, however, I hope Malbranque and Ghaly will play either side of Hudd and Zokora. It remains to be seen whether Jol will put Hudd on the bench after his 120 minutes of football in midweek.

    totally agree with BringBack_leGin.

That's the team we should play

I think it would be far better to start with Huddlestone, to help keep possession and release pressure from defence with better distribution. If he gets tired in second half, then hopefully Murphy could do the job well enough.
Our aim should be minimum 1 point, but realistically can get all 3 if Huddlestone plays well and Zokora provide adequate support. Defence must be solid under some inevitable pressure at some periods of the game...
  6. gilpinsgurgler
Teemu Tainio is our new sicknote.......its just like having Anderton back
  7. DC_Boy
I very much like the 16 chosen by LeGin - hope that's Jol's choice too :)
  8. beejayspur
Well said Gilpinsgurgler, wonderful player when he is fit, but just like Anderton always out with something.
    I like LeGin's selection. COYS
  9. alchemission
Sounds as if LeGin is flavour of the month in here... i'm a big Ghaly fan so I'll go for that as well mate.

Isn't it refreshing though, to have zero choice up front anymore?! I'll take that!!

Tainio keeps getting injured, but he also keeps recovering. Anderton used to be out for months at a time. Tainio will be back in 2 weeks. He gets injured because he puts everything into the game.
  11. benzekry
I suggest Abd El Halim Ali as a striker [IMG]
  12. benzekry
    zamalek is the champion[IMG]
  13. jackhealy
    Who is this guy?
  14. littlemandefoe
yea, le_gin, your the new jol. I agree too.
  15. benzekry
Abd el halim ali is the best striker in world he plays for zamalek egypt that mido played for before
