Newsnow is full of stories that have Jenas and Bent in and Kaboul and Bale out of the travelling squad.

I presume the squad travelled some time ago, perhaps even yestrday, still no mention from the official site of who travelled out, the last time I looked anyway.

EDIT - no sooner do I write this than finally it's confirmed by official site - though doesn't mention Kaboul as far as I can see

According to Ramos, apparently taling about Kaboul's omission:

We have a squad and we have to try and let all of the players play, participate and feel important.

Even so, considering that we have precisely four other fit defenders, it would be quite damning were Kaboul not even to make the squad.

well it seems Kaboul didn't travel, maybe the official site didn't want to comment. But boy were they slow with news of the travelling squad. It's great news if JJ & Bent are available for selection we soooo need these two players fit, especially with Keane suspended and at times it seems Zokora playing in the back 4

You ain't foolin' no-one, Juande Ramos.

Justin Edinburgh, quoted in today's Grauniad, reckons the club underestimated how long Ledley would be out, and that we would have gone for a more experienced player if we'd realised it was going to take this long. I reckon he reckons right.

Kaboul will come back, but he probably needs a little bit time off, and out of the team. It has been hard for him, and there has been a lot of talk about him. He is a young player, and sometimes it is hard to take.

Kaboul is an exceptional talent, and I have no doubt in his ability to succeed. We are lucky to have such a good talent at the Club, and his errors is a part of his learning process.

It is a shame that due to injuries he had to learn his lessons in the first team and not the reserves

Hummm not sure reserve team football is as good a test as either Ligue 1 or U21 international football. Both he's played in and made positive contributions. I think the obvious path for him was first team football from the moment he came to the club. Even with the hindsight of seeing how he's performed at times, i still think 1st team football was the only and best way to integrate him.

At the moment it's not a great environment at spurs to be a "I'm brilliant but put you'll have to put up with my irraticness" type defender. Get him out of the fireing line before the boy is totally destroyed mentally and bring him back into the fold when we've got wins and confidence.

I daresay when King has proven fitness and form that Kaboul will benefit from a few games next to him and Dawson could benefit from a rest.

I must say I doubt the reserves will help Kaboul at all - probably have to play him there to keep him fit if we don't want him in first team.

One thing he has to learn is keep it simple and that's I guess mainly 'in the head'.

You find in many young centre backs that they are more likely to make an error or two. It simply comes with experiance. Centre backs need experiance more so than prehaps any other position. Personally i think he will mature to become a very good player but the lad needs time. The whole experiance of this season has probly taught him more than if he were to stroll along in a team that was 4th/5th in the league at christmas and in cruise control. Remeber guys we all learn from our mistakes and thats just part and parcel of being a CB!!

Here's the official site team news:

Jermaine Jenas is back in the fold for Thursday night's UEFA Cup clash against Anderlecht.

The midfielder missed Sunday's reverse at the hands of Birmingham with an ankle injury but has travelled out to Belgium and took a full part in training at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium on Wednesday night.

Anthony Gardner (ankle), Gareth Bale (foot) and Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee) remain sidelined while Ledley King and Ricardo Rocha, who both played 45 minutes for the reserves at Fulham on Tuesday night, are not yet ready for first team action.

Mmm, I was sure Ledders would make the trip. No more reserve games until January 7 so will he not return before then if he's still in need of 'match fitness'?

With King, Rocha and even Dervite on the way back Eunice better sort himself out pronto or he'll be way down the pecking order by the time he does.

Slightly OT, we spent £8m on Kaboul and £5m on Boateng. Shame we couldn't have bought one or two players ready for the first team for that money.

We've arranged a friendly against Liverpool at Brisbane Road on the 17th, BOF (at least, I think it's the 17th). I might try and get along and add to the regular 300.

Ah yes, the mythical Liverpool fixture - not listed as either a first team or reserve game on our site. As Liverpool play Man U the day before I'm guessing they won't be sending the first team.

Would be good to meet up if it's actually on.

Well we can summise that Berby won't be playing back four after his lame effort of a challenge last sunday!! Probably Dawson and Chimbonda central defence.

Bale is injured, so the above ain't going to happen. Ramos has been using Zokora as the stand-in central defender, so he'd be the one to slot on there, and he could also bring Jenas back in.
Kaboul has been left behind, so I reckon he's going to start with three at the back (Chimbonda, Dawson and Lee) with Lennon, Zokora Huddlestone (my preferred choice) and Malbranque across the middle and Berbs, Keane and Bent up front. But you never know, he may surprise us and throw King on for 45 minutes and Rocha for other 45, pack the midfield (we know we have enough of them!!!) and play Berbs and Keane up top!

Bent and Berby up front methinks - big powerful targetmen.

Quote from Sky Sports:

The lengthy list of absentees means Ramos is likely to employ a makeshift back four, with midfielder Didier Zokora dropping into defence or Pascal Chimbonda adapting from his usual full-back position.

Jermaine Jenas is back though, and could be handed a start in the centre of midfield
