Has TT featured at all under Ramos?

Surprizingly not.

With regard to Juande's change of formations, one of the differences from Jol is the regular playing of a striker in the hole. BMJ's standard substitution was to put our reserve striker on for our LM, but to keep a 4-4-2. So, typically, Bent for Malbranque, and push Keano to LM.

Ramos's version of this substitution has usually ended up with our three strikers playing centrally - eg Keano and Bent up top, with Berba in the hole.

We should combine them. Jol sets the team up to get a lead and then second half Ramos changes it to prevent a collapse.
Jol 1st half + Ramos 2nd half = a clean sweep of all competitions.

Jol gets to do the post match interviews and pre-match press conferences though.

I love it. I can hear it on the tanoy now.

"And subsitutions for Spurs at half-time, Jermaine Defoe on for Robbie Keane and Juande Ramos on for Martin Jol."

Genius!

If that's the case then whoever made that decision should be shot (or at least badly wounded!) how on earth could we expect to rely on Ledley King being fit after the injuries he has had prior to the start of the season!?

For the price we paid I think we were expecting a little more even at this early stage.

Nobody said that is the case, just that Justin Edinburgh reckons it.

 how strange, that's precisely the same thing that some people hated about Jol.

Anyways, I think this can go in DC's team news thread.

i never really saw jol be experimental and do what ramos is doing to often but i liked jol and hoped he was going to stay. Jol basically got fucked over but its all in the past now

Kaboul will come back, but he probably needs a little bit time off, and out of the team. It has been hard for him, and there has been a lot of talk about him. He is a young player, and sometimes it is hard to take.

Kaboul is an exceptional talent, and I have no doubt in his ability to succeed. We are lucky to have such a good talent at the Club, and his errors is a part of his learning process.

:eek:mg::eek:mg::eek:mg::eek:mg: A 1ST I agree with Spurs King!!!!!! Can you recommend a replacement of African origin form the French League though????

and also no one has commented on the fact that ramos is a tactical genius for being able to change a team and formation at half time and get a result, when it was the team and tactics he pciked for the 1st half that got us in the mess.

i still love you martin (although i do have strong feelings for ramos that given time could develop into love)

How does that even make any sense? That would mean that every time a manager picks a team that does not win he has made a mess of team selection and tactics?Or that every time a manager makes changes or substitutions to win or rescue a game that he has cocked it up in the first place?

Brain, a bit more brain, type, check (add more brain if required), submit!

In that order:stupid:

the end result is the ultimate thing we judge managers on but where merrittied it is fair to be both critical of set up and see a distinction between that and the changes made to improve things after a poor set up.

I must admit my overriding memory of Liverpools CL victory in 2005 was the fight back but i acknowledge how utterly wrong Benitez got it his original line up and formation.

I think thats fair opinion. I think thats an intelligent opinion.

I agree to a certain extent but it is very difficult to assess because of the number variables that affect whether the manager's plan actually works. If, for example, a manager always fields his strongest 11 (which most managers do) and generally plays the same formation (which again most managers do) how is it possible to say whether he got it wrong? It is always much easier in those circumstances to assess whether he got the changes that are made later in the game right or wrong.

well yeah the end result has worked out most of the time but if the team he picked has fallen apart within the 1st 45 then it shows the lack of preperation he made in the begining, and on your other point not every manager who has made a substition has changed a team completely by half time

bite my shinny metal arse! in that order

and joey
