I would like to see Ramos pick this team against Wigan.

If Bale is fit I reckon he might start with Boateng and Malbranque in the middle and Bale on the left. Malbranque is rapidly proving himself to be a top quality player despite playing out of position for his entire spurs career. He is the only player that we could put in the middle who can see a pass, can run with the ball, tackle, track back and just generally make things happen.

I reckon that the forwards would thrive on the service he would provide and it would also enable a player to just sit while he charged forward and made things happen. When he was at Fulham he was top notch and frequently found ways through the best defenses.

Sounds like a good idea to me, have often wondered what Steed would be like playing in the attacking / creative centre mid position.

You might not play that against a top four team, but against Wigwam I don't see why not.

Put Malbranque on the right, as you cant realy drop him just now. Bale in on the left with Kaboul in midfeild instead of Zokora.

Lennon droped untill he can cross a ball.

Pretty much agree with your selection skb.

The only question mark would be left centre back. But out of Chimbo and Hollywood, I'd choose Chimbo atm too.

I'd also like Routledge to get a proper chance on the right, but now probably isn't the time.

Presuming that Bale isn't fit, Jenas to play the holding role which he can do and the rest of the team pretty much picks itself (Kaboul looking a bit shaky so omitted).

Robinson

Stalteri Dawson Chimbonda Lee

Lennon Jenas Boateng Malbranque

Keane Berbatov

Subs: Cerny, Kaboul, Zokora, Tainio, Defoe

I reckon Tainio is due an outing, and please God, let it be in the centre.

I will go with thejames selection. But doubt Bale is fit to start, so Steed on the left and the Prince in the centre.

Would quite like to see Routy on the bench.

Good call, can I change him for Jenas?

Apparently he's been head n' shoulders above recently in the reserves. At least he can cross. In fact, I might even be tempted to start with him on the right and use Lennon as an impact sub.

Chimbonda is just so poor on the left side of the pitch, which was even highlighted at Left centre back, he has to keep running around himself, or trying dodgy revers passes, if he must play centre back, please not left centre back

I deffo don't want Steed on the right - don't know why but he never seems to play well there (from my limited memory) - it was one of the things I disliked about Jol's tactics, he played steed far too often there and Lennon far too often on the left.

I take Shiznit's point about Chimbonda left side weakness- presumably Daws has similar problems or else it would have made sense to start them other way round.

As much as I dislike the Kaboul Daws combo, a part of me wouldn't mind seeing them start on Sun - but I guess it has to be the 4 from Thurs - and just hope Daws chimbonda can get it right.

As far as I'm concerned Lennon has to play. Yes, he's easily stopped but that's by putting two men on him and defending deep, which means the opposition have to come to WHL to defend.
Steed has to play because he is the only one clever enough to unlock the 10 man defence caused by the threat of Lennon.
Bale has to play (if fit) because he is our only natural left footer and has our best set piece delivery.
Keane has to play because he's the only striker who can score at the moment.

The back five should stay the same.

As for the final CM or striker Ramos can pick who he likes as no-one has really staked a claim this season.
But strangely enough I would go for Zokora and Bent as for some reason they just seem to fit into the gaps.

Think we might see Kaboul instead of Dawson, B-C, simply because JR is going to want to see which is the less dodgy. I like Dawson, but he can be a dozy twat, and if Robbo and Salty hadn't been alert he'd have cost us two goals on Thursday. Speaking of Robbo, you may not rate him, but I can't see JR dropping him in favour of Cerny. Cerny is better at getting out and claiming crosses, but that's about it.

And Defoe for Keane? Rationale, please.

Neither Zokora nor Jenas is exactly floating my boat at the moment, so interchangeable, but Prince Bong may get his PL start.

Two weeks (allegedly) until King gets back…
