I can't see Lucas being in the squad. Poch needs players to be at a certain level of fitness before he includes them. I would like Wanyama to start with Dembele in the midfield and have Dier on the bench. Hopefully we have Toby starting at the back as his experience is needed in this game. Son has to start for me, he just gives us that directness and pace in the final third. I am leaning towards Aurier starting for his physicality and I feel that this game will suit him better than Trippier.

Pochettino on Lucas Moura: "I think he will be ready to be in contention. He's doing well, training so hard. He's starting to feel his legs. We need to assess him tomorrow after the last training session but I hope's he's doing well and we can put him in contention.”

That's great news if it happens. Hopefully he makes the bench. I hope we are not chasing the result when and if he comes on.

Vorm, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Alli, Lucas, Llorente

Despite all the stick you getting Thinky, this looks like what Maurice tried when he tinkered with the 4141 system last year. Looks a good team to me, though I'd make lamela and eriksen constantly interchange for the midfield assistance and getting forward respectively.

I just want us to turn up we need revenge for the embarrassing performance at the shithole.
Bully them in midfield don't let them have any time on the ball at all just bully them all over the park and run at there shitty defence with pace. If we don't beat them I can't see us overtaking Liverpool or Chelsea for top 4.
Must win.

Lamela loses the ball too much to play as a centre mid

It's a shame Winks didn't look fully fit last night as I think he can be very important in knitting our team together with his forward passing.

I suspect we'll go with the tried and tested Dembele and Dier combo, but I'm concerned that we really need someone who can get on the ball and make us tick.

It’s quite clear to me that Wanyama is the best option for defensive midfield, over Dier. Dier seems much more of a centre back in his play. His passing is also that of a defender and not a midfielder, which I often think can stifle our attacks.
@nicdic @Luka Van der Bale @nightgoat

To all those who disagreed, I actually didn’t mean for this game in particular, just in general.

I don’t really see how you can disagree with that really, and instead of just a rating of disagree maybe explain why.

Moura has not played many matches for PSG in the last few months, but as he has been training regularly with their squad, he should be able to get back to full match fitness much quicker than a player who's been out because of a long term injury.

I'm expecting him to be on the bench for the NLD and if the opposing defence show any signs of fatigue towards the late stages of the match, I would not be surprised if Poch unleashes him against them late on.

The fact there are so many options is a great sign, I just really hope Poch doesn't do his occasional left field selection and stick Sissoko in.

We just need 14 who are going to be willing to fight their bollocks off. We didn't turn up at the Emirates so we owe this lot

My biggest want/gripe is the Dier/Wanyama battle. There is just no argument in my mind. Wanyama did more in 20 minutes against ppol in midfield than Dier did for the 70 he played there.

Wanyama surely deserves a start over Dier?
If Wanyama doesn't start this game or the Tuesday game against Juve it's a huge problem for me. Dier doesn't deserve to start every match with the way he's played so far this year.

Yes

Rather than "constantly", though, natural advance/sit in relation to each other depending on the flow of attacks.

Or maybe that's what you meant?

Generally, if you watch us play now, our attacking/creative players interchange positions naturally. Best I've seen it yet tbh.

Love both players. Dier was fantastic against Utd.

Lloris

Trippier
Sanchez
Vertonghen
Davies

Dier
Dembele

Eriksen
Dele
Son

Kane

Subs: Vorm, Aurier, Alderweireld, Rose, Wanyama, Lamela, Moura

Go with the side that has been fantastic last two games, they're playing super football and gelling with ease, why disrupt that.

Thought about Vic, but maybe just leave the big start for him away to Juve.

Sissoko and Llorente not even making the bench for me now.

To think no Winks, Llorente, Sissoko, Foyth...even on the bench...shows the strength of the squad now and the difficulty some of the youth players have in getting in.

This will be the team i think with toby perhaps coming back in v juve for his experience.
I really would like to shoe horn lamela into the team but i cant see it happening. I think he just makes things happen and his energy is infectious. He is also great at forward passes for players for kane/ son to get on the end of.
And for me also wanyama is far superior to dier especially in a fast paced derby. Dier may be more suited to juve as the pace may be a little slower.

Nothing wrong with our tick against United and Liverpool, to the contrary we looked full of tick for large spells in both games.

Dier was fully rested last night, people thinking he won't start on Saturday are off their rockers.
